We loved the short walk into the village and appreciated small touches like the food hamper and heated floors. However, the mattress and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable and we would have appreciated some areas to hang clothes and other items.

The Lodge (Cupwith) had everything I needed and was very cosy. The deck area was a great bonus. It was easy to walk into Marsden or either way along the canal. For food I highly recommend The Olive Branch - just a 25 minute walk.

What I didn't like - the floor was gritty it hadn't been cleaned. It smelt 'doggy'. There were no coat hooks to hang coats. Could have done with a shelf in the bathroom to put toileteries. I never saw the host or warden. I arrived at 11.00am hoping to park the car outside the cabin and then go for a walk but the previous tenant was still there and was still parked at the cabin even though it was 10.00am to vacate.

Great location and nicely presented lodge within walking distance to Marsden and Slaithwaite. Unfortunately, the mattress was unsupportive and collapsed when getting on it, making sleep uncomfortable. Pillows were extremely thin; even 2 of them were no thicker than a folded towel. There were no toiletries provided beyond liquid hand soap. These issues made it hard to get a good night’s rest and spoiled the overall experience for such a nice place.

The location, seeing and hearing the birds, coffee pods and milk provided, convenient for the town. It would be good to have a mirror for short people and also a second wine glass needed :)
