Ruthin Castle Hotel and Spa

Fantasisk sted , meget personale i spisesituationer ,men du skal ikke tænde for meget lys , for så ser du edderkoppespin og støv. Elsker det dyreliv der var, vi så hare, egern og påfugle.

Nice room, good tub, welcome gift. Bed not the newest or very supportive and while the castle is aesthetically impressive, it’s a little dated and cold in places.

Staff and the quality of the food were the only positives. General maintenance and cleanliness were extremely low with our room having a broken window hinge, the bin lid broken off, spit covering the bedroom mirror, the bath taps being brown around the outside, the toilet seat being the incorrect size for the toilet and the bath clearly had had a water leak that had damaged the side and not been replaced/covered. The spa was equally as bad with scum marks around the hot tubs and general lack of repair and maintenance in all areas... A toilet door lock came completely off in my hand!

We had a lovely welcome at reception, and we had booked a Spa afternoon before our check in . The welcome was not as forthcoming at the Spa , and it seemed a little disorganised. Be aware that if the hot tub is cancelled due to the weather , you will not get a refund, apparently it’s in the T’s & C’s . The room was lovely if a little tired as some other areas were as well , granted it’s an old building , but the maintenance was a little lacking . The service and welcome at the restaurant was very good for evening meals and breakfasts . A couple of criticisms , the wine glasses could nicer , not ordinary glasses , especially as your spending £60 on a bottle of wine . The other was at breakfast, the plates were in a cabinet , which initially I thought was for heating the plates . This wasn’t the case , the plates were freezing and your breakfast was soon cold .
