Easily accessable to anywhere in Geogetown. House keeping service us excellent. Breakfast choices are abundant. Swimming pool area is fully self service. This is an area that could be improved, at least with provision of water or ice water, etc.

Wonderful hotel beautiful room and housekeeping excellent. We were upgraded to a room that allowed drinks and canapés in the Cornwallis lounge. Fantastic location walking distance to the street art and Chew Jetty. Buffet in the evening is excellent value and the breakfast amazing. Staff also wonderful cannot fault this!

The over stay is fantastic. Very typical of a 5-star heritage hotel (well keep for something over 100 years old). However, the main let down is some of the room connectivity (bedsit USB outlet, or even mains outlet). Housekeeping is slightly lazy (did not refill body wash, shampoo, and body lotion) .... Did I mention breakfast was GREAT. Food is so good (even by Penang standards). The pool on 6th floor at the Vic annex wing is fantastic. Gym is fantastic. Equipment is very up todate.

This is one of my favorite historic hotel. The swimming/Gym area is just right size. Morning Yoga classes by the water is also one of my favorite activities. The breakfast buffet is the best of the world. I love this hotel.

Great hotel, perfect situated just outside old town in Georgetown. Only backside is the very few sunbeds at the pool, annoying. Breakfast good, not fantastic. Rooms on the otherside es really great! And great service. Gym ok but quite small. On the Whole a good hotel that for sure can be recommended.

A very beautiful heritage property that oozes class. We had a king room in the newer Viceroy annex. Really huge room overlooking the sea. The staff are really friendly and helpful the entire stay. Great buffet breakfast in Sarkeys - huge choice of hot and cold food including freshly made noodles and eggs according to your choice. We really enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast as the main room gets a bit noisy . The only negative was we found it a bit odd that they clear breakfast up 20 minutes before closing time so that's a bit of a rush and unusual for a hotel to do that. But apart from that great breakfast. For a smaller choice but for a more pampered breakfast The Planter is a nice alternative. Very attentive staff there. Lovely pool with plenty of sun beds and seats. Never crowded. However the time of booking it should be mentioned that you can't use the big main pool in the Heritage wing unless you're staying in that side which was a shame. Fantastic location near all the main tourist sites and restaurants. Grab taxis are suoer cheap by the way. Overall loved it.

no advise given that parking is free and touch and go card needs to be validated every time we go out (knew about this only on second day when we asked on it). Also not advised drinks in minibar were free. only knew on the last day when someone came to ask us if needed any additional. Should check in counter not advise on this when checking in ? Sent an email a few days before checking in if our room is at the new or old wing and no reply received as a result had to run around looking for our correct wing (seems to be a common problem as that’s the first thing concierge will ask).

Its lovely but note: - very little information is given at check in about bars/facilities/features of the hotel - the victory suites do not allow access to the heritage pool, nor access to the club suite, none of which was intimated anywhere when booking nor on the hotel's own website/literature. We asked to upgrade when we found this and got a flat refusal - the victory pool while lovely has steps into it the last one being about 18 2 feet abovethe pool floor. If you are elderly or got good on your feet, you will struggle - some areas could do with TLC, e.g the wondows in Planters Bar needed a wash and the outside tables were grubby

I recently stayed at the E&O Penang and overall had a very good experience. The room itself was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well kept. I needed a few extra items like towels, and although I had to ask, the staff responded quickly and efficiently, which I really appreciated. One area that could be improved is the food offering. The room service menu is quite limited, especially late at night. Arriving back at the hotel around 11:30pm to find the bars and restaurants closed left very few options, which was a little disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Some of the common areas, particularly around the pool and outdoor spaces, are starting to show their age and could benefit from a refresh. It would also be great to see more variety in the food choices across the hotel, especially more local Asian options. Overall, though, it’s a solid 4 out of 5 stay — classic, comfortable, and with excellent service when needed. With a few updates and broader dining options, it could easily reach a 5.

Hotel has a history and the surrounding environment is nice for sure, the restaurant at 6 floor, facing the seashore and relaxing. Management quality of the hotel can be improved however. Specially, I found a total of around 10 ants at random places over two days in the room. The luggage being said will send to the room, but it never appear after 3 hours. Staffs at reception desks can be nicer and more helpful.

