The room was nice. We had a small balcony overlooking the adjacent building but we could stretch to see out on the street. The gym was absolutely disappointing. Small, hot, very limited equipment and half of the minimal equipment was broken. There was no bathroom, no water and no hand sanitizer. Really disappointing for Boston where everyone exercises. Went to the “ice and microwave” room and there was a big cockroach on the chair. And trash everywhere. I was told in the restaurant that I have to come pick up my order and they would not deliver it to the room. But there is room service listed. They delivered after all. Food was very good. And , the valet group is really special. They charge a lot, more than listed on the website. Then they charge more after certain time (2pm) even though it clearly says on the website that parking is 24 h. Fantastic location. Service and upkeep is not what I expected in such an old Boston hotel.

Great location. Lovely staff. Tired and worn out hotel with dated decor and amenities. Only 1 of 2 elevators worked and the hotel was busy. 1 ice machine that did not work the time I attempted to use it.

The one elevator was non functional our entire stay. Then the last full day when the broken elevator started working we rode it one time. Then both elevators were non functional and we had to navigate the stairs which were not easily accessed.

Run down hotel in a great location. Had to change rooms because of ac. Second room ac unit had to be rebooted. Charge a fee for a mini fridge. Phones didn't work to call front desk so each time I had to go back downstairs. The resort fees, not sure what they're for as there was no business center, unless you call a broken computer in a hallway a business center. Gym was questionable. Lastly, false advertising on parking fees. Stated 56 for valet a night, and when I got there it was 68. There has to be other hotels with a great location.

Hard to believe this is a 4 star hotel. Rooms need a lot of updating, wallpaper peeling or have stains on it. The main theme during this stay is doors dont work. Doors in main entrance say soft touch automatic doors but they are not, elevator doors bang loudly and sometimes take three tries to shut before the elevators start working. Sliding bathroom door in our room didn't shut so we asked the front desk person to have someone look at it while we were at dinner. When we came back she said someone took a look at it and it should be good. Went back to the room and door was still stuck at the same position (i.e. no one came to look at it). Eventually asked for another room which was available. Staff seem either overworked and/or don't seem to care all that much. We didnt feel all that welcome. Hotel restaurant forgot to put in a food order and we had to wait an extra hour for my daughter's meal. Luckily her meal was comp'd. Pictures of the rooms on expedia don't show how drab the rooms look. Will not stay here again.

Place seems a lot more run down than our previous stay. 1 elevator broken, a portable ac unit in room taped to a plastic sheet covering the window. Just basing my rating on overall condition between what seems to be a non functional bathroom fan switch, dirty windows, and furniture condition. Not sure what the $30 "resort fee" is.. there are not many amenities.. not even a room fridge. TV has popped up ads on screen making me get up to skip them.. The location to food options is great. Its kinda far from the subway entrances though. Scattered thoughts.. there were a lot of higher rated options for the same price and we only picked it because it was so nice last time.

Our room smelled of stale smoke. I opened the patio door to find that it was already ajar. I assumed that the cleaning crew left it this way due to the smell. However, that was not the case. The lock to the door was broken which made for a continuous draft and brought in the noise from Faneuil Hall late into the night. In addition, when we went to turn on our TV to watch the end of the last game of the World Series, we found that we had no service. I tried calling the front desk but our phone was not working either. I was forced to go downstairs (in my pajamas) to lodge my complaint. Maintenance came to our room and told us there was a work order submitted to fix our TV which never got resolved. Not only did we miss the World Series game, but we missed the NYC Marathon the next morning. I know this may not seem like a big deal for most, but as a finisher years ago, it does mean something to me. Maintenance offered to remove our door to fix it but, as you can imagine, this was less than convenient for us given that we wanted to be in our room. Obviously, we asked to change rooms but this was not an option as the hotel was fully booked. Lastly, we found a prior guest's dirty gym socks left on the desk chair in our room. Maintenance did remove these for us but, as you can imagine, we didn't feel at all confident that our room was clean given that the cleaning crew over looked something so obvious. I emailed the hotel with all of my issues and they never replied.

Lots of black mold in bathroom shower floor and stall glass wall caulking! Toilet didn’t work well took maintenance long time to fix the issue partially. This is an old hotel and the price is not a good value. The only thing we liked was the location close proximity to the north end and Quincy Market.

The location is very walkable and makes it easy to explore the city, which was a big plus. However, for the $1k+ price we paid for only two nights and the fact that it’s listed as a 4-star hotel, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance. Upon entering the bathroom, I immediately noticed a wet, dirty towel left inside the sink. The wall next to the toilet had what appeared to be lotion or residue smeared on it. There was visible mold and mildew throughout the bathroom, particularly in the shower area and on the shower curtain. I also found a pretty large yellow stain on the right side of my bed sheet Additionally, we were surprised to find a large pane of glass—possibly from a window—leaning against the wall near the AC unit and desk, which felt unsafe and out of place.

