This is a hotel with many contradictions. In some ways it's 4* but in others, it certainly isn't. I booked it as I wanted a hotel close enough to walk easily to the old town, which had a swimming pool and which was a reasonable price for central Nicosia. Cleopatra ticked all the boxes, but I wasn't aware of some aspects of the hotel. My room 317 was very quiet which I appreciated. The bathroom appeared to have been refurbished with a large walk in rain shower with hand shower attached, plentiful hot water and all the usual toiletries supplied. However, the room itself is dated ( think 1970s) and some of the furniture looks shabby. The bed is firm and the linen smooth and comfortable. The pillow suited me as it was soft and not to high, but I noticed thicker pillows in the wardrobe. There's a safe, fridge and hairdryer, but no iron in the room. Wifi is good I think it was an unfortunate choice of carpet for the corridors as it looked filthy with multiple stains although I'm sure wasnt, it was just the pattern. The restaurant looked modern and the breakfast had all the usual foods to be found in a 4* hotel- cereals, cold cuts, fresh and tinned fruit, yogurt, salad, full "English" breakfast and omelette station plus breads and pastries. Absolutely no complaints there. It's not at all disabled friendly as there isn't a ramp to the main entrance, only 7 steps. There are 2 lifts, but stairs lead to different levels of the hotel including the breakfast room/ restaurant. My big

Flooring lifting in the bedroom, air-conditioning not cool enough did not go below 26 degrees. Gym didn't open until 12.30 which is a stupid time. Should be open early in the morning, not middle of the day. Hotel needs a lot of attention, I would not stay there again @

The hotel is in a great location. The gym is rarely open. Evenings and Saturday only, closed all day on Sunday. So one of the extras you look for and pay for in a hotel is basically a waste of space! The pool in the Summer is packed, mainly children and families. It is also opened to the public for a fee from 10.0 am and on the days we stayed there was a queue every morning. So, paying hotel guests who do not get to the pool early enough struggle to get a sunbed. On the Saturday we used it, if we had been 15 minutes later, we would not have got a sunbed! It need more supervision to ensure hotel guests have priority and if adults are trying to swim, ask the children and families to leave a meter or so by the edge. I was NOT impressed. The pillows in the rooms are very low quality, small and lumpy. We asked for better pillows and was told, there are spares in the wardrobe! Yes, we had already found them and they were just as bad if not worse. It is NOT a cheap hotel and simple things like pillows are not even given a consideration for guests to get a good nights sleep. My partner and I used to stay at this hotel but stopped because it was very dilapidated and in need of upgrading. That work has been done, so we returned. The one good thing about the hotel previously was the breakfast. It was very good quality. Now, it's mediocre. Cheap sausages, not cooked. Never any fresh fried eggs, the bread was hard, no pastries. Even the teabags are very low quality now.
