This exclusive hotel offers scenic mountain views and cosy rooms in an annex of the historic Leopoldskron Palace, just 2 km from Salzburg’s historic centre. Scenes from The Sound of Music were filmed on site, and the Salzburg Festival was founded there.Leopoldskron Palace is privately owned and not generally accessible to the public. Guests enjoy free access to the palace, the Max Reinhardt Library, and the chapel.The rooms in the Meierhof Annex and the suites, which are all situated at the palace, feature satellite TV, a minibar, and a bathroom. A fitness centre and bikes are at guests' disposal and free WiFi is provided in all areas.The daily breakfast buffet is served in the majestic breakfast room in the palace. In good weather conditions, guest can also have their breakfast on the panorama balcony.Drinks and cakes are offered at the Meierhof Café which also features a terrace with views to the garden and to the Leopoldskroner Weiher Lake. If you are a "Sound of Music" fan, then staying here should probably be on your bucket list. The hotel, the grounds, and the views across the lake are beautiful. They had a wonderful breakfast at the palace every morning and also have bikes to borrow. Not walkable to old town Salzburg, but there are options for bus or car to do that. Still fairly close, so it only took a few minutes to old town and parking garage. The room was beautiful, spacious, and updated. No air conditioning, but we didn't really need it as the windows provided cooling in the evening.

This location was wonderful close to downtown Salzburg. We rode the self locking bikes provided free at the hotel. Breakfast was included and one of the best we had. Bonus was that Sound of Music was filmed partially at Schloss Leopold. Your staying at hotel with castle next door. Breakfast is at the castle.

Stayed in the Meierhof building with my husband and two kids. Beautiful property and grounds, short drive into downtown Salzburg. Breakfast in the main palace was absolutely spectacular, but the hotel bar was very limited. Was hoping to take advantage of the bicycles on-site and ride around the lake, but the weather was not good. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful building in picturesque setting with lots of history. Spotlessly clean. We stayed in a Palace suite which was fantastic, the free mini bar was a nice addition. Unfortunately our room didn’t have a bath which at 400€ plus was abit of a surprise. Reception staff friendly and we’re happy to deliver a takeaway order to our room (no evening dining options at the hotel which is a shame and frankly a missed opportunity in our opinion) Breakfast was lovely and in the beautiful marble hall which was a real treat. There’s very few services at hotel, we had to drag our bags down a gravel drive which wasn’t ideal.

Staff are really welcoming and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable Lovely main house which you’re free to visit at your leisure. Great breakfast & grounds are breathtaking! Free bikes worth using to visit lake & surrounding area. Hotel also gives vouchers for use in next door swimming pools & other facilities ( these close in Sept) which is an idyllic area fabulous for families

The location is amazing. We stayed here / years ago. The staffs were very friendly. The receptionist, Julie, greeted us with big smile😊. The breakfast is one of the best among other hotels. Especially having breakfast in thd historic room was exceptional. Rooms were clean, quiet and well maintained. Parking is on the site and free. We hope to stay again.

Everything about this property is beautiful and well preserved, yet comfortable. Parking is plentiful, our room was a nice size for 2 adults and 2 children, and breakfast was delicious. We walked into town to enjoy the Winter Market, and stayed an extra day because Salzburg is charming. We loved our stay!

This is the second time I’ve stayed at this hotel, and we love the peaceful location by the water and it being the “back of the house” in Sound a Music. It now has a bar in it too! It’s 1-2 miles to old town, but we didn’t mind a walk or uber. Would definitely stay again!

How come this hotel doesn't have air conditioning! 90 degrees hot and no AC...on top of that the rooms are not insulated...horrible! The hallways need painting,Also they don't have a restaurant therefore if you don't eat downtown, you are screwed. A tip: if you want to visit, get there by car, enter the hotel ( you don't need anything to get in) park your car, walk up to the gardens, take pics, go back to your car and out And DON’T PAY 250 euros for a " sauna"

I’ve stayed here three times prior to this year’s visit. I’ve never been so disappointed - so much so, I wouldn’t stay here again. Construction right outside our guest rooms which was loud and some made taxis unavailable to pick us up at the reception, the secret library staircase closed without any advance notice, hairs all over our bed, no body wash for two nights - just an empty bottle that housekeeping never bothered to fill without us pestering them, we called to the front reception from our room and they said they were too “busy” to send anything up so when we walked down to it there was nobody in the lobby. Awful service from housekeeping and for the insane prices we paid. When I told management at checkout, they offered a “sorry.” We stayed at the Radisson Blu two nights after here and the different in the staff care and housekeeping was incredible. We felt very welcomed there, where we felt like an inconvenience at the Schloss Leopoldskron.