There was no shampoo, but two conditioners instead. I called the front desk, but the shampoo had not arrived even after 15 minutes, so I went to the front desk to pick it up with wet hair. I was shown to the breakfast terrace and seated, but the lady in charge did not notice me, so I walked over to order tea, which resulted in the wrong coffee being brought. She was not focused. The female staff in the lobby restaurant was unpleasant, overbearing without a smile, I ordered a medium steak and it was perfectly well done, the meat was a hard stringy part at the edge, the male staff asked how the food was and I told him it was well done, he just laughed. I visited expecting Oriental Hotel service but was disappointed.

The main complaint was from my guest who checked in at room 922. When we returned at night after dinner he found a disgusting smell from the bed. He thought the sheets were not cleaned. He called housekeeping a d they did come and change the sheets. When we spoke to the duty manager the excuse given was " the smell was probably from the chemicals used". On checking my room, I found the small rug had not been vacumned. This on the day we checked in. My question - if it was chemical smell then is that not a concern as the fumes must be a health concern.

Staff in general not very friendly except the doormen and porters. Cockroach at noodle area at breakfast. Just not a welcoming vibe in general. I’m a platinum member with an established group of hotels and I forwent that to experience something different and I found the hotel to be nothing special. May have the laurels of being 140 years old but the welcoming is definitely not that.

Great hotel. Either the Heritage or Annex victory is great.Rooms are huge. We stayed at the annexed Victory wing and have a great view of the sea. Breakfast buffet was spectacular. Rooms need updating especially the TV. Wall charges on bed side should include USB charges. The big negative is crossing the street from the hotel. Seems like this is a big issue with many guest trying to cross the street.

The hotel is magnificent and very photographable. We enjoyed a great time exploring the hotel and taking photos. The buffet breakfast has a good spread. The Heritage wing room provides complementary minibar drinks (including a bottle of wine), daily newspaper, 3 piece of laundry services. (Victoria Annex rooms do not have these complementary services except corner suites.) The room are cleaned twice daily for both buildings. The hotel is a short walk to the main old town area. And can easily take grab to explore further places. However, there are some shortcomings of this hotel which we find irritating. The first night our room was facing the city, and there’s endless motorcycles passing by over the night. We can hardly have a good sleep. The second night we requested a sea view room. The motorcycle noise is gone, but at 7am+ we were waken up by the door closing sound of our neighbor. We then realized the door did not have a soft closing feature/buffer, and it’s making a VERY LOUD SOUND when it’s closed. Our neighbor walked in and out more than 5 times in 7-9am, so we can barely have a good sleep in the morning. So if you request a sea view room, and are generally an early bird, this hotel is still a great a choice!

Great hotel, perfect situated just outside old town in Georgetown. Only backside is the very few sunbeds at the pool, annoying. Breakfast good, not fantastic. Rooms on the otherside es really great! And great service. Gym ok but quite small. On the Whole a good hotel that for sure can be recommended.

Nice hotel. Heiritage wing is the old classic hotel. Victory Annexe is newer section and has its own reception but you can walk between the two. Rooms a bit noisy in the morning due to hard floors.

This is a satisfactory hotel but not 5*. It obviously was a very grand hotel in its day but needs renovated to bring it up to those former standards. The location overlooks the sea but it is not a good view! The saviour for us was Nagesh at reception who was extremely friendly and helpful. The other member of staff was Lillian in the bar area who was a ray of positivity and excellent service. The food at breakfast had lots of options but the quality should be better. Those hot dishes being offered where often cold and are not being kept at the right temperature. The suite we had was of a good size and a wonderful power shower....which we loved. The toiletries where also of a good standard. The television must be one of the smallest I have ever encountered on my travels and certainly should not be a suite. Overall I think there are better hotels to be had for the money being charged.

Rooms were large and nicely appointed. Breakfast excellent. Staff very good. My stay was in Victory but friends stayed in Heritage and got a lot of add ons I didnt have access to. Overall a very pleasant experience.

I recently stayed at the E&O Penang and overall had a very good experience. The room itself was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well kept. I needed a few extra items like towels, and although I had to ask, the staff responded quickly and efficiently, which I really appreciated. One area that could be improved is the food offering. The room service menu is quite limited, especially late at night. Arriving back at the hotel around 11:30pm to find the bars and restaurants closed left very few options, which was a little disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Some of the common areas, particularly around the pool and outdoor spaces, are starting to show their age and could benefit from a refresh. It would also be great to see more variety in the food choices across the hotel, especially more local Asian options. Overall, though, it’s a solid 4 out of 5 stay — classic, comfortable, and with excellent service when needed. With a few updates and broader dining options, it could easily reach a 5.

