I have stayed here before and the staff was great. This time the lobby was locked and you dealt with them through a window. The place is looking run down. The room was clean enough but the towels were a joke. Small, stained, frayed at the edges and rough. They have a breakfast room but it’s not open, not even coffee. Coffee in the room but we all know what that’s like. I was disappointed that it has gone downhill since I last stayed there. I like the location because it’s close to public transport to get you downtown.

Although we were satisfied with the location of this hotel, there left a lot to be desired. Check-in was from 4-8pm only, and most of the time the doors to the small lobby were kept locked. We didn't feel like we had access to staff to ask questions or receive support through our stay. In addition, we had to sign a form that said we would not smoke cigarettes while inside the hotel - great for us, as we don't smoke and the smell of it irritates my asthma. Imagine my surprise when we opened the door to the hallway and the place suddenly REEKED of cigarette smoke. Luckily, the room did not smell like smoke. The room itself was small, which was okay, but had a lot of furniture that needed updating. Towels were small and threadbare, and it would have been great it we had one extra blanket. I would not stay at this hotel again, but if you're looking for somewhere cheap where you can simply rest your head for the night, this will do.

This hotel is in transition and definitely not renovated (yet?). Due to the transition, you can only pay in cash onsite. The sign on the outside is the old name, adding to the confusion for our driver. The lobby is not open 24/7. The halls smell like broccoli and cigarettes. No breakfast was availabpe but we saw 2 vending machines. The carpet was terribly stained but the sheets and bathroom were clean, and we didn’t see any bugs. The rooms are expensive at $150 with taxes so we cannot recommend them unless you have a family member at the hospital nearby (Unity). Having said all this, they have free parking, decent coffee pods, microwaves, & refrigerator. Most importantly, the proximity to Unity was priceless. You can always have a mocha or latte across the street at the fancy hotel for a change of scenery.

Okay if you're on a budget, but the halway had an unpleasant odor and the ground floor was noisy. The hallways and doorways were narrow and the front entry ramp for rolling baggage was closed during non-office hours, which were also limited.

Used to love this hotel, but it's gone down hill. The lobby isn't open, and they won't let you in, which means we had to wait for an Uber outside, not only cold but didn't feel safe in Portland waiting outside at night. The original room we were given had a toilet that wouldn't flush, so they transferred us to the room across the hall. That room had a door that wouldn't close, stains on the carpet, and sticky floors. The sink leaked as well, and one of the beds was broken. We were able to get the door closed, but had to really push on it, and it took several tries to open and close each time. I decided to just deal with it as at that point I was late to the event and didn't have time to move rooms again. Floors in hallway were messy and dirty. Furniture in the rooms is scratched, scuffed, and dented. Outside is littered with cigarette butts, and guests and staff were smoking directly in front of the exits and paths, so there was not a way to avoid getting cigarette smoke blown in our face while walking in. We ordered food and since the lobby isn't open, it was left outside but despite staff being in the lobby, we were not notified of a delivery, which although not necessary, would have been nice. Lastly, the hospitality room that was supposed to have a light breakfast was just filled with old furniture and so no breakfast was available. Ice machines did not work, so no ice either. There was a refrigerator and microwave, and both were clean so that was nice.

I didn't have a lot of expectations as far as how nice the room would be, but even my most wild imagination could not have predicted just how absolutely disgusting it would be.. Just walking down the hallway, you can tell most, if not all, rooms have been actively smoked in. If you have an aversion to cigarette smoke, you would have tapped out before even getting to your room. Believe it or not, the stench of cigarette smoke was the least offensive part of the experience. Upon entry to our room, I was smacked in the face by an incredibly offensive smell - likely coming from the air conditioner - that was clearly intended to hide an even more atrocious smell. I immediately got a headache and had to attempt to stick my head out the window for fresh air - only to discover the windows only open about 5 inches. The general ambiance of the room was that of a dive hotel from the 70's where hookers brought their johns or where serial killers brought their victims. Aside from the dingy and damaged furniture, there was an obvious blood stain on the carpet, amongst several other suspicious and unidentifiable stains, varying in size and a large stain on the chair. It was so gross I refused to take my shoes off.. we ended up leaving in the middle of the night because between the stains, the smells and the overall creepy energy, we certainly weren't going to be sleeping. My advice would be to save your 70 bucks and sleep on the side of the road instead. It'll feel like an upgrade.

