Great views over the Thames River. Excellent fo access to Marlow Town. Large car park. Service in bar and on the lawn was terrible and room not reagy on time. We were allocated a room with twin beds even when had reserved a double.

Very welcoming. Stayed for a family wedding. Lovely room, overlooked car park. Good size balcony. Very clean. Room comfortable but too warm. Very attentive staff. Fantastic location, short walk into town. Lovely riverside location. Large car park. 3-4 minutes walk across causeway to church for the wedding. Lovely garden area with plenty of seating. Only down side was price of drinks If you want to get a taxi to windsor then advise Uber as half price compared to the one hotel booked us. Can get a train but its 2 changes so can take up to 2 hours.

Very nice accommodations overlooking the Thames River and All Saints Church. Loved the outdoor seating on the lawn. The food is excellent and the staff is genial. Definitely coming back and bringing family.

Lovely hotel on the river. Comfortable and relaxing on the lawn sofas by the river. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of do in the area short walk to town lots of pubs bars restaurants spoilt for choice and lots of lovely shops in the area. Would definitely go back and recommend this hotel nice and clean and breakfast room was lovely. Nice cozy bars and places to sit and chill

Location was good, everything else was average at best and below-par in terms of cleanliness. Hotel is tired and dated and being asked to pay extra at breakfast if you want something different like avocado, eggs benedict or even a different coffee is just strange. Drinks are very expensive as well - £16 for a glass of wine with a 12.5% service charge on top is excessive.

We were there for a wedding which was absolutely lovely but the drinks prices were extortionate and there was a charge for literally everything. It was £15 for a glass of sangria. WTH??? Shocking. The room was small for the price as well. Lovely location and they ran the event well but wow, the prices were just unreal. Never again unless we have to.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the hotel. It has a fantastic location with wonderful views but feels rundown and in need of some renovation. Before you even enter the hotel you realise things are not quite right as there's a letter missing from the sign and the associated wall is filthy. When we got to our room we found that the edges of the curtains were so frayed that bits fell off as you close them. The battery cover for the safe was missing, the cover for the temperature control for the shower was missing and the extractor fan was disgusting. The AC wasn't great, there's a continuous running noise from behind the toilet and the mattress sloped in to the centre. If you are having breakfast be aware that 50% of the hotel dishes have a £6 supplement and if you want a latte or cappuccino then that's going to be another £4 supplement. If you are going to the bar then expect to wait and don't be surprised when a medium glass of rose is more than £17. Has so much potential but need attention.

Really lovely staff. Super friendly and helpful. Lovely location in Marlow. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment for the price. Supplement for eggs Benedict. Not sure why. Baked beans were the worst I had ever tasted. Had to send breakfast back as it was cold. Also really shocked at the service charge applied to every round of drinks at the bar that we went up and ordered and took back to our table ourselves. Not sure this is justified at all. Especially when paying £13 for a Bailey's!! Really lovely hotel just a few bits that disappointed.

Lovely room though very disappointed to learn that upon booking two nights that my room was not made up adequately, waters not replaced, bathroom not cleaned and bins not emptied. To add insult to injury, my 2nd night was more expensive. Unless I get some kind of positive response, I will almost certainly go public on social media with my findings.

Terrible state of cleanliness in shared areas like restaurant. Spiders all over restaurant walls No clearing away of used plates etc for many hours Overall very run down now. Used to be a great hotel

So disappointed with standards at Compleat Angler - admittedly 20 years since having stayed but Hotel is tired, room 11 deluxe had large cobwebs above bed and in corners of room. Bathroom equally tired - bath specifically horrid with either rust or dirt showing in the grid of safety grip section, TV was ancient and channels limited We ventured into bar - but didn’t stay - dark and again tired Outside the building definitely needs painting Positively- the bedding was clean and bed comfortable - view nice over Thames to Church

Booked a night on the way home from the other end of the country to break the journey up. Hotel situated on the Thames and was very relaxing. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with river views. The only minor thing was the cleaning around the windows in the restaurant. Cobwebs and debris all over the sills. Otherwise excellent

The hotel was ideally located for a stay in Marlow and the views of the river were amazing. Our room was fabulous as we were given a suite as we were on honeymoon. It was huge with it's own balcony and fabulous views. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Dinner in the riverside restaurant was excellent again with views of the river. We would definitely use this hotel again and would recommend.