Beautiful hotel. Stunning historical palace for breakfast. A wander round the other rooms not to be missed. The library is stunning. Grounds are lovely. Only complaint was the bedside shelf was dirty with a half eaten apple and cosmetic from previous occupants in the room!

The grounds the hotel is set on are beatiful and the palace is, too obviously. The same can’t be said about the rooms in the Meierhof block. The room I was given had the filthiest floors I had ever seen in a hotel room in my entire life as a traveller. I reported this to reception and the issue was half heartedly dealt with by mopping the worst affected area quickly. I left the room and then came back at night to see that the bathroom floor was absolutely disgusting, too. Spoke to a different receptionist who was very apologetic but the manager would not show their face. Very disappointing. I was offered a small refund which I accepted as I am not out for freebies but this issue should and could have been handled differently by giving me a different room and not let me be confronted with a housekeeper and maintenance person only to find more problems later. Breakfast in the palace was great. The staff were wonderful, attentive and polite. Breakfast selection was great.

We stayed one night in the palace while our sons stayed in the annex building. If you can afford it, stay in the palace. Our sons' room was fine and clean, but more like a college dorm room while the palace room was very charming with large windows, high ceilings, and cozy furnishings. The breakfast was amazing and the views over the lake were incredible! We wished we would have booked two nights here during our stay in Austria.

Enjoyed my stay grounds are beautiful. I didn’t stay in the palace but in the building next store. My room was a basic single room. It was comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay again. The area and palace is beautiful and the breakfast in the palace was the best I have had at a hotel. Staff was nice and professional. The young lady who checked me out was especially helpful and nice.

Unforgettable hotel! From the moment you get to the gate it feels like a fairy tail with so much character, arts, history- just such a unique experience. Great service, good breakfast, spacious rooms. Although not in the center of historical Salzburg, so car is needed. Getting around on foot with 2 kids was challenging... Big room, good enough for family of 4. Take at least half of day to enjoy the walks around the buildings, near the lake and in the palace - it makes all the difference.The views at the frozen lake, and everything covered in snow is just breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay, it was the highlight of the vacation.

The hotel rooms were not located in the building that was advertised on the listing. We were expecting to stay in the main villa where the Sound of Music was filmed, not in some building built right next to it. Additionally, the hotel lacked air conditioning, and Salzburg is extremely humid, so we were never able to cool off. I would recommend skipping staying at the hotel and instead visiting the property if you are a Sound of Music fan. However, I must say that the breakfast in the main villa was incredible, and the staff was extremely friendly.

The hotel needs complete renewal. No air condition makes sleep difficult. There was a fountain in the garden which made a lot of noise during the night when trying to sleep with open windows. Wifi was very weak at second floor. But the breakfast with magnificient view was unforgetable. The food was delicious.

Very noisy at night due to wedding (until 4am), and no A/C. Hotel is poor value for money and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was good.
Very noisy at night due to wedding (until 4am), and no A/C. Hotel is poor value for money and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was good.

The property and views were exquisite! Our room was very tiny and very, very hot despite having fans (no air conditioning). The breakfast in the palace was amazing. The property is far from old town so we had to Uber each time to go anywhere. You can also use bikes at no extra cost.

Personal sehr freundlich, Frühstück ausgezeichnet, Ambiente mit Park und See sehr schön. Zimmer sehr klein, stickig und heiss wegen fehlender Klimaanlage und lediglich Ventilatoren, Matratzen durchgelegen, Pölster winzig.

As a lifelong fan of the sound of music, to stay in such a historic location with all of the beauty of the grounds and palace was a dream come true. We had 2 rooms - 1 in the palace and 1 in the other building and there was a world of difference between the accommodations. I strongly recommend the splurge and paying the extra money to stay in the castle if you’re coming all this way. It’s very impressive and beautiful,

We stayed one night in the palace while our sons stayed in the annex building. If you can afford it, stay in the palace. Our sons' room was fine and clean, but more like a college dorm room while the palace room was very charming with large windows, high ceilings, and cozy furnishings. The breakfast was amazing and the views over the lake were incredible! We wished we would have booked two nights here during our stay in Austria.