Bed where comfortable, but carpet was stained and dirty. Area around property alot of homeless, ice machine broken vending machines empty. I payed 80 a night but feel it was over priced, also it's sign says shilo in but it's a OYO.

Blood stains from what appeared to be bed bugs and boot prints on the sheets. Tried moving rooms, second room same issues. Was given new sheets to put on the bed and I ended up using a piece of plastic as a prophylactic.

We didn't stay here because it smelled like cigarette smoke and we saw a blood stain on the shower curtain. I talked to the manager and he said we could get a refund, but had to work through Expedia. Expedia tried countless times to contact the property but was unable to process the refund. So we are disputing the charge with our credit card company.

Towels stained, hair on linens, lights bulbs out/missing (both rooms), carpet moist in fist and second room. First room heater smelled like chemicals had been cooked in it. Staff quickly changed us to new room, very kind but not much better.

I understand that this is a downtown motel so i wasnt expecting the Ritz Carlton, but when your motel room has hotels for roaches exposed because the mini fridge was already pulled out...i turned the lights on and attempted to return the already pulled out fridge. Lets just say it was like a scene from a rave busted by the police. Roaches darting everywhere.

Our room had the filthiest carpet I've ever seen. From spilled drinks to pet stains, it was there. Furniture mismatched, scratched and gouged, looked like furniture left out in the front yard with a "FREE" sign on it. Bathroom nice remodel, but Cold water faucet handle missing. TV remotes, yes plural, ancient style that took two of them to try and figure out power and channel selection. Bed was comfy, slept on top of it though and used my own pillow due to cleanliness concern. Neighborhood very sketchy with bums dumping over trash cans to dig for treasure. Even worse, they wrap up in a blanket and sleep on the sidewalk. Several times they would be running their mouths and argue amongst themselves. We were in town for a concert and location was perfect to Moda Center. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE NEW "REM ODELED" pics online! This is NOT represented as shown. I can't believe this has the Shilo name on it, Mark Hemstreet really should pay a visit. $80 bucks for a DUMP! Never again. Danielle Nelson

It was so run down. Stains on bedding lamp,chairs hallway basucally everywhere you looked. Toilet wouldn't flush unless you pushed super hard held it down. Only good thing about it was it was walking distance to Moda but the hotel itself is absolutely Bates hotel

The hotel accomplished what we needed it for - a place to sleep. However, the lobby staff was not the most helpful. They didn't give us any information about walking our dog and expected us to know the use the unmarked side doors at all times. The room was not updated and the AC was leaking all over the floor. And the floor was carpeted.

They never came to clean my room, the TV was stuck on one channel and had no remote. They gave me a replacement remote but it was incompatible with my TV. The towels were tiny.

Our room door didn't lock and the overall state of the hotel was quite gross. Not in a way that the staff could make cleaner themselves; the hotel is very run down and needs renovations to make cleaner/safe. We were also there in what was described as a freak ice storm, but there was no salt/sand anywhere to make the parking lot or entrances safe to walk on and they were pure sheets of ice. To be honest, it made me understand why people in the US sue people/businesses so often. Would absolutely not recommend or stay again.

The tv only got one channel, remote didnt work and batteries were way corroded, staff wouldnt answer phone, laminate floor coming up creating tripping hazards, and I wouldn't sit on the couch if you paid me. Good side, it's cheap.

Very visible stains on the dirty, outdated carpet. Outlets near the sink didn't work. Only available outlets for hairdryer and accessories were behind tv. Very inconvenient. Needs a lot of updating.
Very visible stains on the dirty, outdated carpet. Outlets near the sink didn't work. Only available outlets for hairdryer and accessories were behind tv. Very inconvenient. Needs a lot of updating.

My granddaughter couldn’t sleep with some noise that was happening out in the hall or next to our room. The tub also had a couple of weird stain spots that she wouldn’t take a bath or shower.

This facility has inconvenient entrance. No amenities asside from ice. The room did have a microwave and mini fridge. The bed was spacious but delapidated. The towels provided were paper thin. My husband's towel ripped in half while he was using it.

Would not answer phone calls; would not answer door bell when we arrived late (locked office); gave lame excuses for complaints and threatened to respond by not signing us in. Also, computer was down so he had to keep our credit card over night. Ultimately he partially compensated for our inconveniences by waiving our parking fee and deposit.