The hotel is in a great location. Definitely an upmarket feel, lovely views over the river and the bridge and church. Service was excellent by everyone we encountered. The bar and restaurant areas are really nice and comfortable, food and drink was great. Easy parking, plenty of it. We had a four poster delux room with river view. These look over the weir, which is lovely but is very loud. The rooms have very old windows that don’t shut properly. We didn’t mind the white noise so much but one to bear in mind. Air con didn’t work or wasn’t switched on. Room in general was nice but dated, needs an upgrade. Mugs we used weren’t changed for clean new ones on second day. Overall great, it some little things that could have been much better for the money, it’s a very expensive hotel

A very special hotel (location, interiors, history) - but not enough staff to match the quality of it all. Late-September falls between end of summer and before they switch the heating on - so coldish room, and aircon didn't help and couldn't be switched off, and they forget to suggest we use the heater tucked inside the wardrobe. But would absolutely visit again!

The social dining areas are lovely, but the rooms and the hallways linking the rooms need updating. I stayed in room 65 which is at the very top and very hot.

Wonderful hotel. Had a short break and the hotel was perfect. Lovely room with balcony. Beautiful setting. Staff were excellent. Went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as comfortable as it could be. Highly recommend and planning to return next year for Christmas.

Overall a lovely experience. Room beautiful with idyllic views. Loved the penhaligans toiletries. Breakfast very good. A few points to note. We waited 45 mins after arrival for a bottle of Prosecco to be brought to our room by which time we only had a short amount of time before heading to dinner. The room was hot and we couldn’t turn the radiator off or the air conditioning on. The water pump was intermittent so water pressure in shower was very very low for a couple of showers, but fine for others. Thankyou, I hope this is helpful, Sally (Room 102)

Our experience of the staff was inconsistent, check-in was fairly lack lustre and no explanation of facilities, dining options or card service was given. Couldn't find bar staff. However the concierge was really helpful. Communal rooms were lovely but the bedrooms were old and tired. ( We had to switch rooms) Even in the upgraded room the shower was broken, TV old and kept switching off, chipped paintwork and a hole in the back of the bathroom door. disappointing for a 4 star. Location is excellent, but they don't have to work on that!

Nice hotel in a lovely area and very convenient for enjoying the town of Marlow. Our stay was disappointing due to the consistently poor bar and restaurant service. It took three attempts and over half an hour to get a drink from the bar on the evening of our arrival and the breakfast service the following morning was dismal despite there being four or five waiting staff in the restaurant. No attempt was made to take our breakfast order and we had to repeatedly either try to attract the attention of a waiter or physically walk across to one to ask for coffee, toast etc. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel, legendary and unmatched for location. Rooms are well kept and clean. Reception and concierge exceptional - bar area hit or miss on service. Drinks are fine.

No duvet, they then brought us a dirty one and said no staff on so couldn’t sort a clean one until the morning Breakfast was a farce Great location - front of house were decent - told I would get a call from a manager - still waiting for one

Wonderful hotel. Had a short break and the hotel was perfect. Lovely room with balcony. Beautiful setting. Staff were excellent. Went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as comfortable as it could be. Highly recommend and planning to return next year for Christmas.

Well situated hotel on the Thames, comfortable room and freshly cooked breakfast. East walking distance to the Town which was lucky. The hotel is cashless which they advised by email. What they did not advise was to book restaurant in advance. As a hotel resident we were unable to book a table as it was fully booked, not advised when we checked in. Tis is not what we expect from a Macdonald hotel so very disappointed so be aware if booking.

