Forgot to clean room one day. Towel rack fell of wall. Told the front desk 3 times to fix it. Done the night before we left. Charged for everything under the sun.

The room was clean and comfortable with all the items a traveler would need. There were a few concerns with the bathroom, including a towel bar next to the tub which kept falling off. It’s instinct to grab it to get out of the tub and it could present a serious injury if a person tries to use it to get out of the tub. In addition, the tub was very slippery which again presented the likelihood of a serious fall. Overall a lovely resort however.

What used to feel like a relaxing, family-friendly destination now feels more like a crowded convention center. From the moment we arrived, it felt like guests were more of a nuisance than welcomed visitors. The atmosphere was chaotic, staff seemed overwhelmed, and there was very little of the warm, accommodating experience we remembered from previous stays. One of the biggest frustrations was parking. Even valet parking — which we paid extra for expecting convenience — became a constant fight. It felt like regular guests were completely overlooked in favor of the large convention groups and bigger companies coming in. Multiple times we struggled just to access parking while conference attendees seemed to take priority for everything. What made the experience even more frustrating was the constant introduction of random “new rules” throughout our stay. Policies seemed to change daily with little communication or consistency, making it difficult to relax or enjoy ourselves. It honestly felt like we were walking on eggshells the entire time, worried we were unknowingly breaking some new restriction. The saddest part was that our kids genuinely felt unwelcome there. What used to feel like a place families could comfortably enjoy together now felt cold and inconvenient toward children and family guests. Instead of feeling relaxed and excited, our family constantly felt like we were in the way. For the price and reputation, the experience was incredibly disappointing.

My wife and I were excited to stay on the beach at Hilton Head and planned our vacation around this hotel. For the money spent, they did not read my notes requesting certain information. We found mold in the ice cubes from the machine on the floor. Rooms had a combo smell of bleach and mold as well. Shower was extra slippery with not mat to alleviate that. Room a/c was loud and did not hold the temperature set! In other words, an ice box. Morning breakfast buffet was sub par. Food was bland or cold. The Westin is one of Marriott’s high end properties. Not so on Hilton Head Island. Extremely disappointed with my choice to stay there. Choose another hotel and avoid these pitfalls.
