Maze Backpackers - Sydney

I spent 4 nights in a single room. The room: it's basic, but the bed is very comfortable despite its spartan appearance. The linen was clean and a towel was provided. There is no air-conditioning, but a wall-mounted fan works perfectly well. Basically the room does the job considering I wasn't in Sydney to camp at the hostel. The toilets and showers are shared and my fear was the level of hygiene. Here too, I was pleasantly surprised; the bathroom is always clean. Luggage: I stored it in the room as the door has a magnetic access card. The only downside was the 2 floors you had to climb without a lift with 2 pieces of luggage and a computer. But that's my fault, there's a room in the basement where you can store luggage you don't need. And here too Maize is very practical, because on check-out day, if you still want to hang around the city, the hostel offers to store your luggage for free. Finally, of course, its location right in the centre of town is exceptional, for a very low price.

위치 : 매우 만족스러움. 밤늦게도 안전한 것 같고 아시안 식당과 마트가 주변에 많음 주방 : 스토브도 많고 밥먹기 편함. 냉장고는 없음. 객실 : 싱글룸 이용했는데 괜찮음. 책상도 있었음. 다만 난방은 안 됨. 전기장판 이용해서 괜찮았음. 스탭들 모두 친절하고 위생도 좋음. 화장실도 만족스러웠음. 단점 딱 2개 뽑으라면 냉장고와 난방임.

繁華街の中にあり便利。普通のホステルと異なり、個室にリーズナブルな価格で泊まれるので、一人になりたいときには非常に良い。ホステルなので、キッチンも充実しており、自炊も出来る。

スタッフの対応はとても良い。24時間対応で助かった。エレベーターがないので、荷物を運ぶのが大変だった。下がクラブになっているので夜中はうるさい。女性専用のシャワーとトイレなので安心出来た。シャワーの水圧が弱い。

The price was reasonable. Not being a elevator there would make us feel very inconvenient.

We stayed here for four nights in early December. Got a private room with a bunk bed. The hostel is surprisingly large, which brings some plusses and some minuses. The room was typically small, but the beds were ok and the sheets were clean. There was a table for your things, and one chair. There was no AC, we left the window open and slept fine but it is probably worse as it gets hotter outside. There was a good fan in the room attached to the wall, but assuming all the rooms are set up the same, the fan blows on the person in the top bunk and not at all on the person on the bottom. The kitchen is possibly the largest I've ever seen in a hostel. Lots of pans/dishes to use, there must have been 8 stations with burners and I think three microwaves, plus places to store food, and people were reasonably good at cleaning up after themselves. The shared bathroom was ok (I can only speak to the men's room). There were a couple of toilets and five showers. There was very little room to move around so if someone was at a sink it was awkward getting by. Importantly though, the water was always hot and pressure was good. But given the size of the hostel, there were always others in there with you. Biggest gripe was the wifi. It was good when it worked, but it would disconnect frequently, like every few minutes. It did better on our phones, but the laptops really struggled, even if we were just doing light browsing. Overall it was a good hostel. The second floor is quieter.

Well organised hostel, staff really good. Unfortunately guests slam doors and there's a lot of noise from the traffic and extractor fans. Great that you can leave luggage in lockers and kitchen very well equipped. Lots of bathrooms cleaned regularly, did see a couple of cockroaches in corridor. Very handy location just 5 min walk from the train station

Fine hostel. The beds were not too comfortable. They lack storage space in the kitchen and refrigerators. But great events, well equipped kitchen and friendly people

Great hostel! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Rooms are cleaned daily and public areas are cleaned multiple times a day. Perfect location, with everything you need close by. Fun events almost everyday to keep you entertained make friends! Highly recommend if you are new to Sydney, doing a WHV, and are trying to find your feet.

Great location. 1 short block from George St trams up& down city. Very clean bathroom and kitchen. Im a grandmother, had a small single room that was basic but clean. Don't expect the Ritz because it is a backpackers, but cheap prices give very good value for central Sydney. Friendly reception.

Mine was an overnight stay for business reasons. I knew I would not be spending much time at the property because of the business commitments so just needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. The Maze suited my convenience perfectly. I booked a private room with shared bathroom facilities, which were spotless and convenient to my room.

Great location. Pretty poorly maintained and noisy at night despite their signs saying "strictly no noise after 11pm". The toilets were gross. And there's a reason it's called the maze, the labrinth of hallways to find your room and toilet are astonishing. Worse when a toilet is closed for cleaning so you need to walk a marathon to releive yourself.