Good location, 5 mins from town centre. Ample free parking. Hassle-free check in. Radiator in room not working so had to get a portable oil heater brought to us, which was done promptly. Room cleanliness fine. Lots of staff, friendly, although a bit disorganised at breakfast.

Goods - room was lovely - comfy bed, clean and tidy. Bads - food was good in parts, but quite bad in parts too (our Milanese chicken was quite tough, and our breakfast was average at best [poached egg tasted of vinegar, beans were watery etc]). We opted to eat somewhere in Marlow for the second evening. We had booked two nights in separate bookings (one on work, one leisure), but after a short time in reception, they were able to put us in the same room for both nights (we had to upgrade, but that was understandable). BUT, at around 12pm on day two, one of the staff knocked and burst into the room while my wife was sleeping, and told her off for checking out too late?! When challenged, he was quite defensive, then a little apologetic. Being honest, it seemed the hotel was struggling to hold things together. We'd wanted to visit this hotel for quite some time, but we won't be going back.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful spot but: Our group checked in separately and there was an issue with the need for an accessible room - we tried to call the hotel while out in the afternoon to resolve this before returning in the evening, the reservations inbox was full and just cut off and 2 calls to the hotel reception rang for half an hour each before we gave up. Lack of response was very poor! When we returned to the hotel the issue was resolved but due to inability to contact the hotel we were worried about this all afternoon. We paid a price to include breakfast but we’re very surprised to see on the menu that a “specialty “ coffee I.e. a cappuccino or latte would be £4 extra - not a major issue except left us feeling that every penny being squeezed out was more important than customer experience

Very nice accommodations overlooking the Thames River and All Saints Church. Loved the outdoor seating on the lawn. The food is excellent and the staff is genial. Definitely coming back and bringing family.

Lovely hotel on the river. Comfortable and relaxing on the lawn sofas by the river. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of do in the area short walk to town lots of pubs bars restaurants spoilt for choice and lots of lovely shops in the area. Would definitely go back and recommend this hotel nice and clean and breakfast room was lovely. Nice cozy bars and places to sit and chill

The hotel is well positioned to offer a short walk for meals or local shopping. It is also within walking distance to the business office where I work when traveling to this area. The scenery is breath taking and quiet. The best place in town.

Overall a lovely experience. Room beautiful with idyllic views. Loved the penhaligans toiletries. Breakfast very good. A few points to note. We waited 45 mins after arrival for a bottle of Prosecco to be brought to our room by which time we only had a short amount of time before heading to dinner. The room was hot and we couldn’t turn the radiator off or the air conditioning on. The water pump was intermittent so water pressure in shower was very very low for a couple of showers, but fine for others. Thankyou, I hope this is helpful, Sally (Room 102)

Hotel is set, beautifully, on the Thames. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The Sindhu Restaurant was amazing. Excellent food. Staff fantastic. Breakfast service was very slow both mornings. Room decor a little tired. Needs updating.

Nice location and look and feel is good. Disappointed with the food in the Riverside Restaurant and definitely not value for money. This applies to dinner and breakfast. £20 for breakfast each and then a supplement of £6 if you wanted certain things like Avocado on toast instead of a full English. The full English was only one rasher of bacon one sausage one mushroom and half a tomato. We did decline the black pudding. The breakfast had obviously been cooked much earlier and left for some time to keep warm. At dinner We paid £4 for the smallest pot of nuts as a nibble to start with. The king prawn tagliatelle only had 5 prawns and the Chicken Milannaise was just chicken in breadcrumbs on a bed of green salad leaves. We had to pay £ 6 extra for the chips to go with it. This certainly wasn’t the standard of cuisine that we were expecting and paid for.

