Hotel Seward by Aspen Hotels

We really enjoyed the Hotel Seward. A historic property that has been nicely renovated. The location was wonderful, within a short walk to the waterfront, restaurants, shops, and the Alaska Sealife Center. The hotel was VERY clear about this on their website. Some of the older parts of the hotel use a SHARED bathroom. They tell you which rooms do and do not have this. However, there were people coming in and acting like it was a big surprise and trying to get a room with a private bath. CHECK before you go if this is important to you. Also, they do not have a complimentary breakfast. Make note of that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provide a shuttle service to spots around Seward. This was important and helpful to us as we arrived by train and departed on the cruise ship. They accommodated all those needs. We would recommend the Hotel Seward.

This hotel is convenient to area tourist attractions, with free shuttle service available. It is within walking distance to the Sea Life Center and even to the pier.

Room wasn't ready for 4pm checkin, as someone else was in it; front desk said they'd be gone by 5pm, then would clean room and it would be ready by 5:30. They did tell us we can check out at 12:30pm instead of 11am. Ice machine not working. Water in shower either too hot or too cold (mixing valve on faucet not working?)

Tough climb up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator for two seniors dragging luggage around for an 8 day travel experience.

Staff promptly brought us a fan and suggested dining options.Laundry facility was a great amenity

The shuttle driver picked us up at the train station, handled our bags and was a great guy. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful.

There is the historic part of the hotel and the modern. We accidentally booked the historic side with no elevator and very small rooms. They were very accommodating and switched us to the modern side with elevators. They have a van that will also take you anywhere you wanna go in town.

Proprietor was very accommodating storing bags and shuttling us to the train.

Situated at the end of Seward , it was very nice, clean , easy and free parking . Beautiful bedrooms . You can have breakfast ( buffet) at the closed by edgewater hotel .

Very positive feeling upon arrival, but the facilities had a few odd quirks. The parking area has a limited number of spaces so if you arrive late you will likely be parking on the street (which limits one to 2 hours during the day). If you prefer tea to coffee you won't have many options; one person at the front desk suggested using the (single serving) coffee maker to warm water, which some tea drinkers might object to as the drink will then have a coffee taste. (btw, I overheard this same person tell a client the street parking was unlimited - demonstrably false). Most of the front desk staff were helpful, so this one person seemed like an outlier; but it did diminish the overall impression of the hotel.

The hotel was quaint and cozy. Good bed, everything was clean. We had a room with a shared bathroom in the hallway - the bathroom was also very clean. The walls are a bit thin (we were in the old part of the hotel) but it was mostly quiet during the night. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Oh my god send a health official there immediately. Walked into a freezing room with a wet window and carpet due to the window being left open in pouring rain, NO battery in the smoke detector, peeling paint, thin door dividing our room and the neighboring bathroom (heard ever. Single. Bolidly function. Peeling bathroom tiles, paper towel despenser was jammed and not fixed the whole stay, and the iicing on the cake, is what I'm pretty sure is MOLD growing in the SHARED bathroom. 0/10.

Basic room and the bed was fairly comfortable. Not the cleanest place in the world (used tooth flosser on the floor of the bathroom, which was obviously not swept in a while) and no air conditioning, but otherwise okay. The "historic" section is basically code for very dated. No headboard for the bed, squeaky floor in the bathroom, burned out lightbulbs in the bathroom and bedroom, could hear all the neighbors above and next door. And yes, no A/C, which I should have remembered is not always standard in the pacific northwest, so that's my mistake. The on-site restaurant is very good, although pretty pricey, and it's close to other stuff in Seward (although, pretty much everything is close to everything in Seward). It was good enough for a night, and a good $100+ cheaper than most of the other places in town. But for a longer stay, the lack of air flow would definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Enjoyed our stay, room was clean and comfy. Staff was helpful and we were able to check in a bit early.

Our room was not ready at checkin time. Bathroom floor flooded. Leaking from ceiling. We were given extra towels to clean the water up. No maintenance person available. No rooms available to move. No compensation given.

This was a terrible stay the tub was plugged up with hair. The bedding wasn't adequate we froze all night. We checked out early and went home.

The only thing to like about this property is its location close to Resurrection Bay. Enjoyed our walk there and spending time. Nothing else is convenient. The property is pretty run down. In the first room we were offered (room122) there was collection of some dirt in the bathtub that had not been cleaned. The windows were opened and couldn't be closed back and very unsafe as this room is on the first floor and the windows opened into an ally way. Later we found some water was bubbling up into the bathtub from below while we waited for another room to be allotted. We were given another room (room 121) despite my request for a room in 2nd floor as we felt unsafe staying in first floor room where the windows had stayed open. We were promised this room would have all these issues addressed. The bathtub was clean and o.k in the new room but the windows were still had been opened out. I couldn't close the window. Asked the front desk person for help and he came with a set of tools and closed the window with the help of those tools. The room was quite small and no comfortable furniture to sit (there were no chairs or any furniture with arm rests). Finally there was only one small piece soap in the room for the two of us who would be staying for 2 nights. This had to be used for both bath and washing our hands. When I requested the front desk for more soaps, I was offered 2 more tiny pieces of soap.