Beautiful property with wonderful staff! The grounds are also absolutely stunning. We stayed in the palace which was so beautiful. Also breakfast was unparalleled! Our room was lovely and we had fruits, chocolates, and sparkling wine waiting for us. Marius at the front desk was wonderful!! We can’t say enough about him—he was so helpful and kind. It’s not far from old town either! We actually walked there one day which was definitely doable and took around 20 min (granted with a bit of a climb up an inclined path towards the end) Our one comment is one of the two nights we stayed there was an event at the palace that went on until about midnight, which is no problem. However, we were surprised because we could hear the bass from the music in our room. The first night we stayed was perfectly fine and quiet! All said, we would highly recommend this property and would certainly stay here again!

Favourite part of my whole trip to Austria. Staff are friendly and helpful, the building itself is beautiful, there are 2 fantastic restaurants within walking distance, and plenty of walking/bike paths to explore. Short uber ride into the city/to the train station. Around 15€. Looking forward to my next stay!

I’ve stayed here three times prior to this year’s visit. I’ve never been so disappointed - so much so, I wouldn’t stay here again. Construction right outside our guest rooms which was loud and some made taxis unavailable to pick us up at the reception, the secret library staircase closed without any advance notice, hairs all over our bed, no body wash for two nights - just an empty bottle that housekeeping never bothered to fill without us pestering them, we called to the front reception from our room and they said they were too “busy” to send anything up so when we walked down to it there was nobody in the lobby. Awful service from housekeeping and for the insane prices we paid. When I told management at checkout, they offered a “sorry.” We stayed at the Radisson Blu two nights after here and the different in the staff care and housekeeping was incredible. We felt very welcomed there, where we felt like an inconvenience at the Schloss Leopoldskron.

Karena and the young girl ( who only started a few months ago) were helpful. Karena actually found us on the property soon after arrival with nothing to do and told us about the taxi service and trip to the city. We would have otherwise been bored while waiting for our rooms. On the other hand, other staff weren’t as helpful or accommodating. For ex- we were not told by the maintenance man or accounting lady that the elevators weren’t working until 10 mins after they saw us pressing buttons. They both walked away after we tried to grab their attention. I also noticed that other staff in the dining room were t warm/friendly. We also could’ve received more helpful information upon arrival about lack of restaurant availability/ amenities and offerings. Be reminded - although a beautiful hotel - it is away from everything. We spent about 60 euros for taxis within our 3 day stay. I really loved our suite and the connection to the SOM. I SPENT a lot on this hotel but was glad to leave after day 3! Don’t think I’ll return.

What an amazing place! We stayed for three nights while travelling thru Europe on our honeymoon. The service was excellent, the breakfast was delicious, and the property is full of history in every corner. It’s a little ways from the town centre so just make sure you take the 20-25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride into account when planning. There is a bus stop right outside the main entrance. Would absolutely stay here again!

From start to finish my family had a wonderful experience at Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron. From the moment the gates open you can see the care for the grounds and the effort that is shown to make everyone feel welcome. Staff was exceptional. In particular, Veronica made our trip extra special. She was engaging, warm, kind , and professional…. She was “simply” amazing. I would come back in a heartbeat.

If you are a "Sound of Music" fan, then staying here should probably be on your bucket list. The hotel, the grounds, and the views across the lake are beautiful. They had a wonderful breakfast at the palace every morning and also have bikes to borrow. Not walkable to old town Salzburg, but there are options for bus or car to do that. Still fairly close, so it only took a few minutes to old town and parking garage. The room was beautiful, spacious, and updated. No air conditioning, but we didn't really need it as the windows provided cooling in the evening.

Etwa außerhalb der Altstadt, aber dafür wunderschön an einem Weiher mit Bergkulisse gelegen. In die Altstadt sind es 25 Minuten zu Fuß, mit dem Auto nur ein paar Minuten. Das Zimmer war gemütlich eingerichtet. Persönlich hätte ich mir einen Wasseekocher zum Zubereiten von Tee und Kaffee gewünscht. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen. Fazit: gutes Hotel in sehr schöner Lage!

Unforgettable hotel! From the moment you get to the gate it feels like a fairy tail with so much character, arts, history- just such a unique experience. Great service, good breakfast, spacious rooms. Although not in the center of historical Salzburg, so car is needed. Getting around on foot with 2 kids was challenging... Big room, good enough for family of 4. Take at least half of day to enjoy the walks around the buildings, near the lake and in the palace - it makes all the difference.The views at the frozen lake, and everything covered in snow is just breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay, it was the highlight of the vacation.