We stayed for one night with friends. We were able to leave the car and walk into Marlow for lunch. As the weather was beautiful we spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the grass by the water watching the world go by. It was really relaxing. Dinner in the riverside restaurant was fabulous. Next time we want to try Sindhu.

I've stayed here twice now and while it's old school decor isn't really to my taste, and it could do with a refresh, it's actually a really nice hotel that is comfortable. The location is also fantastic. You're unlikely to get many better settings for either you evening drink/meal or breakfast. Breakfast is also really good for a smallish hotel.

The hotel was lovely and in a beautiful location, right on the riverbank. We ate in Sindhu, which I highly recommend. There are no USB ports in the bedrooms, which is worth knowing in advance. Breakfast was ok, but not great and certainly not the expected level for a 4 star hotel. The coffee was horrible and I would have expected better. However, overall we had a great time.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the hotel. It has a fantastic location with wonderful views but feels rundown and in need of some renovation. Before you even enter the hotel you realise things are not quite right as there's a letter missing from the sign and the associated wall is filthy. When we got to our room we found that the edges of the curtains were so frayed that bits fell off as you close them. The battery cover for the safe was missing, the cover for the temperature control for the shower was missing and the extractor fan was disgusting. The AC wasn't great, there's a continuous running noise from behind the toilet and the mattress sloped in to the centre. If you are having breakfast be aware that 50% of the hotel dishes have a £6 supplement and if you want a latte or cappuccino then that's going to be another £4 supplement. If you are going to the bar then expect to wait and don't be surprised when a medium glass of rose is more than £17. Has so much potential but need attention.

Baked beans were the worst I had ever tasted. Had to send breakfast back as it was cold. Also really shocked at the service charge applied to every round of drinks at the bar that we went up and ordered and took back to our table ourselves. Not sure this is justified at all. Especially when paying £13 for a Bailey's!! Really lovely hotel just a few bits that disappointed.

The location is stunning and staff are kind and helpful. Room was very clean. Overall though the property is very tired and for the price paid was expecting more. The room was exceptionally hot to sleep in. The Lawn Bar was gorgeous but when we came back after dinner to sit there, every single table was full of used glassware. The bar was very under stocked. Breakfast was ok but again continental selection was limited and the “award winning” hot selection was a £6 surcharge for eggs Benedict - when the price of breakfast was already £20 this felt absurd. The menu was stained. As i said you can’t fault the location and the view is stunning. If I’d paid less money would have been much happier and had lower expectations of the hotel.

Beautiful location with stunning views and it is lovely to sit in the garden by the river, but the hotel itself is shabby. We had a lukewarm welcome from reception, service was very slow - although the staff were pleasant and polite. Our room overlooked the river but was in need of refurbishment. Drinks were overly expensive - felt ripped off. Food was mainly ok - good breakfast - but I did not enjoy my tiny tasteless shepherds pie at evening meal. Probably wouldn't recommend or return to this hotel again.
Beautiful location with stunning views and it is lovely to sit in the garden by the river, but the hotel itself is shabby. We had a lukewarm welcome from reception, service was very slow - although the staff were pleasant and polite. Our room overlooked the river but was in need of refurbishment. We were notified that the suite was unavailable due to a maintenance issue. We were downgraded but there was no offer of a refund of the price difference let alone any compensation for spoiling our anniversary. I had been in touch with the hotel to request a particular room with a view of the church across the Thames. I was assured that the suite I had booked had this view but it transpired it actually looked onto a courtyard. It took 3 emails to get an answer that was wrong. We were given a piece of cake for our anniversary instead of the individual shortbread biscuits we got the second night. I have never seen such small bottles of shampoo etc. On the first morning there was no hot water as the boiler had broken. There is obviously a problem with maintenance here. The shabby room looks grubby and desperately needs a lick of paint - more carefully applied than last time. The plus points - the view (although we didn't get the church); the staff at breakfast; and Sindhu, Atul Kochar's wonderful Indian restaurant