There was nothing to like about the property. Everything was filthy, the staff was unhelpful, unresponsive, inexcusably rude and when we reported abhorrent conditions like a toilet that would not flush, dirty disgusting lingerie in the dresser, stains all over the carpet, banged up and scratched furniture and a fan that sounded like a 747 was landing in our bathroom, a employee brought a plunger to the door with dried toilet paper and poop all over it in a bag tied around it and reached in the door to hand it to my husband. I said “You need to fix that please.” He responded “It’s not my job.” I said “Well it’s not our job, we are on vacation and paying customers here, we are not here to repair your toilet.” He replied “I am just a house keeper, not in maintenance.” We called down to report it again and they said they did not gave anyone to fix it. My husband plunged it and got it fixed but they did not remove the dirty disgusting lingerie out of the dresser as they said they would when housekeeping came that night when we were gone and they removed the plunger and the toilet once again clogged later that night. We had to cancel our reservation for the rest of the trip and contact Shilo Inns corporate offices to get a refund for our stay and premium prices to stay somewhere else at the last minute! Trust me the outside conditions were worse than the inside, you do not want to stay there, ever!!!!!!!

I promised I am not being paid or hotel credit (god i wish, lol) to say this, but this literrally is the best hotel I have ever stayed in!!! Where do I begin, Drew, Mike, Stephen, all are rockstars in my book. The cleanliness speaks wonders and the NOISE!! Oh the noise!!! lol It was not just one night or four that were quiet, but the ENTIRE time I have been here. You could not hear anything!!Just so tranquil and peaceful and the caring staff, I will miss. I wish I could stay forever. The one thing that really gets me, but I don't say anything, is the lighting...This had such perfect warm colors and lighting to match, which has always played a major role in my anxiety. I also have extremely sensitive eyes since birth, and oh my gosh i cant say enough!! These front desk guys BUST THERE ASS to deliver good service! I cant wait to come back. I am dead serious when I say, I wish I could live here. I am in such aww over the price and the area. The price is SO affordable and the area, well I would've never expected to have this much relaxation in downtown Portland. I am a fine dining chef of 24 years, and have stayed and worked for some of the nicest hotels in the world. THIS TAKES THE CAKE!!!

Although we were satisfied with the location of this hotel, there left a lot to be desired. Check-in was from 4-8pm only, and most of the time the doors to the small lobby were kept locked. We didn't feel like we had access to staff to ask questions or receive support through our stay. In addition, we had to sign a form that said we would not smoke cigarettes while inside the hotel - great for us, as we don't smoke and the smell of it irritates my asthma. Imagine my surprise when we opened the door to the hallway and the place suddenly REEKED of cigarette smoke. Luckily, the room did not smell like smoke. The room itself was small, which was okay, but had a lot of furniture that needed updating. Towels were small and threadbare, and it would have been great it we had one extra blanket. I would not stay at this hotel again, but if you're looking for somewhere cheap where you can simply rest your head for the night, this will do.

Check-in staff super friendly and accomoddating. Hotel was nestled really close to sports arena (7 min walk) so that was great. Bed was comfy and room was quiet allowing for excellent rest. Will gladly return next time in town for a game.

Night staff was extremely curt and unprofessional. Threatened to ban me for "being rude" when he was doing all the yelling and taking personally my feedback to his demeanor. Totally inexcusable and disrespectful. He needs to be counselled if I'm ever giving that Shilo Inn another chance.

This hotel was dirty and outdated. There were people smoking crack in the parking lot and a group of homeless people across the street at the 7-11 who created a large mess with garbage and their belongings. I felt filthy the moment I got there. Close to Moda which was nice (we stayed for a concert), but that was the only good thing to say about this dump. Not suitable for children, for sure!!!! Very creepy. Won’t be returning.

This hotel is in transition and definitely not renovated (yet?). Due to the transition, you can only pay in cash onsite. The sign on the outside is the old name, adding to the confusion for our driver. The lobby is not open 24/7. The halls smell like broccoli and cigarettes. No breakfast was availabpe but we saw 2 vending machines. The carpet was terribly stained but the sheets and bathroom were clean, and we didn’t see any bugs. The rooms are expensive at $150 with taxes so we cannot recommend them unless you have a family member at the hospital nearby (Unity). Having said all this, they have free parking, decent coffee pods, microwaves, & refrigerator. Most importantly, the proximity to Unity was priceless. You can always have a mocha or latte across the street at the fancy hotel for a change of scenery.

Tough location, lots of vagrants. Parking was easy. Very run down. The carpet in our room was horribly stained. More concerning was serious mold growth on the heating/cooling device and some weird item stuck on the room sprinkler. Grossed out but slept reasonably well on a decent bed and it was thankfully quiet.

