Red Lion Hotel Portland Airport

Staff was friendly. There's no lift to second floor so if you have bags or trouble carrying them up stairs then I don't recommend. Room was very poor condition, although clean. The door handles seemed to be put upside down so we had difficulty accessing entry. The bolt lock was coming off wall, cracked mirror frames, particle board exposed with nails on furniture, wet spots on carpet ( guess they just were cleaned?), just over all run down. Shuttle was easy, although we are disputing an overnight parking charge and we didn't have a car but have been told it will be reversed. Overall it's $100 for a clean place to stay, although the condition of the room gave initial doubts but for me friendly staff and clean is more priority. Can't say I wouldn't stay again but I now know what to expect from room.

Upon checking in, there was a bag by the door with a pair of women’s underpants just laying on the ground. It was there for a day and a half. The room itself was outdated with popcorn ceiling. The frame cracked where you could tell the door had been kicked in. No breakfast.. just coffee. You have to get your parking validated every time you wanted to leave. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It’s serviceable if you need a roof over your head and a shower. But I would spend the extra 20 bucks a night get yourself breakfast and an updated room.

Cleaning staff was up and at it early. I was hoping to sleep in a bit but they were making a lot of noise and I couldn’t get back to sleep. As I was leaving a cleaning staff member asked me you leaving now, to get into the room. Not how was your stay. I chose this particular hotel because I had a medical emergency on a flight into Portland and had to go to the ER after I landed. I got in late and was hoping to rest and check out was advertised as noon instead of 11. I needed some extra sleep before I could make a two and a half hour drive home. But the slamming of doors and giggling and talking by cleaning staff made that impossible. I expected some noises early in the Am and had ear plugs. But there didn’t seem to be consideration for guests who actually checked out late.

Very clean with a friendly staff. Coffee was good, airport shuttle was on time, plenty of parking and super easy property to navigate with pets. It’s an older building and not well insulated - still a terrific value and super convenient.

The hotel was just okay. It is an older hotel that has lacked ongoing updates, but it was the most affordable hotel in the area.
