Beautiful ocean views and nice spacious and clean rooms. We loved our stay here and which it was longer. The pool was closed and being renovated so they offered the neighboring hotels amenities instead which was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful in checking us in, booking tours, and making breakfast.

The good: the staff was friendly and helpful. The bad: it felt like staying in a construction site instead of a hotel. The hotel is going through major renovations. It is dirty all over and debris in some areas. Pool is closed and hot tab dismantled. Water leaking in the balcony and a lot of noise, water leaking and wet floor in the lobby, broken ceiling with construction equipment in the lobby. Basic breakfast is missing items on the short menu, and for any other food/meal we have been sent to a nearby hotel. We didn't know about the place status. The real status is far from the nice photos and amenities and the booking site.

We stayed at the Layan Hotel and Spa for 3 nights. We found it to be clean and safe. The pool was great and the bartenders Roy and Justine were amazing. The entire was staff were friendly and professional. Be warned that the parking lot is very small. There are 25 rooms and only 11 or 12 parking spots available so be prepared to possibly park in a small lot for 3 cars at the base of the driveway. Even with the parking situation I would recommend Layan Hotel and Spa if you are looking for a great location, beautiful views, clean and safe facilities and a great staff.

This is a nice hotel but the road to it is quite bumpy so be aware of that if you hire a car. Definitely worth booking a room with an ocean view as the view is fabulous! Breakfast is excellent but the service was often quite slow even when there weren't many people in the restaurant. The pool is a decent size and we had it pretty much to oursleves on most days. Staff are friendly and helpful. Uber is pretty cheap in the area for trips to local restaurants etc. - walking anywhere from the hotel is not easy because of the steep roads! Overall, I would reccommend this hotel.

This property is absolutely amazing. But the staff truly made it. Highly recommend coming here for the views from the pool decks. Amazing 360• views! And Angelo truly made the experience. A amazing cocktails, drinks and the food was great as well! Highly recommend!!!

The hotel is clearly under renovation and nobody told us before traveling from abroad in a group of 8 people with 4 little kids! Even though the staff was friendly and trying to help but the infrastructure of the hotel was beyond horrible. The pool was closed also under renovation. We did not know until we get there.

Gorgeous view! The servers were warm and so friendly. Our only complaints were the construction noise, some small issues with our room (eg curtains didn’t shut, doors opened randomly), and the lack of elevators (lots of stairs - probably would not recommend for mobility-challenged folks). However, we had a relaxing time and would definitely consider staying here again!

The hotel is very open which does mean that animals and bugs wander in. We did not mind because we came to see the wildlife but some people may not want that. The hotel seems to be in mid repair, there are some things that are broken and the elevator didn't work. The views are amazing. You can't beat watching toucans fly past your balcony. Breakfast and lunch were great. Dinner at the hotel is expensive and there weren't any kid friendly options so we only ate dinner once at the hotel. The beds were hard and very creaky. A/C worked great. Pool is very nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful with answering questions and booking tours for us. It's a short walk down to Biesanz beach which was good for swimming, or a quick drive to Manuel Anotonio park and beach.

Beautiful view. Plenty of monkeys and iguanas right in our balcony. Area renovated was really nice. Bedrooms were beautiful. Unfortunately, we stayed in the old part. Everything falling apart. Like a prison dungeon. Safe was not working. They tried to fix but at the end they changed our room... Hope they renovate to the same standards as the new part to become a very nice hotel.

We were not put into the room that we saw advertised online - be prepared for that and message the hotel before you book to make sure what you see is what you’re getting. It’s currently under renovation and certain rooms are much nicer than others. About 3/4 of the hotel seems to be renovated and is very nice. We were put into the 1/4 that is still yet to be renovated, and it showed. Dark hallways to the rooms only lit by motion lights, the smell of wet paint and paint stains were in the hallways, and drywall dust was still visible. For about $350 a night CAN we did not expect this. Room itself wasn’t terrible, had what you needed. But for the price, we were not happy. After 1 night of our 4 night stay, we asked to be switched into the room displayed online, and luckily they were available. The staff were very helpful and understanding with this. After this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool and lounge area with the ocean view on the roof is very nice! Included breakfast is always a plus. The food and drink menu the rest of the day was all excellent. One other more minor complaint is that parking is very tricky in this location. They have a very small parking lot that doesn’t accommodate the amount of guests in the hotel. It’s a space issue and not much the hotel can do about that, but we had to park on the street a couple of times. I would stay here again if I knew the renovations were complete and was getting what I paid for the second time.