Staff was very friendly and welcoming but the hotel overall is not good. Very run down and in need of not just a deep cleaning but a complete renewal. It is very dark in the hallways and kind of spooky feeling. The room was filthy and worn out. There was no fridge, all the lights are difficult to operate and the heating was turned off with only AC on but it was cold at night. The location is good but as Boston is a very busy city the noise in the room from the street was unbelievable.

The location of the Bostonian Hotel was perfect for seeing the historic sites, restaurants, and iconic neighborhoods. Everything is within walking distance and the hotel in in the center of everything. The hotel was clean and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

Lobby was so nice, thought we were going to have a great stay but we were wrong. Check in was smooth but once we got to the wrong it smelled like cigars/cigarettes. There was hair on the pillows and in the bed. We were so tired we didn’t move rooms but the last straw was when we were packing up my husband was checking the drawers and a pair of underwear were in. Room did not smell clean, probably never cleaned in the first place. Mattress was caved in, terrible night sleep. Unacceptable to say the least.

Overall, hotel was nice. Location was the best. Rooms are outdated. Some issues with door to (very small) balcony not closing right. There was a gap in the door so outside air coming in, along with some gnats. Issues with cutain rod not being secured and was concern it was goong to fall. Chris, from maintenance, was very nice and helpful, and front desk was helpful and professional. Rooms were clean. If they refurbish rooms, this will be and excellent hotel.

Upon arriving, there was a fire truck at the hotel..a little unnerving. Apparently a water issue occurred just before we arrived, but no prob. We checked in and the family infront of us was complaining about no AC….We got into our room, the temp was 89, the AC wasnt working, front desk couldn’t do anything for us. No one slept as the temp proceeded to rise to 91 over night. Will never stay here again

This hotel is in a great location to most of the tourist sites in Boston. The rooms are large and well appointed. The first room assigned to us had a portable window unit with an exhaust hose extending out of the window. When I complained, the front desk staff told me that "all of the rooms are like that." When I told them that this is unacceptable, I was "upgraded" to a room with standard air conditioning.

Quiet room with privacy and a bed that you could die in. So comfortable. H20 service and a lotion that is velvety on the skin. Big room beautiful views. Hotel restaurant is amazing as well. Get the garden salad with salmon.

Older decor but clean. Comfortable beds and well appointed show. Our room overlooked Faneuil Hall. Steps away from the freedom trail and the North End. Couldn't be happier with our stay.

This was a perfect spot for our Boston weekend. Right next to Quincy Market, North End, shopping. Beds very comfortable and our room In the 6th floor was very quiet. Didn’t hear hardly any “city” noises. Will definitely say here again.

The clerk at the front desk on checking in was awful. She said the room wasn't ready (I know that since it was 10 AM which is why we asked to check bags) and they would be ready at 3 which is check-in time (they weren't). She said we only had one room yet I held a confirmation from the hotel that we had confirmed AND PAID one night, TWO rooms, two adults. The rooms were not ready at check-in, the only ice machine wasn't working, the carpet needed vacuuming, the bathroom floors needed to be cleaned. The clerk was very condesending and unhelpful. Saturday morning's clerk was a delight, cheerful,helpful, knowlegable. I always stay at the Bostonian when in Boston, I'll rethink that. Great location for sightseeing, airport, restaurants, and shopping.

Be aware that there is a $40 per day destination fee. They also charge $50 if you want to check in early and charge to have a mini fridge in your room. Unheard of! They nickel and dime you for standard features. Also, Originally they put me in a room where the air conditioning wasn’t working, and there was some kind of makeshift air conditioner in there and my view was of a trashcan. They got us another room, but I was disappointed that they would put us in a room that was old and musty and looked like it should’ve been closed for renovation rather than putting us there for a four day stay originally. The front desk staff is not that friendly, but the hotel location is amazing. Close to everything and quiet and peaceful at night. We would stay there again, but I do feel like they may need to step up their front desk customer engagement.

Noisy rooms! There was a wedding reception the night we stayed and guest were very loud until midnight. Staff was dismissive and uninterested in asking them to be quiet. This made for a tiring night.

I would rate this as a 3 Star & definitely not a 4 Star hotel. Would not have normally booked this hotel due to the low Hotels.com customer ratings, but my boss chose this hotel. I stayed here a total of 4 nights: 2 for leisure & 2 for work. The girl who checked me in at the front desk was not helpful & provided no info, as if she assumed I’d stayed here before. I specifically requested on both reservations that I have a room on a high floor on the quiet side of the hotel. First, I was given a 2nd floor room right by the elevators. I was then given a 5th floor room that turned out to be extremely noisy Saturday night due to the nearby nightlife. Had to sleep with earplugs. I do not appreciate it that they had powdered and not liquid creamer for the coffee. The shower had been “renovated”, but the water leaked all over the bathroom floor when I showered; it was awful. The computers at the front desk ran extremely slowly. They had no bottled water at the front desk for free or for sale on Sat & Sun nights. They said you had to walk more than 10 min round-trip to a CVS to purchase bottled water. The hallways in the hotel look very dated. The gym looks like a dungeon. They do not have a concierge & when I requested a recommendation for a nearby restaurant, the girl at the front desk did not ask what type of restaurant & would recommended a very random overly priced restaurant in the North End. This hotel is a very long walk to get to the Charles River Esplanade to run.