There were cockroaches in the room, it was very hot and very loud due to plant noise right outside the window. Only thing going for it was the price but when you can’t sleep, it’s not worth very much.

The staff were nice, although one lass seemed really confused every time I spoke to her. The room itself was clean, beds were comfortable enough, but the bathrooms were disgusting. There was always water on the floor of the toilets, the sanitary bins were overflowing, the hand dryer didn't work and it was just generally unpleasant and run down.

Fuyez ! J'y ai passé un séjour de 10 jours sans avoir pu dormir une seule nuit. Il n'y a aucune insonorisation entre le 3eme étage qui faisait littéralement trembler mes murs jusqu'à 4h du matin, idem pour les chambres de gauches et droite: appels, séries, claquements de portes... j'entendais tout, même avec les boules quies. La propreté de l'endroit laisse à désirer, parties communes sales à partir de midi, l'eau de la douche était froide le soir, cafards morts ou vivants plein les couloirs avec supplément cafard dans ma valise... l'enfer. Tout cela a vraiment gâché mes vacances, il leur était impossible de rembourser mon séjour que j'avais déjà payé. J'ai donc du sacrifier mon sommeil et mon hygiène pendant 10 jours, c'était abominable. Le seul point positif est qu'il est extrêmement bien placé, dans le centre, près de la gare et du tram. Proche de tout.

The beds were comfy and the location is excellent. The kitchen was pretty clean and there seemed to be plenty of equipment for use. The towel was a nice touch. However, this hostel was not the cleanest. The rooms didn’t feel especially clean (although the bedding did). The bathrooms were definitely not very clean. The sanitary bins were overflowing

No a/c!

Terrible wifi as well. I have fairly low standards, I’ve stayed in many hostels. I’d rate it higher if the price was a bit lower, felt it was a bit overpriced for the cleanliness, noise, wifi etc

Warm staff and centrally located to everything this backpackers is no frills but perfectly adequate for a cheap fun trip to the city. Can be a bit noisy but otherwise was fine for a night!

The staff were friendly and the events put on at the hostel by staff were great. The location was awesome as it was very central so walking everywhere was convenient. With it being located on a busy street, the rooms facing the street are extremely noisy, but the rooms off the Main Street were fine noise wise. My only issue was that the room I was in did not have a wifi signal in the room so I had to stay in common areas to use the wifi or use my cellular data.

You get what you pay for. Decent accommodation and pretty clean. Staff are at the desk 24/7 to help. Quite busy and full of people.

Upon early arrival Milo was a great help at reception! Overall stay was good, nice location, close to Central station, World Square, Paddy’s Market, many restaurants & shops.

Beds were nice but had to show if every time I entered and wait for them to check that I was a guest. Very inconvenient. But overall amazing location

I was here some time ago and things are different but the staff are friendly and helpful.

Solution intéressante pour se loger sans trop dépenser malgré la petitesse de la chambre. Des animations sont prévues. Bon accueil. En revanche je n' ai pas du tout aimé la façon dont la chef du ménage s adressait aux employés devant les clients. Elle a oublié que c était des personnes et pas des chiens. Elle s en ait pris à une jeune fille en l insultant. Elle a oublié d où elle venait cette femme ? Même si le jeune femme avait commis une erreur de zonne ce n était pas là peine de s en prendre à elle comme elle l' a fait et de l humilier.

Friendliness of staff and shop retailers in the area. Location within walking distance to light rail and close to everywhere I wanted to go. Julian a guest who took my bag up to the second floor then was interested to know my opinion on where I went. I felt completely safe walking in the street at night being on my own and female. Most guests ignored me but this I didn't mind since the desk staff were so friendly. I'd gladly stay again. This was the first holiday I had by myself so I got to go where I wanted without having to compromise to suit someone else. I was born in Sydney and loved living there, I'd move back if it wasn't so expensive to rent. Coffee cafes cheaper than Queensland.

They have a discounted parking deal with a parking site very close by which was very reasonable. Room with double bed small but you expect that in a hostel. Great location in Haymarket.

Maze backpackers did exactly what we needed, located in a pretty good spot in the CBD. Sydney is pretty massive, so you need to walk or take taxis to get anywhere fast, but a comfortable walk from the Darling Harbour area with lots of shopping around.

It's in the middle of the city. A single for $150 (2 nights) is quite good value. I was on the top floor. No lifts. For someone awaiting a foot reconstruction, this was a problem. Toilets showers could have been marked better and were a fair way from the room. It's called Maze for a reason and feels like it walking around. Maybe more signage could improve things.
