Desert Sands Denton near UNT I 35 TX

I booked a room at DESERT SANDS DENTON for myself and my daughter for the SNW Festival 2026. We were completely horrified. The photos hotels.com have on their site definitely do not represent what you have to look forward to: Urine on tub and side of sink. Dirty toilet bowl brush on floor, towels above toilet used and folded back up, ceramic TP holder broken and jagged sticking out of wall and less than 1/3 roll of TP sitting on a dirty window sill. Mirror and sink and bath tub as well horrendous. Walls in room please don’t get me started. There was some substance all over one of headboard's and on top of it all the door wouldn’t shut properly nor would lock and my daughter was told if we were in room with keycards nobody could get in. The light switch was black. I have INCLUDED PHOTOS…..My daughter said she’d rather sleep in car, I agreed w her. No availability for at least 20 miles for something under $500 per night and was told no refund by front desk that had to go to the third party (hotels.com) and get it from them. I will let ya’ll know what outcome we get.

How much do I hate thee? Let me count the ways. • Door deadbolt lock has no recess for the bolt to slide into - it does nothing. • Huge stain on carpet. • 2 lamps, each had only 1 light bulb. • Florescent light has bad ballast. Must climb up on chair and wiggle it to make it come on. • Mini-fridge sitting on top of the cardboard microwave box. • Microwave sitting on top of nightstand by front door. • I re-purposed the desk chair as a nightstand next to the bed. • No lamp next to bed - moved one lamp to my chair-nightstand. • No alarm clock. • Clothes rack has no hangers. • No luggage rack. • No chest of drawers. • Bathroom: • Ceiling and walls have stained, bubbled & unfinished plaster. • Towel rack missing the hanging rod. • Soap and toothbrush trays broken off. • Toilet paper roller broken off. • Toilet paper: one-half roll for a two-day stay. No backup. Good luck! • Bath towels and hand towels, but no washcloths. • Sink has no stopper. Don't drop anything down there... Don't come here. Let it die a slow deserving death.

This was so terrible on arriving that we decided not to check in, at the cost of some money. There was trash in the parking lot. The office smelled. The whole place seemed run down. And there was the ominous sign in the office saying "No refunds after 10 minutes" that suggested some number of other people want to leave after seeing the room or what is in it (which may take more than 10 minutes. The staff said that they could only mark us as a "no-show" and they acted like this would get us our money back, but of course that was a lie. There were decent places that only cost 10 or 20 more.
