Baranof Downtown, BW Signature Collection

Great location, free parking. Walls are incredibly thin, hear everything from the rooms on both sides. Ear plugs necessary.

We stayed here for one night, as it was after a small cruise. Noting that we were only here for about 15 hrs it served it purpose as close to the downtown area, which is relatively small (but great!). There is no air-conditioning in Alaska for the most part, but you can open the windows and use the small fan provided. Wallpaper was peeling in our room, and the elevator is quite slow. Overall the building is dated, the bar is nice, the service was great, and the location/cost is acceptable. Note, we were told no fish processing the room. :)

Convenient town location. No airort shuttle .

At the “upper end” of town but within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and sights. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. A good sized, clean room with everything you could need. There was an issue with only one lift working at the time which caused some chaos and delays due to the amount of guests (cruise ship guest influx) but that was the only negative and not something the hotel could easily fix in a day as they needed to get the part in from elsewhere in the state. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

The restaurant at the hotel is opened only for breakfast.

Pipes burst first night. Heater was stuck on high in the room. Water went out on day 2. Restaurant closed all days. Coffee shop no longer open. Staff was amazing and would be the only reason I return.

Rooms are nice but hard to sleep with all the street noise. Elevators require prayer. Lack of airport shuttle is crippling. If you get in late you are screwed for getting there as Juneau really shuts down after dark.

We stayed for 4 days in first week of September.. elevator did not work for most of the time we were on the nineteenth floor and end up taking stairs . Rooms were extremely hot and they had no fans we could wait to leave

Restaurant not open for dinner!

Hotel is old. Looks like carpet has never been replaced. Furniture was dusty. Advertised raised toilets. Mine did not have one. Advertised restaurant but it was only open for breakfast and lunch. No room service. No shuttle.

It was shocking and unbelievable to me that for such a rundown, smelly, dirty, poorly lit hotel and rooms that have tiny bathrooms, and too much furniture in the bedroom area would charge so much money for this property. The owners need to restore the hotel or gut it completely. The neighborhood itself is OK historic district but the buildings surrounding the hotel Dilapidated and boarded up so there’s a lot of people squatting. I feel like a stupid person for paying that much money!

The staff was welcoming. The location is very good. The overall condition of the property and the rooms is poor. The price is ridiculously high given the property condition.

Could not sit on toilet w door open, door hits toilet. Bathroom so small. Not clean and smells bad. Beds comfy and service was good.

Bed was fine, but the building is old and run down. The room was extremely hot and, after talking to a local resident, it seems that this is normal - it’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There doesn’t seem to be good temperature regulation. Service was fine and they were friendly enough as a whole.

A faded landmark in need of serious renovation, this was one of the loudest and most uncomfortably warm hotels I have ever experienced. Maintaining a bearable room temperature required opening the window, letting in constant street noise from late night rabble rousers to pre-dawn street cleaners and trash pickups. Banging radiator pipes woke us multiple times. In most other cities, this would be considered a low end property with its dated furnishings and finishes. Did not dine in-house, but noticed extremely high prices for breakfast etc.

The room I got- which was one queen bed -was very small maybe comfortable for two adults. The location is good, the port and downtown shops are at a walkable distance.

The room was updated with clean and new carpet, extremely comfortable mattress and bedding, great tv with lots of options to watch, clean and remodeled bathroom, nice bath mirror and shower, bath products, bath lighting was new. No nasty smells. Biggest downside is old, hot water radiator heating so hot in summer without AC, however windows open. Also walls are thin. Fortunately, i had quiet neighbors. We had excellent black cod and salmon in bar restaurant. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Staff is accommodating.

Older property with issues in the room such as the bathroom door not being able to open and close without difficulty. We traveled in July, and with temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s on some days, it would have been really nice to have air conditioning. Great staff and it was nice to have an on-site restaurant. The food was average priced and okay.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in 2 hours early. Our room was clean and comfortable. There was no shower curtain when we arrived but staff brought one within an hour of the request. The hotel restaurant had good food with friendly staff. The concierge, Kelli, was excellent and helped us book 2 amazing excursions. The hotel is close to several other restaurants and walkable to shopping and the cruise ship area. We stayed for 6 nights. Our room was cleaned every day and stocked with fresh towels. We were very pleased with our stay.

Nicely renovated and great downtown location (except for the zombies on Franklin Street) but way overpriced. Staff was clueless although tried to be professional and courteous. No internet in lobby and no concern to fix it. Absolutely hopeless I’m trying to coordinate a taxi to airport…couldda missed flight.. make a taxi list, Simple!

I was double charged, the place is run down and I requested a taxi through the desk person and was told to get my own.

Great location for walking Juneau. Nice, courteous, and efficient staff.

Honest and fair review. Room was comfy. Bed was very comfortable. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Hotel has a cool historic vibe. Walls are thin. When using the bathroom we could hear people talking in the common hallway on the other side of the wall. It didn’t bother us, but noteworthy. Great neighborhood. Far enough from the docks to not be too noisy, yet walkable in only five minutes. Lots of good food nearby. Here’s the bed. An item disappeared from our room. When we went to the front desk (twice) the best answer I got was “we pride ourselves on the honesty of our housekeeping”, followed by connecting me to housekeeping to ask after my missing item. No offer of help at all from the front desk. I got a call the next day from housekeeping to say, “no one took anything”. As if someone who took something would offer that information. This is not about the missing item. Things sometimes get thrown out accidentally (I’m choosing to assume no one would take something intentionally). But surely this could have been handled better by the front desk. When we checked out, my husband again expressed our displeasure. The young girl at the desk at the time simply shrugged her shoulders. We have family in Juneau and plan to visit. I’ll be staying elsewhere next visit.

Great location good reasonable priced breakfast

The hotel is older, but very comfortable. Improvements were made since we were here a year ago. Dining room was nice for breakfast x2. I would happily stay there again. It's nice to have the food trucks next door!

The Baranof is a beautiful old hotel at a nice location in the middle of Old Town Juneau. Given that it is a historic place, it feels a bit worn and could use a little freshening up. The service was friendly and helpful. Dining was only in the bar, but the food was good. We had a nice view from our window. The only slight problem was some very loud music from the open-air pub next door on Friday night, but they didn't go on too long.

Excellent breakfast service

Great stay at the Baranof. Staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good, though not included. You choose between menu, which is good and buffet, which is so-so.

Restaurant not open for dinner!

The property is pretty old but clean, staff was helpful. Location is close to all the downtown things to see. The restaurant is terrible much better options nearby.