We booked the Superior Room with an ocean view, but when we checked in, we were given one of the oldest, non-renovated rooms. It technically had an ocean view, but it mostly looked out over the hotel’s parking lot. The bathroom also had some mold. We asked to switch rooms and thankfully the staff was able to move us to another room with an ocean view, and in a little better condition than the first one. It felt like the hotel is in the middle of renovations, and honestly, parts of it seemed like they shouldn’t be open to guests right now. That said, the views are beautiful, and the beach is only a 10-minute walk away though keep in mind it’s uphill coming back. We liked the location and the scenery, but the hotel itself could use some serious updates.

The rooms are very clean, nice ocean view from your room (if you pick one) good breakfast, great ocean view from the restaurant, excellent customer services, it would be great if they provided golf carts to take you to the beach dowm the hill, beach near to the hotel is very nice l, peaceful but a little bit challenging to get to it

I loved staying at the Layan. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff, especially Allison and Megan, were very helpful and friendly. The staff at the restaurant were always friendly. The pool and view were glorious. The room did have a refrigerator and a coffee maker even though those were not listed in the description. I would stay there again. I did wish for more choices on the dinner menu.

The hotel is located down a hill that is currently under construction, so there is a lot of dust, mud and an occasion road closure. The property is nice but is a mix of catacomb like room areas and only about 10 parking spots. The rooms are clean and nice with SPECTACULAR view of the beach and surounding rain forest. The breakfast was good and there was about 8 different items to choose from. The staff was polite friendly and very helpful. The pool area is awesome, but we didn't get to enjoy it as much due to heavy rains. Playa Baisanz is a short walk down the road and worth the trip, it's less crowded and almost private. The street that leads to the main MA road is in an area with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars. I highly recommend you check out El Meracdito down the road.

Saw iguanas all over, had a coati on our balcony the first night, and one evening we saw white face monkeys climbing around the roof. Take any reviews from before summer 2024 with a grain of salt-this property is under new ownership, and they're currently working hard on updating the place while minimizing any inconvenience to guests. The new owner was wonderful to visit with and they were invested in making our stay exceptionally wonderful. As other reviews have stated, there is construction going on across the street- this wasn't a problem for us, we spent our day time hours exploring the area and the work was wrapped up long before we went to bed. There is a great beach within walking distance, but you will need a car for visiting Manuel Antonio. Front desk happily helped us with our reservation for Manuel Antonio and calling a cab. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Beautiful view. Plenty of monkeys and iguanas right in our balcony. Area renovated was really nice. Bedrooms were beautiful. Unfortunately, we stayed in the old part. Everything falling apart. Like a prison dungeon. Safe was not working. They tried to fix but at the end they changed our room... Hope they renovate to the same standards as the new part to become a very nice hotel.

We were not put into the room that we saw advertised online - be prepared for that and message the hotel before you book to make sure what you see is what you’re getting. It’s currently under renovation and certain rooms are much nicer than others. About 3/4 of the hotel seems to be renovated and is very nice. We were put into the 1/4 that is still yet to be renovated, and it showed. Dark hallways to the rooms only lit by motion lights, the smell of wet paint and paint stains were in the hallways, and drywall dust was still visible. For about $350 a night CAN we did not expect this. Room itself wasn’t terrible, had what you needed. But for the price, we were not happy. After 1 night of our 4 night stay, we asked to be switched into the room displayed online, and luckily they were available. The staff were very helpful and understanding with this. After this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool and lounge area with the ocean view on the roof is very nice! Included breakfast is always a plus. The food and drink menu the rest of the day was all excellent. One other more minor complaint is that parking is very tricky in this location. They have a very small parking lot that doesn’t accommodate the amount of guests in the hotel. It’s a space issue and not much the hotel can do about that, but we had to park on the street a couple of times. I would stay here again if I knew the renovations were complete and was getting what I paid for the second time.

We booked the Superior Room with an ocean view, but when we checked in, we were given one of the oldest, non-renovated rooms. It technically had an ocean view, but it mostly looked out over the hotel’s parking lot. The bathroom also had some mold. We asked to switch rooms and thankfully the staff was able to move us to another room with an ocean view, and in a little better condition than the first one. It felt like the hotel is in the middle of renovations, and honestly, parts of it seemed like they shouldn’t be open to guests right now. That said, the views are beautiful, and the beach is only a 10-minute walk away though keep in mind it’s uphill coming back. We liked the location and the scenery, but the hotel itself could use some serious updates.

This resort was super nice! Amazing view, the rooms were very big, bigger than we thought, the restaurant food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We wish we would have booked longer. We will definitely book and stay here next time and book for a week at least!

