Pros: -Location: Across Ward Parkway from the center of the Plaza (Capital Grille). -Staff: Very friendly and quite accommodating. This is one of the best hotel staffs I’ve encountered! Everyone, and I mean, everyone, greeted you when they crossed your path. From the housekeeping staff, to doormen, to front desk people, to the maintenance man, and even the high school junior, who greeted me at the restaurant door and made conversation, as I waited on a to-go order. And if you needed something . . . anything—it was at your room in a jiffy. -You can self-park for $5 less than valet, per day, and the lot is right behind the hotel. It’s worth it to self park. -The building is old, but that is part of its charm. Elevators are small, but there are four of them, and the rooms themselves are well-kept and updated. -Room-darkening curtains make it extra dark at night—a plus for a good night’s sleep. Did I mention the staff? Extraordinary! Cons: One regret—in trying to save a buck, we got the smallest of the rooms, which is still more spacious than your average hotel room (it’s a small studio suite). The bathroom area was tight, though, and that was the main drawback. It’s a pretty penny to stay in this place, period, but if we could do it over again, we’d book the larger room.

Exceptional stay! Parking lot was adjacent to the building & was accessible 24/7 with room key. No garage! So easy to get in and out. Keurig & K-cups in the room was sooo nice for a nighttime & morning hot tea. Loved this hotel - especially being walking distance from the Plaza & so many restaurants.

The Rafael is a great classic friendly hotel with a good restaurant and close to the Plaza. We stay there when we come into town. Get the Premier Suite, it has its own jetted tub. Enjoy.

I’m stay in hotels very regularly, but this was one of the best. Great facilities and location, the room was modern and clean, but the staff made it feel like home from home. I certainly won’t stay anywhere else in KC going forward.

This was the perfect hotel for our visit to Kansas City. We could look out at the Plaza from our window. Also, could see the Nelson Atkins Museum (nearby, we walked there). The staff were very friendly, Tracy Brown was just lovely to us. Very sweet for my birthday. The room was very clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. If you love the Plaza area, this is the perfect hotel. Breakfast was delicious every day. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay wonderful!

For excellent reasons, I have been a regular guest at the Raphael for years. It always amazes me to be greeted by name upon my arrival. The staff are always courteous and professional. The rooms speak for themselves. Always clean, tastefully decorated, and full of amenities. The historic architecture and the convenient location are why I have always wanted to be a regular guest at the Raphael.

The mattress on the fold-out couch was truly pathetic. Our daughter normally sleeps very soundly, but the noise this "mattress" made every time she moved, coupled with how extremely thin it was, made it a sleepless night before a college interview. Not at all what I expected for the price.

From the moment we stepped on this property until the moment we left, we were treated like kings and queens. The front desk was exceptional. Amazing hotel! Will definitely stay here again and can’t wait for our stay. The staff was amazing and helpful. Valet was extremely timely and kind! Hotel was extremely clean and beautiful!

The staff members were amazingly helpful and the hotel was beautiful with a unique charm. I enjoyed every minute of my stay there and highly recommend it for anyone visiting the KC area.

Exceptional stay! Parking lot was adjacent to the building & was accessible 24/7 with room key. No garage! So easy to get in and out. Keurig & K-cups in the room was sooo nice for a nighttime & morning hot tea. Loved this hotel - especially being walking distance from the Plaza & so many restaurants.

We loved the Raphael Hotel for our visit to KC! The room was spacious, clean, and just right for our family of 4. The service was outstanding by the front desk. We also enjoyed appetizers and drinks downstairs at The Chaz, and it was phenomenal. We can’t wait to stay here again when we return to the KC area! Recommended for all who want to be in the Country Club Plaza area.

Beautiful hotel with very nice nice dining and bar with music. Bed was very comfortable and linens were top notch. Room service was fast and breakfast was hot and delicious. I will be rebooking again when I stay in Kansas City.

The hotel, suite, and lounge were very good. The restaurant’s was not as good. Very lengthy time between order and food. About 45 minutes and it wasn’t very busy.

Spacious rooms. From the bellman to the valet top notch. Only issue was our room wasn’t ready and was told we would get a call when it was and our luggage would be sent to our room. When we got there looks like there was a different front desk person and our things were still sitting in the lobby. They redeemed themselves with an amazing room service breakfast. Best Eggs Benedict if ever had. Plus the bar in the restaurant had top notch service.

We often try to stay at Autograph Collection hotels when we travel. I’ve always been impressed with the accommodations, cleanliness and service. The Raphael did not come close to what I’ve come to expect from an Autograph Collection hotel. While the staff was courteous, the accommodations were mediocre and cleanliness was questionable - both in the hotel and in the restaurant. This was especially surprising because The Raphael was one of the more expensive Autograph Collection hotels we’ve visited in the Midwest.

We paid a premium on the day of a World Cup game. The hotel was fine, but not worth $1400 for one night. The gym is small. The carpet is worn. The room cleanliness was fine and the amenities provided in the shower were only fine. For the price I expected a very premium experience and it was just meh. I have had much nicer experiences at other hotels and paid $1000 less per night. Florian at the front desk was great though.
