All fine for my one night stay. Single room had a nice spacious bathroom and shower, bed could have been a tad more comfy but that's a minor thing, breakfast was really good, didn't have evening meal but menu looked really 'homely' food and well priced. Car parking right outside so great stay!

One night stay on business passing through, staff and food was excellent and room large and clean, have to say really enjoyed the atmosphere. Free parking in Moffat Centre is a nice surprise these days.

Stopped for 1 night at the Balmoral, while touring on my motorbike. Lovely single room. Excellent bar meal. Fantastic breakfast. Parked my motorcycle safety in the courtyard too ! Excellent value for money & will stop again.

Returning from a trip further north I wanted somewhere to break my journey for just one night. The Balmoral met the bill well. Parking in the square in front of the hotel; a cheerful bar full of locals; good pub grub and a comfortable bed for the night. Thankfully no thick duvets (far too hot in August!) so got a good night’s sleep. No frills but met the bill for my requirements.

This was a halfway stop for us on the way to Aberdeen. We were going to use a motorway motel but its always better to put money into a local community. The Balmoral was a friendly place with good food and wine. The decor is a bit outdated but that doesn't matter as the place is spotlessly clean. Moffat is a charming place. A hidden gem a couple of minutes off the motorway. Would definitely stay again.

Last min booking. Super friendly welcome, bar staff and locals. We chose the cottage as wanted no noise from other guests. Large space. Basic but adequate furniture. Nice touches with the biscuits and chocolates. The double bed is a double, but having a timber head/foot board its just not big enough for anyone over 6ft tall. The mattress is also a basic spring one that "twangs" when you roll over. The shower pressure was also very poor. This is a shame as everything else was acceptable. Great breakfast provided and really friendly lady serving. Would definitely stay again, but only if the bed frame/mattress was changed.

We booked a cottage on the property, it was like a small house. For the price i thought we had been given the wrong place. It was super clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was one of the best i have ever had. The hotel is situated in the centre of the village with gift shops resturants within feet of the hotel. I would highly recommend this place.

Stayed in the cottage, some very nice touches in arrival, food was very good and breakfast had plenty of choice, if you are looking for a hotel in Moffat I would recommend you give this a try.

We only stopped here for one night but we were really impressed with staff and food. Decor a bit dated but bed comfortable. Definitely think about eating here as the food was really good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Our room was big and very comfortable and the mini fridge with water and fresh milk was a nice touch. The shower door was a bit dodgy and needs looking at. Breakfast choice and quality was excellent and all cooked to order. Service was pleasant and efficient. We found a free parking space directly opposite the hotel and, even though it is on the main road through Moffat, we didn't find it noisy or too busy to cross the road. If you were there for long enough, it's worth noting that the Edinburgh bus leaves from outside the hotel making a day trip to the capital possible without using the car. We would use this hotel again if in the area.

The hotel or pub with rooms as it really is was okay but absolutely NOT worth £70 for a single room. Very basic and very dated.