I loved staying at the Layan. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff, especially Allison and Megan, were very helpful and friendly. The staff at the restaurant were always friendly. The hotel is very open which does mean that animals and bugs wander in. We did not mind because we came to see the wildlife but some people may not want that. The hotel seems to be in mid repair, there are some things that are broken and the elevator didn't work. The views are amazing. You can't beat watching toucans fly past your balcony. Breakfast and lunch were great. Dinner at the hotel is expensive and there weren't any kid friendly options so we only ate dinner once at the hotel. The beds were hard and very creaky. A/C worked great. Pool is very nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful with answering questions and booking tours for us. It's a short walk down to Biesanz beach which was good for swimming, or a quick drive to Manuel Anotonio park and beach.

We stayed at the Layan Hotel and Spa for 3 nights. We found it to be clean and safe. The pool was great and the bartenders Roy and Justine were amazing. The entire was staff were friendly and professional. Be warned that the parking lot is very small. There are 25 rooms and only 11 or 12 parking spots available so be prepared to possibly park in a small lot for 3 cars at the base of the driveway. Even with the parking situation I would recommend Layan Hotel and Spa if you are looking for a great location, beautiful views, clean and safe facilities and a great staff.

This is a nice hotel but the road to it is quite bumpy so be aware of that if you hire a car. Definitely worth booking a room with an ocean view as the view is fabulous! Breakfast is excellent but the service was often quite slow even when there weren't many people in the restaurant. The pool is a decent size and we had it pretty much to oursleves on most days. Staff are friendly and helpful. Uber is pretty cheap in the area for trips to local restaurants etc. - walking anywhere from the hotel is not easy because of the steep roads! Overall, I would reccommend this hotel.

I had an excellent time at Layan hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful. Food was excellent. The view of the ocean from the restaurant and my balcony was beautiful. I even had a monkey come visit. Would stay again!

The property is nice but is a mix of catacomb like room areas and only about 10 parking spots. The rooms are clean and nice with SPECTACULAR view of the beach and surounding rain forest. The breakfast was good and there was about 8 different items to choose from. The staff was polite friendly and very helpful. The pool area is awesome, but we didn't get to enjoy it as much due to heavy rains. Playa Baisanz is a short walk down the road and worth the trip, it's less crowded and almost private. The street that leads to the main MA road is in an area with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars. I highly recommend you check out El Meracdito down the road.

The property was amazing with beautiful views and very relaxing, The room was soooooooo clean and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable (this is always an issue, but not this time). When they found out my husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding aniversary they hurried to accomodate a present for us to enjoy and create memories together. The restaurant was in a close by sister hotel and they took us back and forth in a golf cart. Very enjoyable experiend. Breakfast was included, and we were surprised of the amount of food and the variety. The buffet was a pleasant surprise. We could use the swiming pool at the hotel we were staying as well of the sister hotel where the restaurant was. There was a short walk to a very secluded beach ( ap piece of paradise) I have been to the are of Manuel Antonio many many times before, but this experience was top of the top Meagan, the receptionist was an angel that assisted us with professionalism and kindness.

This hotel is under renovations. We didn't know about it when we made a reservation. We came on 11/13 to the hotel and found out that it is under renovations. Why didn't Expedia let us know ??? We paid a full amount, even more than the other hotel next to this hotel that wasn't under renovations. Our hotel sent us to the next hotel if we wanted spa and pool. It was raining very heavily on that week, who wants to start going to the next hotel? Also there were wet spots in the hotel, breakfast was missing a lot of things on the menu, and they didn't have enough staff. I expect Expedia to check and let us know on the situation when the hotel is under renovations.
This hotel is under renovations. We didn't know about it when we made a reservation. We came on 11/13 to the hotel and found out that it is under renovations. Why didn't Expedia let us know ??? We paid a full amount, even more than the other hotel next to this hotel that wasn't under renovations. Our hotel sent us to the next hotel if we wanted spa and pool. It was raining very heavily on that week, who wants to start going to the next hotel? Also there were wet spots in the hotel, breakfast was missing a lot of things on the menu, and they didn't have enough staff. I expect Expedia to check and let us know on the situation when the hotel is under renovations.