Hotel has a history and the surrounding environment is nice for sure, the restaurant at 6 floor, facing the seashore and relaxing. Management quality of the hotel can be improved however. Specially, I found a total of around 10 ants at random places over two days in the room. The luggage being said will send to the room, but it never appear after 3 hours. Staffs at reception desks can be nicer and more helpful.

Disappointing stay. Property is definitely trading on its history and is in dire need of updating. Room issues were not addressed and breakfast was so poor that we went out instead. Assistant manager called once and then never followed up. Would not stay again and wouldn't recommend.

Staff are not friendly. The person who picked us up from the airport drove insanely fast and had bad quality driving. The receptionist who checked us in was less than enthusiastic. Morning buffet is amazing, and so are the staff members who work in the restaurant, as well as the cleaning staff. Lunch buffet food was mostly cold.

Stay was good and room as expected. Overall not too bad but expected better service from check in to dining. Requested for slightly earlier check in as my baby needs a nap but seems staff does not bother. Second, was trying to grab coffee at the restaurant on Ground floor and was directed here and there without anyone serving us. Eggs Benedict (breakfast) on the 6th floor was terrible.

Staff in general not very friendly except the doormen and porters. Cockroach at noodle area at breakfast. Just not a welcoming vibe in general. I’m a platinum member with an established group of hotels and I forwent that to experience something different and I found the hotel to be nothing special. May have the laurels of being 140 years old but the welcoming is definitely not that.

no advise given that parking is free and touch and go card needs to be validated every time we go out (knew about this only on second day when we asked on it). Also not advised drinks in minibar were free. only knew on the last day when someone came to ask us if needed any additional. Should check in counter not advise on this when checking in ? Sent an email a few days before checking in if our room is at the new or old wing and no reply received as a result had to run around looking for our correct wing (seems to be a common problem as that’s the first thing concierge will ask).

Gute Lage um nach Georg Town zu gehen und ein wunderschöner Blick auf das Meer. Allerdings, für Strandliebhaber nicht geeignet. Dazu muss man nach Batu Feringhi.

The hotel is gorgeous and located right on the water in walking distance of all Georgetown attractions. It is a grand hotel in every sense - luxurious, comfortable and with a wonderful staff. A great place to stay in Penang.

Wonderful hotel beautiful room and housekeeping excellent. We were upgraded to a room that allowed drinks and canapés in the Cornwallis lounge. Fantastic location walking distance to the street art and Chew Jetty. Buffet in the evening is excellent value and the breakfast amazing. Staff also wonderful cannot fault this!

We stayed in the Heritage wing which has a charm all of its own. The room layout was lovely, however, the bathroom seems due for an update. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food in the Palm Court restaurant and the bar was very good. The Cornwallis was a treasure, a lounge where you can cool down and relax with a complimentary drink.

Always love to stay in this hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcome your stay. Enjoyed the Breakfast buffet at Sarkies esp roti canai, char kyaw tiau, and the juices.

Hotel is looking tired. Needs a good clean and fresh paint. Service was very mixed, excellent at the bar but poor at breakfast (making my own pot of tea rather than waiting 20 min for someone to bring it)

Great iconic hotel - good value overall - we stayed in the Victory wing and the rooms are spacious and we preferred to the heritage section. Service was polite, not overbearing and the hotel had a nice relaxed feel. Lovely infinity pool. Breakfast catered adequately fif every taste.

Generally a decent hotel with great facilities and room size. Could have put more emphasis on small details like choice of light switches (looks white and very plain, not matching the vibe). One thing to note that if you book room on the victory annexe, you’re not able to use facilities (swimming pool and breakfast) at the heritage wing. But you got your own pool and breakfast location at Victory Annexe. Overall it’s still a great option at Penang!

Fantastic place! Bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and spotless. All amenities were well appointed and maintained. Breakfast and dining options were excellent as well as the bar - very cozy. Location was excellent too. Everything we wanted to city in town was within walking distance or a short Grab ride away.
