The property is beautiful, with Duck Key offering a modern feel compared to Key Largo, and the other Keys - excluding Key West. It’s nice that it’s in the middle so to speak. Downfalls: the staff at the front office, coffee shop, and Salt and Ash are complacent: Our check in experience left us feeling like we were an inconvenience - not friendly and not helpful. The dining experience at Salt and Ash was so disappointing too. Our server just wasn’t engaged - she forgot some orders and blamed the kitchen, she forgot to ring in items to the point that we cancelled the last drink order and settled our bill after waiting so long. On the bright side, the *housekeeping staff are absolutely lovely. The gents working the front *valet and door area are exceptional and great resources for travel and activity advice. The service team at Angler and Ale are exceptional - I can’t recall her name but she’s from Philly. Best, friendliest service of the trip! In conclusion, Hawks Cay suffers from some inconsistent service but is so close to being amazing. I still recommend it. Our family had a nice stay and enjoyed pool, lagoon, area in general (Turtle hospital was fun), and we used it as a kick off spot to explore the Keys. BTW don’t miss Blue Heaven and the Hemingway museum/house in Key West!

The splash pad was closed. So if you have a small child don't plan on using it. We only found out after booking and dropping 2k on a room for a week. A room with no hooks at a beach resort (like pictured) so we had wet suits and towels hanging all over. We lost power on property multiple times. One time being over an hour and no generator or anything kicked on. My boyfriend ended up proposing on hawks cay property and planned with your staff to have white chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our room after the proposal. He clarified it with staff 4 different times day of plus plenty of planning before hand. The berries and champagne never showed up. They arrived the next day, in the middle of the day while I was attempting to enjoy the completely run down spa, with the wrong chocolate and some pineapple thrown in randomly too. No one informed him they couldn't complete the white chocolate request, and they certainly didn't inform him that it was going to be $100 for a bottle of house champagne and 4 chocolate covered berries. The service at angle and ale was the worst service I've ever received. We literally had to get up and Chase our server down just to pay our bill. We really wanted to host our wedding here but that is definitely not happening. Very disappointing Hawks cay. It's time to start putting money back into the resort, you charge guests enough of it

I booked the family accessible room bc hotels.com listed this with a fully furnished balcony and even showed a photo of balcony. Got to the room—no balcony. Went to front desk (had to leave and come back bc line was so long) and when I finally spoke to the manager she said she didn’t have any balcony rooms avail. They were booked completely out. Bathroom was dirty in our room-black grout lines and some hair around the flood, handle for shower to turn on was very loose, no bar of soap holder, no fan in bathroom so it got very wet and walls —moisture issues. Everything else was ok-my daughter had a good time but very pricey and a ton of random service fees on my bill. Expected a bit more for $400 per night room at resort in the Keys.
