I stayed two nights. I liked the location as it is central and I could walk to most sights and shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice 360 degree rooftop and ok breakfast buffet. As most Portuguese hotels, the walls to the neighbouring rooms were ridiculously thin, which was very annoying as I had to listen to the neighbours conversations when trying to sleep.

I stayed two nights. I liked the location as it is central and I could walk to most sights and shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice 360 degree rooftop and ok breakfast buffet. As most Portuguese hotels, the walls to the neighbouring rooms were ridiculously thin, which was very annoying as I had to listen to the neighbours conversations when trying to sleep.

It is an excellent hotel. I still remember the breakfasts we had every morning. One downside is that the elevator only fits 2-3 people, so we always had to take the stairs, even to the 6th floor where the restaurant was. There was often a queue to the elevator on every floor.

The staff was very helpful. There's a 24 hour paid parking lot right behind the hotel if you need parking (we used this - 5 EUR/day) The location is quite central and walking distance to the city center (~15 - 20 mins)

Great value hotel. Clean, comfortable, decent food, central location and a communal terrace. I would certainly recommend. Ideal for a few days in Madeira.

Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly. My only complain are the mattresses. They were a bit too hard. Other than than, it was a great stay. They offer breakfast which was amazing. The view from the roof top was beautiful.

La première chambre qui nous a été attribuée sentait le tabac froid… nous l’avons signaler et nous avons été changé de chambre très rapidement. Merci à l’équipe pour leur réactivité. La nouvelle chambre attribuée était très propre. Le petit déjeuner sur le rooftop est un plus très appréciable. Le petit déjeuner est à volonté et très bon.

We spent one night at Hotel Orquidea. The space was clean and well-appointed. The staff was pleasant and were able to offer an excellent dinner recommendation. Easily walkable to several of Funchal’s attractions.

Hotel was in a great location with an amazing rooftop sitting area and restaurant. And that’s where the good news ends. The room was abhorrently loud, we felt like we were sleeping in the middle of the road. You can hear the neighbors talking, sneezing, snoring, and the traffic all day and night. The beds were uncomfortable, the shower water went from cold to lava, back to cold again every 10 seconds. Overall an uncomfortable couple of days.

It was a pleasant stay, the room was very clean and comfortable the only disappointment was that there was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room or small refrigerator for drinks, I expect this now in every 3/4 star hotel I stay in as there was no facility for drinks as the machine in the lobby was not working during my stay !

Room was tiny. Bathroom even smaller. An average size person would not be able to move in the bathroom facility. I am a small woman and it was difficult using the toilet and shower. Although I could not hear voices in the surrounding two rooms, I heard every flush of the toilets and the sound of the toilets and the showers being used. I have stayed in this facility three times in the past and have never had this issue. I was placed at the end of a hallway with two rooms on either side of which I could hear all the water sounds. On the plus side air conditioning did work.

Not much lighting in room, very dim and dull. No tea coffee making fascilities. toilet seat needed replacing. Toilet stuck behind door. Crappy shower curtain around a small shower basin. No shower shelf for shampoos/soaps. €120 a night is too much. Would only want to pay half that for that quality of the room.

For the location and price, this hotel was great. It is a budget hotel, I had to side step to fit into the bathroom (I’m 5’ 4” pretty small- can’t imagine someone bigger than me) and the AC didn’t work well. I ended up keeping my window open at night (I went in September). But the breakfast was great and the views from the restaurant & rooftop were stunning.

The accommodation was ok, would be better if the lavatory was chipped and there is a construction site next to it, meaning it was noisy during the day, and the shower was below par. However, the staff is friendly, there’s a great view from the rooftop, and location is ideal.

It's a nice three stars hotel, a little bit old but comfortable and not far from the center of Funchal, so you will be at walking distance of almost everything. Breakfast was nice, and the hotel staff was friendly.

Hotel location was excellent..staff was very nice... On the downside , there's construction happening right next to hotel so be prepared to hear noise starting at 8am. The reviews about the water temperature changes in the shower is still happening. The roof top terrace and location is what sold me on the room. Over all i would return and recommend it Breakfastbuffet has goodchoices.

The staff was very helpful. There's a 24 hour paid parking lot right behind the hotel if you need parking (we used this - 5 EUR/day) The location is quite central and walking distance to the city center (~15 - 20 mins)

The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of many city attractions. However, the room was not nice and had no view. The breakfast was fine. In my opinion, the best thing about the hotel is definitely the location.

Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly. My only complain are the mattresses. They were a bit too hard. Other than than, it was a great stay. They offer breakfast which was amazing. The view from the roof top was beautiful.

Good food, great views from the rooftop restaurant and near the centre of Funchal so a great base from which to travel around. Not five stars as the hot water in the shower went from cold to hot very quickly. Other than that, cannot fault it.

It's a nice three stars hotel, a little bit old but comfortable and not far from the center of Funchal, so you will be at walking distance of almost everything. Breakfast was nice, and the hotel staff was friendly.

Lidt gammelt hotel, der trænger til en opdatering, men alt i alt et godt sted. Restaurant med god morgenmad, og aftensmad kan også anbefales. Hotellet ligger centralt i forhold til offentlig transport, hvilket der er masser af.

We spent 2 nights here which we really enjoyed. Its close to the old town with its many great restaurants and bars. We ate breakfasts here and they were very nice. We also enjoyed a few drinks on the roof terrace.

The Reception staff were fair, You cannot check in until the allocated time, even if the room is ready. We had to ask a few times to have two tea cups placed in our room rather than just one but they sorted it on the last day. The breakfast is good. We paid for a superior room which had a lovely big balcony. There is a dressing table and stool, the hairdryer is located in the bathroom but there is no mirror in the dressing table area so you have to stand in the hallway to use the hairdryer, it's a small but annoying detail, why put a dressing table and chair but no mirror! The pool was great to use in the afternoons after a morning of sightseeing. There are around 10 sunbeds, otherwise you can just use chairs. There is a bar service with a very helpful member of staff but no service on a Sunday at all, which I did not realise. Don't expect the clean towels to all arrive at once, they eventually bring the clean towels in when they arrive at the hotel.

Nydelig bassengområde på taket. Savnet kjøleskap og muligheten for å lage en kopp kaffe på rommet. Var gjest i en uke, og trodde at et tre-stjernes hotell hadde både vannkoker og kjøleskap på alle rom. Måtte også bytte rom to ganger. Først fordi aircondition ikke virket, så fikk jeg et nytt rom der det var et mekanisk bråk som gjordet det svært vanskelig å sove.

Klimaanlage war eher lauwarmes Luftgebläse. Zimmer haben sehr muffig gerochen. Generell sehr alte Ausstattung. Personal war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Frühstück auch schlecht.
