This was a wonderful place to enjoy the fall leaves and the local hospitality. Breakfast was great and there were snacks and drinks for the evening. The host did a wonderful job. We highly recommend it.

Beautiful house with amazing history! We sat on the peaceful front porch for hours. Breakfast was delicious, beds were comfortable, and the hosts were excellent. Very cool experience!

Nice and quiet stay. Good parking area. Breakfast is prix fixe and I would love to have had an option for a biscuit or toasted bread. Breakfast was delicious and of gourmet quality. I noticed that there were no tea bags available on the beverage table, but there was a Keurig with a tea selection.

Breakfast on Saturday was not hot. Need a sidewalk or stepping stones from parking area to front door to avoid walking in grass and mud. Expected daily house keeping with fresh towels. Need more hooks in bathroom for hanging towels if not enough will be provided for the entire stay. Towels were rough, not plush & soft. Also, more hooks in the room to hang clothing Vs the 4 in our room. Owners were kind & pleasant and obviously want guests to feel welcome.

The history of the property and the book detailing where I learned about it. The owners, Paps and Susan are very friendly. The homemade breakfast was treat. Only thing I'd suggest is a motion sensitive walkway to the front door, I fumbled in the dark (gets dark early in November) on the tree roots and other things. Not enough to discourage me from recommending the Buffalo Tavern to other family and friends.

Lovely location! A bit out of town, but easy access and lots of dining options in town, and they served a great breakfast! Magnificent front porch and lawn! Would gladly stay there again!

Absolutely amazing!! Will be going back and staying again. There’s not one bad or negative thing I can say. First we were greeted with by our two amazing inn keepers. The inn was absolutely decorated perfect such details & so inviting plus cozy. Hot cocoa bar was the best ever. Secret recipe yummy. Our room was was so beautiful, comfortable and perfect. No detail left undone. Breakfast was amazing and my hats off to the chef as his skills melted on our mouths. I would rate our stay 10 out of 5…if you get a chance do not pass up staying & I promise you won’t regret it.

If you don't mind enforced breakfast with the other guests at 8:30, then this place was great. No coffee available until 8:30, and only once one sat down for breakfast at the table for eight. They said the Keurig was for all to use anytime, but they provided no mugs. So maybe bring your own mug? Also there was no choice for breakfast so as a vegetarian, it was a bit tough.

I don’t know there’s just something about this stay that really made me uncomfortable. The AC in the room is very loud, the bed super uncomfortable, the blinds do not block out the light the TV was small like maybe 12“ x 16“ small, the decor doesn’t make sense, there’s no desk in the room, no dressers and no closets and the Wi-Fi dropped out, I really wanted to make it work, but after two days, I asked to leave and was told that I would only get a partial refund. The best part of the house was the dining room, which was only available at 8:30 AM which is when breakfast was served which was quite nice. Actually, I had to sit on the couch and work from my laptop from a coffee table I just couldn’t understand why the dining room area wasn’t open to guests. There was just no way I was going to be comfortable staying at this property for five days and it just baffles me at the rates charge these days that we have to except inferior accommodations. I know they get a lot of good ratings, and I was even more baffled at how kind they said the owners were but all we ever got was a good morning, no conversation at all and our gut feeling is because we are a gay couple.

It is obvious the innkeeper makes every effort to make the inn a comfortable and as welcoming as possible. The Buffalo Tavern made me feel great about choosing the small inn over an institutional generic national hotel chain.

Step back in time and enjoy a bit of local history. The inn has been kept up to date without losing the uniqueness of it's story. The owners are delightful and more than willing to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and fresh.

Beautiful house with amazing history! We sat on the peaceful front porch for hours. Breakfast was delicious, beds were comfortable, and the hosts were excellent. Very cool experience!

Nice and quiet stay. Good parking area. Breakfast is prix fixe and I would love to have had an option for a biscuit or toasted bread. Breakfast was delicious and of gourmet quality. I noticed that there were no tea bags available on the beverage table, but there was a Keurig with a tea selection.

Breakfast on Saturday was not hot. Need a sidewalk or stepping stones from parking area to front door to avoid walking in grass and mud. Expected daily house keeping with fresh towels. Need more hooks in bathroom for hanging towels if not enough will be provided for the entire stay. Towels were rough, not plush & soft. Also, more hooks in the room to hang clothing Vs the 4 in our room. Owners were kind & pleasant and obviously want guests to feel welcome.

Step back in time and enjoy a bit of local history. The inn has been kept up to date without losing the uniqueness of it's story. The owners are delightful and more than willing to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and fresh.

Lovely location! A bit out of town, but easy access and lots of dining options in town, and they served a great breakfast! Magnificent front porch and lawn! Would gladly stay there again!

If you don't mind enforced breakfast with the other guests at 8:30, then this place was great. No coffee available until 8:30, and only once one sat down for breakfast at the table for eight. They said the Keurig was for all to use anytime, but they provided no mugs. So maybe bring your own mug? Also there was no choice for breakfast so as a vegetarian, it was a bit tough.

The property was very quaint and relaxing. We were visiting friends that lived close by so it was very convenient. The breakfast was delicious and host we extremely nice.

Rural property in the country with a long and interesting history. The hosts were wonderful and the sit down 8:30 breakfast was excellent. Took a prepared lunch with me that was also excellent. Very nice corner room, well appointed with a lot of character. The price is reasonable and I couldn’t recommend the inn more. I’ll return.

This was a wonderful full service B&B. While we arrived on sight after 10pm, the host was there to greet us and lead us to our room. He also showed us the breakfast and coffee / hot tea area. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. The hosts served a zucchini frittata with sausage and watermelon slices. We had fresh orange juice, hot tea and coffee. They willingly accommodated my Celiac disease dietary issues without pointing out any differences for other guests. We will be back!

Buffalo Tavern is a very old farmhouse. It is well maintained but shows a few signs of age, nothing unusual for a home over 150 years old, the porch and yard are beautiful. The breakfasts served were all gourmet quality. The town of West Jefferson is a few miles away and it is wonderful.

Quiet, clean, beautiful old home and tavern now operating as a B&B. The inn has 4 guest rooms and during our stay we had the opportunity to meet and talk to some interesting people. The hosts were friendly and the breakfast the 2 mornings of our stay were delicious. We enjoyed both time sitting on the porch reading, relaxing and talking to other guests as well as time in nearby West Jefferson (about 10 minute drive). We hope to visit again in the future.