Close to Moda, but not really good food options in walking distance. The place reeked like stale cigarettes and the lobby door was locked all day. Pretty bad neighborhood. Was worried our catalytic converter was gonna get jacked.

We checked in and went to our room and left 20 minutes later. There was alot of homeless around and they didn’t seem to have an elevator so we couldn’t bring my moms oxygen up or our luggage as we can’t lift heavy items .. the smell was gross in the building and there was a broke down car outside in the parking lot mctweekin on the car tires .. so long story short I wasted money and just drive home at night.

I have stayed here before and the staff was great. This time the lobby was locked and you dealt with them through a window. The place is looking run down. The room was clean enough but the towels were a joke. Small, stained, frayed at the edges and rough. They have a breakfast room but it’s not open, not even coffee. Coffee in the room but we all know what that’s like. I was disappointed that it has gone downhill since I last stayed there. I like the location because it’s close to public transport to get you downtown.

The lobby area is just a little room with a desk. Door to the rooms is locked. Person at the front desk has to unlock it for you. Carpet in room was filthy. Mildew in grout in tub, curtain has stains, microwave didnt work, fridge wobbled, furnature had paint coming off. No ammenities, eccept a little coffee maker in the room. The only thing that was clean was the bed linen. I chec,ed tfor bed bugs and there weren\'t any. I would be afraid to see the rest of the matress, though. The entrances on either end of the building were certainly not inviting. Blue, faded metal doors with a key card reader. No windows and the molding around one door was all, torn up. On the other side of the building it was a little scarier. Less busy street with garbage area around the corner and people just hanging out in they`re cars. Small parking lot that they charge $8 to park in. Cheap compared to the others(nicer and more expensive)around there that charge $29 and up, so only good thing about this property. We were kinda desperate so we stayed after seeing all of this, but " I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY, unless even if you have lots of hand sanitizer or wipes. Even the desperate shouldn\'t be subjected to a place in this condition.

Used to love this hotel, but it's gone down hill. The lobby isn't open, and they won't let you in, which means we had to wait for an Uber outside, not only cold but didn't feel safe in Portland waiting outside at night. The original room we were given had a toilet that wouldn't flush, so they transferred us to the room across the hall. That room had a door that wouldn't close, stains on the carpet, and sticky floors. The sink leaked as well, and one of the beds was broken. We were able to get the door closed, but had to really push on it, and it took several tries to open and close each time. I decided to just deal with it as at that point I was late to the event and didn't have time to move rooms again. Floors in hallway were messy and dirty. Furniture in the rooms is scratched, scuffed, and dented. Outside is littered with cigarette butts, and guests and staff were smoking directly in front of the exits and paths, so there was not a way to avoid getting cigarette smoke blown in our face while walking in. We ordered food and since the lobby isn't open, it was left outside but despite staff being in the lobby, we were not notified of a delivery, which although not necessary, would have been nice. Lastly, the hospitality room that was supposed to have a light breakfast was just filled with old furniture and so no breakfast was available. Ice machines did not work, so no ice either. There was a refrigerator and microwave, and both were clean so that was nice.

Stayed here for a concert at the moda center. Being within walking of the moda center is the only good part. Whole hotel was dirty. Smells as soon as you walk into the lobby, room smelled, carpet stained, 1 small towel for a double room, all the furniture was scatched up, view was bad, no elevator, ice machine didnt work, no water in the vending machine. Stayed here for a concert at the moda center. Being within walking of the moda center is the only good part. Whole hotel was dirty. Smells as soon as you walk into the lobby, room smelled, carpet stained, 1 small towel for a double room, all the furniture was scatched up, view was bad, no elevator, ice machine didnt work, no water in the vending machine. Also, theres no restaurants or bars within walking distance. Would only stay here if i absolutely had no money to stay anywhere else.

I have stayed here before and the staff was great. This time the lobby was locked and you dealt with them through a window. The place is looking run down. The room was clean enough but the towels were a joke. Small, stained, frayed at the edges and rough. They have a breakfast room but it’s not open, not even coffee. Coffee in the room but we all know what that’s like. I was disappointed that it has gone downhill since I last stayed there. I like the location because it’s close to public transport to get you downtown.

The ice machine was out of order, the smell of weed in the hallways, hair dryer didn’t work walking by another person in the hallway and the stench was apparent this hotel is a refuge for the homeless
