Grand Mercure Medan Angkasa

Old hotel that needs maintenance. The plus is we have big room but the bathroom, TV are old. The room has a little bit of humid smell. The wall is thin we could hear the kids running around the hallway and the road noise. The receptionist was nice and accomodating.

Als het Grand Mercure in Medan het vlaggenschip van Mercure is dan weet je dat je deze keten van hotels beter kan overslaan. 2 sterren! Verouderde kamers, verwassen handdoeken, geen body lotion of hair conditioner en een lauwe douche. Bed lag overigens prima. Door de ramadan kon je niet bij het zwembad liggen, de ligstoelen waren weggehaald om tafels voor een buffet te plaatsen. er wordt slecht Engels gesproken en personeel vraagt of je ze wil noemen in de reviews. Dit is jammer omdat elk personeelslid aardig is, sommige vragen er gewoon om. Kortom, perfect hotel voor een paar nachten met prima bed en prettig personeel maar veel meer dan 2 sterren is het niet waard.

This place has got five stars with reason. Everyone in the staff was helpful and friendly. It was really nice looking in the lobby and in general inside, like there were huge red decorations and a Ford car from 1925! Room was as I hoped and expected. Big old-fashioned writing desk (great). Relaxing sofa with a footstool. Water pressure was great in the room. That is not something considered self-evident in hotels in Indonesia. About breakfast. You really had a chance to eat an excellent breakfast. I was so happy to see that there were separate place choices for vegetarians and vegans. Variety was good and I got to eat some tasty food I had not eaten before (I do not name it). Also in other places in the breakfast area were some other hot vegetarian things. And of course as well a lot of fruits and desserts. And drinks like ginger water with sugar and three freshmaded juices. Coffee was the best one I got in Indonesia. Etc., etc. I really enjoyed my stay.

Staff were very courteous and always smiling. Clean rooms. However the gym needs maintenance and was rather run down. Needs attention.