The property was gorgeous. The staff at Blue Mirador were very kind and helpful. The bartender did not show up at all the next day, which was very disappointing because we were in Manuel Antonio for only two days. We however had the worst experience eating diner on both the nights at their partner restaurant—Shana by the beach. Blue Mirador does not have its own restaurant and so we had to go to Shana. The food was absolutely substandard and the wait staff were really rude. The one staff who served us both the nights, refused to give us regular water and insisted that we buy bottled water (which we principally don't in a place with clean water in order to avoid plastic waste). She was bursque and unsmiling throughout our interaction. On the first night I thought that maybe something was off—everyone can have a bad day. But the second night she behaved the same way, as if our presence was a bother. Addition to their behavior, I asked them for a seat by the balcony which was empty and they said they can't and gave some flimsy excuse. They also forgot to get me my drink. I don't know if they treat all their guests the same way, but it was a really bad experience during a really beautiful stay.

We were not put into the room that we saw advertised online - be prepared for that and message the hotel before you book to make sure what you see is what you’re getting. It’s currently under renovation and certain rooms are much nicer than others. About 3/4 of the hotel seems to be renovated and is very nice. We were put into the 1/4 that is still yet to be renovated, and it showed. Dark hallways to the rooms only lit by motion lights, the smell of wet paint and paint stains were in the hallways, and drywall dust was still visible. For about $350 a night CAN we did not expect this. Room itself wasn’t terrible, had what you needed. But for the price, we were not happy. After 1 night of our 4 night stay, we asked to be switched into the room displayed online, and luckily they were available. The staff were very helpful and understanding with this. After this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool and lounge area with the ocean view on the roof is very nice! Included breakfast is always a plus. The food and drink menu the rest of the day was all excellent. One other more minor complaint is that parking is very tricky in this location. They have a very small parking lot that doesn’t accommodate the amount of guests in the hotel. It’s a space issue and not much the hotel can do about that, but we had to park on the street a couple of times. I would stay here again if I knew the renovations were complete and was getting what I paid for the second time.

This is a nice hotel but the road to it is quite bumpy so be aware of that if you hire a car. Definitely worth booking a room with an ocean view as the view is fabulous! Breakfast is excellent but the service was often quite slow even when there weren't many people in the restaurant. The pool is a decent size and we had it pretty much to oursleves on most days. Staff are friendly and helpful. Uber is pretty cheap in the area for trips to local restaurants etc. - walking anywhere from the hotel is not easy because of the steep roads! Overall, I would reccommend this hotel.

I loved staying at the Layan. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff, especially Allison and Megan, were very helpful and friendly. The staff at the restaurant were always friendly. The pool and view were glorious. The room did have a refrigerator and a coffee maker even though those were not listed in the description. I would stay there again. I did wish for more choices on the dinner menu.

The hotel is very open which does mean that animals and bugs wander in. We did not mind because we came to see the wildlife but some people may not want that. The hotel seems to be in mid repair, there are some things that are broken and the elevator didn't work. The views are amazing. You can't beat watching toucans fly past your balcony. Breakfast and lunch were great. Dinner at the hotel is expensive and there weren't any kid friendly options so we only ate dinner once at the hotel. The beds were hard and very creaky. A/C worked great. Pool is very nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful with answering questions and booking tours for us. It's a short walk down to Biesanz beach which was good for swimming, or a quick drive to Manuel Anotonio park and beach.

The hotel is located down a hill that is currently under construction, so there is a lot of dust, mud and an occasion road closure. The property is nice but is a mix of catacomb like room areas and only about 10 parking spots. The rooms are clean and nice with SPECTACULAR view of the beach and surounding rain forest. The breakfast was good and there was about 8 different items to choose from. The staff was polite friendly and very helpful. The pool area is awesome, but we didn't get to enjoy it as much due to heavy rains. Playa Baisanz is a short walk down the road and worth the trip, it's less crowded and almost private. The street that leads to the main MA road is in an area with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars. I highly recommend you check out El Meracdito down the road.

Great location, great views. Room needed some repair. Shower had mold in the corners. The vanity had significant water damage that caused the wood to swell. Overall enjoyed the property and would stay there again.

Stayed for a night with big group - 20 people with kids. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was decent. Only thing we were so surprised by the fact that our big coach bus couldn't go to of the road "Calle Mariposa" leading to Layan and other hotels in that area. When we contacted Layan to help with their shuttle bus (2 mins drive from intersection of route 618 & CalleMariposa), hotel staffs were giving conflicting detail. Not sure if English was the problem. However, they told us they wouldn't help with transportation. We had to spend $100 USD to use taxi service. This was not convenient because we were big group with bags, this fact huge dent in our overall pleasure of vacation due to too much logistics. Plus: - Spacious and clean room - Decent breakfast Minus: - not sure if they have shuttle - reception staffed till 10pm only - limited parking (I guess)