We stayed in the old section of the hotel. Could not turn off the heat. Very hot, hard to sleep

Left Hotel Seward early due to emergency, gave full-day notice, still charged for unused night. No response from hotel, even after Expedia tried. #CustomerServiceFail. No air condition . Laundry not working . Rooms are so clean .

Great, historic property. Very clean and welcoming and the room was nice. I would give it a 5 but the bed was very hard and we didn’t sleep well - and that’s why we were there - so overall great experience but wow, the bed not so much .

Close to everything in Seward town. Nice clean, but older property. We were on the 1sr floor which got some noise from outside. But it’s a great economical and convenient place to stay.

They don’t have ACand this is something I wished I would have paid more attention to. Having to keep windows open makes for a lot of outside noise.

Unbeatable location, downtown, walkable to everything. The shower was excellent, with almost immediate hot water. However, the “ queen bed” seemed to really be a double bed, and the mattress was way too soft and it needs to be replaced. Helpful, friendly staff.

My room no 216 was low signal Wi-Fi .Cannot use all 4 nights staying there. Nobody can’t help anything.

Room was comfortable, including the mattress and pillows. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 teens. Front desk staff were warm and friendly. Had great recommendations for hikes.

Hotel Seward is a cute little hotel with lovely decor. Check in was quick and easy. Even got extra pillows delivered to our room as soon as requested. Will definitely be back to stay here.

When I had booked, previous reviews said the Seward Hotel was old & dated, so I was expecting historical character. The hotel has been tastefully renovated! The bed was blissfully comfortable. The Service from the lovely young lady at Reception was impeccable, even though they had only be opened 10 days since the Reno & it was a very busy day with 2 cruise ships in. The shuttle bus driver really deserves a good tip With his pleasant demeanour & bag lifting skills & commentary.

Very friendly staff. Went over and above to provide excellent service with every request. Perfect location in Seward old town close to local shopping, food and drink. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff were amazing! The hotel is beautiful! And accommodating is an understatement. They have shuttle service and will hold your bags so you can enjoy Seward before check in and after checkout. 5 stars all around!

Liked the location. The staff was lost in space. Nobody I interacted with knew what they were doing. Worst experience ever.

This property was in a very convenient location for walking everywhere. We did take a free shuttle to the restaurant for dinner. Seward is a lovely little town.

This is a fine hotel down near the downtown waterfront, close to bars, the Alaska SeaLife Center — all within walking distance. The main harbor, glacier cruises and fishing charters are about a mile or so away, but Seward’s downtown amenities are close at hand. Rooms are quiet; blackout curtains are good, decor and artwork is historical and fun. No complaints whatsoever!

Great location, near the lovely river walk trail and in the heart of downtown, even walkable to the port for a boat trip into Kenai National Park.

Hotel Seward is in the middle of downtown Seward. You are walking distance to the the Sealife Center, the brewery, and half a dozen restaurants and bars. Above the bottom floor, all the views a terrific views of the surrounding mountains. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only complaint I could think of is the lack of in-house breakfast. Of course, there are very GOOD options for breakfast in town, but I really like to start my day with breakfast.

Hotel in great area. Minutes to the Port and all the other day cruise companies. Clean, quiet, super friendly staff, MaryClaire especially. Our first trip to Alaska. You won't be disappointed.

The staff were accommodating, however when the train arrives at 11.30 and the check in time is 4 pm and it is very often wet, it can be a long wait. The room was comfortable even though a bit too warm. The bar and restaurant were very good. Over all a positive and enjoyable stay. Great hot water.

The food in the bistro restaurant was excellent

Staff was extra nice and helpful. Did not like the idea of no breakfast and the option offered at the Edgewater was expensive and terrible!

We really enjoyed the onsite restaurant. Excellent food and exceptional service with such a tiny operation. Our room was comfortable though not very quiet. It would benefit from more lighting and options to hang clothes or towels. Staff was warm and friendly. Shuttle driver to our bus pick up was also very helpful. Housekeeping did freshen towels as expected but did not remake bed.

An old Hotel that was remodeled to keep the original feel. A really good restaurant with great food and prices. Our room's tv didn't work at all much to my husband's dismay. The shower was nice but it leaked all over the floor and no bath mat! This hotel is with in walking distance if many stores and restaurants.
