Family-owned business with exceptional customer service. Warm greeting, nice extras (filtered water/ice machine in office, as well as bottled water and complimentary soda, whole fruit, and awesome morning pastries, individually wrapped.) Quiet, very clean and well-appointed large room. Microwave, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker with supplies in room. Towels are extra plush and the beds are very comfortable. Large screen SmarTV. Free parking. This is a small property - probably < 20 rooms, so book well in advance. We liked it so much, we decided to stay another night instead of staying in the city and we’re lucky they had a vacancy and even moved things around so we could stay in our same room. (We saved $150 doing this allowing us to use that money for a fancy dinner!)

One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed it at any price. By far the best room I’ve ever found, when price considered. This is a $200+ room for half that price. Just an absolute gem of a spot. Hidden from the road. Updated rooms with quality everything. Super comfortable bed and pillows. Comfortable sitting chair with foot stool. Granite counter and work desk. Tiled, modern and stylish bathroom. Even the front door is luxury all wood. Touch lamps. Smart TV. Honestly can’t be over stated how great this place is. Free filtered water dispenser in lobby. Really good complimentary coffee in room and lobby. Warm friendly owner. 10/10, 5 stars, supreme value and comfort.

The Lodge is an excellent value. We needed a place to stay about an hour north of San Francisco on our roadtrip and the Marin Lodge totally delivered. The staff are amazing - so friendly and kind. Plenty of free parking. Spacious, clean rooms with comfy beds. A fridge with complimentary bottled water and sodas in the reception area, along with complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning. There is some road noise in the early mornings but the heat/AC covers it. We both slept very soundly. Plus, a terrific rate. I would definitely stay here again.

We used to call these motels. Regardless, it’s a very comfortable place to spend a few nights in San Rafael. Nothing fancy but ownership really cares about their customers. Parking (free) just outside your room.

Marin Lodge is a small, clean, very quiet hotel located 3 minutes away by car from downtown San Rafael. I especially liked the in-room microwave and mini-fridge. It is definitely not fancy, but overall a great boutique alternative to the larger brands that offer rooms at around the same price.

BED BUGS. We had a Sunday wedding that I was a bridesmaid in and didn’t want to drive all the way home through the city late at night, so we booked a room. I chose this place because it had very good cleanliness ratings. I walked into the room and went the pull down the sheet and there was a BED BUG crawling on the top sheet. I let front desk know and she was extremely rude and pushy. There was no apology, no remorse for our ruined night. We had to put all of our things in garbage bags and take them to the laundry mat the next day to dry on high heat because I didn’t want to chance bringing them into my home. I have never been so disgusted. She refused to give us trash bags at first and only would after we asked multiple times. While we were bagging our things up she stayed in the room watching us. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The poor customer service made the whole situation worse. I had to demand a refund for a room we couldn’t even stay in.

The location was quiet and the trees blocking the view of the nearby street were both beautiful and effective. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was removed from shopping/sights and so not walkable, but otherwise a wonderful place to stay.

The property is old but very well cared for and spotlessly clean. The manager was friendly and helpful As a single older woman I felt very safe staying there. The only “down side” was the extremely low water pressure. I stayed in an end unit so it may be better closer to the office. I had better luck in the morning but ended up taking a cold/ to lukewarm shower because I didn’t want to run the water too long. Other than that, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

This small lodge checked all of the boxes for me. The room was spacious and comfortable, had all of the appliances that I like to use. It was clean and updated. The staff was very friendly and helpful and easy to reach. It's a great location, quiet and safe. The free snacks and beverages felt like a sweet bonus.

Booked this motel the last minute based on reviews. Driving thru the area and needed a one night stay. Could not have been better!!! The young man checking us in was very helpful with restaurants and local information. 100% recommend and I have stayed in less than 1 star and 5 star plus hotels LOL

Delightful small compound. Front desk gracious. Room was clean, obviously well kept. Great spot convenient to downtown San Rafael and easy access 101.

Delightful small compound. Front desk gracious. Room was clean, obviously well kept. Great spot convenient to downtown San Rafael and easy access 101.

A very cute little motel, just off the highway in San Rafael. In a mixed/residential neighborhood, but very private because of all the trees and landscaping. A little noise from Lincoln Ave, but closing the windows blocks the noise and it's quieter at night. Convenient to restaurants downtown.

Property was easy to find, parking was awesome close to our room. Beds and pillows were the best. And the complimentary drinks, fruit and pastries were a definite bonus. We loved our short stay😃❤️

Compact, but had everything we needed. Great pastries for breakfast with water and pop available. No diet pop for diabetics. Great surroundings and friendly staff!

This was a great spot for our family of four for the last two nights of our time in the Bay Area. It was excellent for the price. The location is very convenient for exploring Marin County and was only 30 min to the Oakland airport. It is in town, but the trees on the property make it feel somewhat secluded- in a good way. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast wasn't advertised, but the coffee, pastries, and fruit that they had out in the morning was very much appreciated.

The managers were terrific. I love the details in the room like the linens, the pillows, the mattress and the coved ceiling. My favorite homey touch was the metal signs on the doors. Breakfast in the lobby was much appreciated.

Friendly and welcoming. It was a great place to stay for a work trip in San Rafael. Walking distance to many food options. I appreciated the access to coffee, fruit and water.

The Lodge is an excellent value. We needed a place to stay about an hour north of San Francisco on our roadtrip and the Marin Lodge totally delivered. The staff are amazing - so friendly and kind. Plenty of free parking. Spacious, clean rooms with comfy beds. A fridge with complimentary bottled water and sodas in the reception area, along with complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning. There is some road noise in the early mornings but the heat/AC covers it. We both slept very soundly. Plus, a terrific rate. I would definitely stay here again.

Marin Lodge is a well-furnished and well maintained little motel. It has some nice touches in the decor & furniture, and a secluded feeling because of the landscaping. Although there’s no breakfast, they have a small takeout selection with good muffins and fruit to get you going. It appears to be family-run and they’re nice people. And the price is always reasonable.

Lodge was just what we needed plus more! Super clean, beds extremely comfortable and loved the breakfast muffins and coffee every morning!!! Would definitely stay again! Thank you!!

I have stayed before and came back to an even better stay. This owner/operator is absolutely top notch and goes well out of their way to treat returning customers extremely well. I am now a devoted, loyal customer and wont bother looking elsewhere when I'm in town.

This hotel is small, it te rooms are quite nice, clean, with ceiling fans and AC. ‘Breakfast’ is pretty minimal, mostly with packaged pastries. They only serve regular coffee, no decaf coffee. It’s enough to get you on the road until you get some breakfast.

This is a well maintained , refreshed quiet spot for a very comfortable rest. Good mattress, windows that open or AC if you want it. Nice size rooms for all your stuff, good lighting and plugs if you need to work. Nice bits and pieces of thoughtful extras that other big chain hotels are no longer doing. Clearly a small property that is doing well from the hard work being put into it by the family that runs it. I will be staying again!

The room was very clean including the microwave and frig, the bed was comfortable and the linens were good. Plenty of parking, quiet, secluded. Not a neighborhood for walking. Close to restaurants 6-minute drive. The owners live on the premises and take great of the quests. I travelled alone and felt safe.