The lobby was less than inviting, the staff was not friendly and because we booked through a 3rd party we were treated like 3rd class citizens. Our TV remote did not work and it took many hours and many times to bring it to their attention to get it fixed. I would not stay here again.

Excellent location to historic Boston. We were able to walk to restaurants, sites and shopping all from the front door. The rooms were surprisingly quiet and the bed was comfortable. The staff was all very friendly and helpful!

The location of the Bostonian Hotel was perfect for seeing the historic sites, restaurants, and iconic neighborhoods. Everything is within walking distance and the hotel in in the center of everything. The hotel was clean and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

What a great hotel! So convenient to everything we wanted to see and do. Little Italy is only a few blocks away, Faneuil Park is across the street. It's a great location! We walked most places! Other than the guy checking us in being slow and not listening to me, it was a perfect stay. It seemed like half of the front desk people really didn't know what they were doing. Not sure if they were new or the computer program was difficult. We had a few friendly ones and a few who looked and acted stressed at the computer and didn't raise their heads. But it was a great stay and we will definitely be staying there again!!!!

You can't beat the location. The concierge/valet staff was great. The bed was old and tired, sagged on my side. I ordered 2 American breakfasts at $20/each. The bill came out to over $80. They tack on too many fees. Went down to the bar to have a beer before we hit the town. Was told the beer taps have been turned off and they only offer Budlight and Corona. We got up and left.

The room was nice. We had a small balcony overlooking the adjacent building but we could stretch to see out on the street. The gym was absolutely disappointing. Small, hot, very limited equipment and half of the minimal equipment was broken. There was no bathroom, no water and no hand sanitizer. Really disappointing for Boston where everyone exercises. Went to the “ice and microwave” room and there was a big cockroach on the chair. And trash everywhere. I was told in the restaurant that I have to come pick up my order and they would not deliver it to the room. But there is room service listed. They delivered after all. Food was very good. And , the valet group is really special. They charge a lot, more than listed on the website. Then they charge more after certain time (2pm) even though it clearly says on the website that parking is 24 h. Fantastic location. Service and upkeep is not what I expected in such an old Boston hotel.

We had two room 332 and 334. The toilet did not work in room 334. We were told it would be fixed in the morning at 7am. Upon Checkout at 12:00 it still was not fixed and no room change was offered. Also, no bottled water available. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Location was excellent. Parking garage is across the street. No special rate or validation for parking at $40/day. Beds and bedding were very comfortable.

It was really poor! We made reservations for dinner and when we got to the restaurant the door was locked. The desk said it was closed due to HVAC issues. No sign outside indicating a problem. Called reception on the morning to see if the restaurant was open for breakfast. No! Asked if any coffee was laid out. No, because restaurant provides. Disappointed because one reason we chose the hotel was because it had a restaurant. Had to use my cell phone to reach desk as phone wasn’t working. Shower full of mildew/mold. Gross! Lastly, we had to pay an extra $35 which was a fee for water, and use of other facilities which we didn’t use. And, the taxi the bellman ordered didn’t arrive in time so I had to order my own which arrived immediately. So disappointed and it wasn’t cheap!

The hotel is well located and the room was clean and quiet. I would not recommend the restaurant. We stop in on the way back from shopping for supper and the restaurant was cold and we had to put our coats back on. We also noticed other people doing the same. The food was barley warm. Quiet room with privacy and a bed that you could die in. So comfortable. H20 service and a lotion that is velvety on the skin. Big room beautiful views. Hotel restaurant is amazing as well. Get the garden salad with salmon.

The property was clean enough. Added fees for "location" was ridiculous, $30/night on top of original cost. Beware.The resteraunt attached was such a let down. Overpriced and unedible served in styrofoam. No fresh coffee in the 3 mornings we stayed and desk staff didnt care at all. The concierge were really nice though. And the front lobby was pretty. Definitely not worth the cost.

The Bostonian Hotel is amazing because of its location. Close to everything. Unfortunately, while we were there, many of the amenities were broken or out of order. This included the elevator, coffee maker, central a/c in our room, gym equipment, hot water machine, and the business center/ computer. However, the staff were exceptional and we still had a wonderful stay there.

This hotel is ideally located for all tourist spots in Boston. The room was clean and comfortable. A few cautionary items: if you need WIFI, this is not the hotel for you! The WIFI did not work in my room, even after paying a $35 destination/resort daily fee that was supposed to include WIFI. I was told if I needed to use WIFI, I had to do it in the lobby (which was quite inconvenient for the online meetings). Also, there are only two elevators, and one of them did not work all week. Lastly, the coffee machine in the lobby was broken all week as well. You are warned.

We liked the location in the middle of everything and close to the North End, the staff was fine and it was quiet at night….however the room and hallways were not properly cleaned…dust very visible in the hallways, hand prints on the bathroom door, stained carpet in the room.
