An average hotel . Pool and spa was old and dirty, it was run by a Hindu family! There were like 10 family members that all lived on site. The suite was small with two couches that turned into hidabeds! Nice breakfast area but the hot food was not good!

We changed into bathing suits and went down to pool, only to find a sign saying it was closed. It would have been nice if that were mentioned during our check in. The manager was a little rude. The eggs and gravy for the biscuits and gravy were cold at breakfast. It's a 1 start hotel, so I guess you can't expect a lot...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wenhad troubles with locking our door and everything was a bit outdated / run down. We were looking forward to enjoying the pool area, but it looked so uninviting we decided not to use it. There aren't many hotel choices in De Smet, so it was OK for 1 night.

Perfect location for visiting the Ingalls Homestead. The breakfast was good…kids had the waffles so they were happy. We enjoyed the pool…it wasn’t huge but it was ideal for us. The room was a good sized family room with plenty of space.

We decided against swimming based on the appearance of the bottom of the pool and hot tub. There was no one at the desk when we arrived nor when it was time to check out. Continental breakfast was enough to grab a bite until we found something for an early lunch.

It was a decent place to stay. Large TV, mattresses were thin but did the job. Pool was closed before 10:00. We thought it was open until 10. Door to the room was super hard to open. Towels and pillow case stained with bodily fluids. Hair on pillow and excrement on underside of toilet seat. We were stuck there as it was late and there were no other accommodations. We had to use disinfectant wipes to clean the room. We kept our sox on and bags off the floor. We asked for new towels and we’re handed some equally dingy looking ones. Checking in past the posted time of check in, the gentleman at the front desk had to run upstairs to see if our room was ready. We watched him on the security camera screens talking to children with vacuums and an adult female. Came back down and said the room was ready and I informed him we had 2 rooms, up the stairs he went again. In the meantime other people had come to check in. Room was ok but there was food under the dresser and shower curtain was dirty, didn’t feel comfortable showering there.

Our room was damp and moldy. They did not supply things they said they would (crib). When we reported mold and dampness, they said they couldn't do anything about it and have us a Manager's number. The "manager" never answered after multiple calls and didn't respond to our voicemail either. Windows were filled with live beetles so we couldn't open the windows. The water was barely tepid. The breakfast was definitely at least from the day before. Eggs were like hard rubber. Bread was hard.

After getting ghosted by Arlington Inn we were forced to stay here last minute. Would not choose this place again. The beds were very noisy and made a tinny noise when you got up from them. If you don’t mind that the rest was subpar.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable but the room definitely needed updating. The caulking between the bathroom counter and the surround was cracked and separated and the toilet seat was chipped on both sides.

There are few if any other options than this hotel in De Smet. It was clean and conveniently located in the center of everything Laura Ingalls Wilder. The scam was the listing claiming they provided breakfast. Only carbs, with old hard biscuits, sausage gravy dumped out from a can into a crock pot that was barely warm after two hours. They had hard boiled eggs that were very old with dark green yokes. No one staying ate it. The owner could be seen in a room behind the front desk and he was in bed until well after 8:00. Everything else was fine but don't count on an edible breakfast.

The breakfast was not very good. The eggs and sausage was dried out, the sausage grave had crusted over with a thick layer. Just not good.

There are few if any other options than this hotel in De Smet. It was clean and conveniently located in the center of everything Laura Ingalls Wilder. The scam was the listing claiming they provided breakfast. Only carbs, with old hard biscuits, sausage gravy dumped out from a can into a crock pot that was barely warm after two hours. They had hard boiled eggs that were very old with dark green yokes. No one staying ate it. The owner could be seen in a room behind the front desk and he was in bed until well after 8:00. Everything else was fine but don't count on an edible breakfast.

Several outlets did not work the lights between the beds wasn’t working the bulbs were unscrewed to turn off and on room was only cleaned once during 3 day stay. The breakfast was extremely linited

Our room was damp and moldy. They did not supply things they said they would (crib). When we reported mold and dampness, they said they couldn't do anything about it and have us a Manager's number. The "manager" never answered after multiple calls and didn't respond to our voicemail either. Windows were filled with live beetles so we couldn't open the windows. The water was barely tepid. The breakfast was definitely at least from the day before. Eggs were like hard rubber. Bread was hard.

We changed into bathing suits and went down to pool, only to find a sign saying it was closed. It would have been nice if that were mentioned during our check in. The manager was a little rude. The eggs and gravy for the biscuits and gravy were cold at breakfast. It's a 1 start hotel, so I guess you can't expect a lot...

We arrived around 10:30 pm. We called ahead to make sure someone would be there as it’s a small town. TV didn’t work, we had to move the dresser to plug it in. Not a big deal. Went out for breakfast, bananas were brown and their gravy was burning in the crockpot. For $100 /night I guess I expected a little better.

Perfect location for visiting the Ingalls Homestead. The breakfast was good…kids had the waffles so they were happy. We enjoyed the pool…it wasn’t huge but it was ideal for us. The room was a good sized family room with plenty of space.

It was a decent place to stay. Large TV, mattresses were thin but did the job. Pool was closed before 10:00. We thought it was open until 10. Door to the room was super hard to open. Toilet need to be updated to handicapped (higher and elongated). Scrambled eggs at breakfast were cold. Enough food choices for breakfast.

It worked for our one-night stay in town. The public spaces were very warm and muggy when we arrived, and the rooms didn't have the AC turned on, so it took a few hours for the rooms to cool down. The beds were clean and the bathrooms were dated but decently clean, however the rest of the rooms weren't cleaned very thoroughly, and the old carpet highlighted this. It has little lodging competition in the town, but I would have appreciated a higher level of maintenance. Staff was mostly 1 person, but he was kind. The kids enjoyed the pool.

Our room was clear and the clerk who checked us in was friendly and accommodating. He even offered us fresh peaches from a box donated by a local farmer. We didn't eat breakfast but it looked fine - eggs, fresh made waffles, etc. From the outside the motel looks a bit neglected but inside everything was fine.