夢のような滞在でした。憧れのサウンド・オブ・ミュージックのロケ地に泊まることができて、一生の思い出になりました。またぜひ泊まりにいきたいです。 音楽祭期間中でしたが、静かに過ごせて快適でした。 城内部の保存状態も素晴らしく、見て楽しめました。庭の景観も大変素晴らしい。音楽祭創設者が所有してたこともあるそうで、そのちょっとした展示が興味深かった。 朝は、テラス席から素晴らしい景色を眺めながら優雅に朝食ブッフェを食べ、もっとのんびり、ゆっくりこの優雅な空気を味わいたいと思いました。 街や駅からのアクセスはまぁまぁ。時間が合えば、バスでのアクセスが楽。街からは少し離れてますが、散歩がてら歩くといいです。

This is the second time I’ve stayed at this hotel, and we love the peaceful location by the water and it being the “back of the house” in Sound a Music. It now has a bar in it too! It’s 1-2 miles to old town, but we didn’t mind a walk or uber. Would definitely stay again!

Good short stay 2 nights.. accomodation and position of the hotel great .. on Salzburg card.. bus 11 drops /picks up right outside..and easy then to get to Untersberg ..zoo ..old town etc.

Enjoyed my stay grounds are beautiful. I didn’t stay in the palace but in the building next store. My room was a basic single room. It was comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay again. The area and palace is beautiful and the breakfast in the palace was the best I have had at a hotel. Staff was nice and professional. The young lady who checked me out was especially helpful and nice.

Beautiful building in picturesque setting with lots of history. Spotlessly clean. We stayed in a Palace suite which was fantastic, the free mini bar was a nice addition. Unfortunately our room didn’t have a bath which at 400€ plus was abit of a surprise. Reception staff friendly and we’re happy to deliver a takeaway order to our room (no evening dining options at the hotel which is a shame and frankly a missed opportunity in our opinion) Breakfast was lovely and in the beautiful marble hall which was a real treat. There’s very few services at hotel, we had to drag our bags down a gravel drive which wasn’t ideal.

Jättevackert och fridfullt hotell att bo på. Magisk utsikt ifrån balkongen där man kan äta frukost. Det enda negativa var att man fick beställa in kaffe , juice , te och det tog för lång tid.

Highly rated place as the Palace is certainly very interesting and full of history. Many spots to hang around and beautiful area. However for the price there is a lot missing. 850 Cad per night for “premium ” room for 4 CAD in the Meierhof building where most people stay. This area is quite old and reminds me of a motel 6. Note it can be quite warm at night in August as there is no air conditioning here. They provide a fan. The breakfast is also a dud. It is highly rated by many people but seriously it’s nothing special. I have been to many less expensive and lesser hotel that provided a much better breakfast. It is served in a beautiful palace room but otherwise the food is pretty bad. The smoked salmon has a funny taste on both mornings and does not smell or taste like smoked salmon. The bacon is of poor quality cut and reminds me of typical fare served at Holiday Inn express. Their croissant is of poor quality. So yes the food is not representative of a high end place. The staff otherwise are very nice. Overall, not worth the price.

It is served in a beautiful palace room but otherwise the food is pretty bad. The smoked salmon has a funny taste on both mornings and does not smell or taste like smoked salmon. The bacon is of poor quality cut and reminds me of typical fare served at Holiday Inn express. Their croissant is of poor quality. So yes the food is not representative of a high end place. The staff otherwise are very nice. Overall, not worth the price.

How come this hotel doesn't have air conditioning! 90 degrees hot and no AC...on top of that the rooms are not insulated...horrible! The hallways need painting,Also they don't have a restaurant therefore if you don't eat downtown, you are screwed. A tip: if you want to visit, get there by car, enter the hotel ( you don't need anything to get in) park your car, walk up to the gardens, take pics, go back to your car and out And DON’T PAY 250 euros for a " sauna"

Unforgettable hotel! From the moment you get to the gate it feels like a fairy tail with so much character, arts, history- just such a unique experience. Great service, good breakfast, spacious rooms. Although not in the center of historical Salzburg, so car is needed. Getting around on foot with 2 kids was challenging... Big room, good enough for family of 4. Take at least half of day to enjoy the walks around the buildings, near the lake and in the palace - it makes all the difference.The views at the frozen lake, and everything covered in snow is just breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay, it was the highlight of the vacation.
