Limited parking - had to use public car park. Room at top of building - no lift - no assistance with lugguge, Staff polite.

All ok,but a warning the car park only has eight spaces,for 25 rooms,first come first served.there is another car park a few minutes away it’s £5.60 for 24 hours

An older property so no lift to top floors, awkward with a twisted ankle but otherwise fine.

The staff were fantastic and really helpful, the bar was a nice comfortable place to go. However! Parking was extremely limited - there are only a handful of spaces so we had to use the local pay and display. The room decor was quite dated. The bed was solid, squeaky and the bedding itself uncomfortable. The shower pressure was so bad we couldn't use it. The room in general was quite dusty. This hotel is fine for a one night stayover, which is what we booked it for, on our way to our final destination but wouldn't recommend for a longer stay. I must reiterate - the staff were all really lovely, and the bar a nice place to go. We didn't try the food but it smelled really nice.

We were in the area staying overnight for a family birthday party, we had a family room which consisted of a double bed and 2 singles. All beds were clean and the room was spacious and clean although there was a musty smell to the room. The bathroom was spacious with a corner shower unit, the seal for the shower door could do with replacing as kept falling out, and there was no pressure at all on the shower, but we put this down to being right on the top floor of the hotel, had we been there for more than one night it would have become a problem. There is no lift at the property, which we knew in advance, if you had mobility problems/disabled this hotel isn’t for you. Both outside seating areas are very nice, we met up with family and enjoyed having a few drinks with them outside. We arrived early for check in but as our room was ready we were allowed to go straight in which was nice. The only downside we can say is we checked the bar opening hours before we left the hotel for our party and they were in the guest handbook as closing at 12 on a Friday and Saturday night, we arrived back at 1140 and even though the front door was shut (room key opens room and front door of hotel) there were still quite a few people sat around in the bar area with drinks, when we went to the bar to order some drinks we were told that the bar was closed for the night, which was a shame as we’d arranged our taxi to get us back before it closed especially for us to have a bedtime drink in the hotel

Well placed in the centre of town, this is a popular venue for locals and visitors it seems, with tables outside as well as in. The parking is tight, and the receptionist lovely and helpful when we checked in. We would stay here again.

Stayed for one of the summer session gigs at the racecourse. Friendly welcome from Ricky and room was comfortable. Parking was full and would have been tight for our car anyway. Nelson street pay and display was handy directly behind hotel, only a short stay between 8am-6pm car park so if arriving late afternoon, you can park there overnight. Didnt eat or drink there but bar looked lovely. Dont walk to racecourse if staying for an event, its a long way uphill and there was a shuttle bus from tesco. Would stay again.

The only negative thing about staying here for the first time was finding the car park of the hotel which after driving in a circle twice and stopping outside the hotel we were instructed where to go - written directions to find the hotel and car park at the rear of the hotel would have been a great help but the room and staff were fantastic

A bit tired hotel which is also a pub Walking distance to Chepstow station and 1/2 hourly service to Cardiff Central

The bed is very sqeeky, the bathroom door doesn't shut, the window latch came off in my hand, the shower pressure is not good at all and not much hot water.

Excellent staff, absolutely top-notch customer service. We were given room 11 at check-in. It smelled very musty and had black mold on the bathroom ceiling. We requested a new room and the staff gave us a much better room and were so attentive to our needs. The hotel is in a great location in Chepstow. The property is tired and worn but it is tidy and a good bargain for a few nights in the area.

Ok for a pub ‘hotel’. Decent shower but toilet was tight against the radiator and impossible to sit on squarely. Room wasn’t dirty but equally wasn’t the cleanest. We were charged £15 for having a dog but normally getting a few biscuits and a dog bowl. supposedly for ‘special cleaning products’, but no sign

Nice area, few minute walk to the train station which was great as I was alone and felt safe walking back at night. Room was very basic but clean and had everything I needed for the night. Staff were lovely and let me check in early on request. Car park out back was free but not a lot of spaces so it’s first come first served however I did see a car park nearby by you could pay for. Came for a concert in Cardiff which was perfect with the easy access via train and miles cheaper than Cardiff centre. Would stay again:)

What a lovely place to stay! Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, allowing us to leave our car parked and access our room early. The family room was just right for us and clean and comfortable. It's in an ideal location in the middle of Chepstow and we hope that we will be able to come again and stay for longer!

This was advertised as a 2 star hotel and it is. Has really good WiFi and is very clean. Was pretty expensive for what it is, but maybe this was because Taylor Swift was playing in Cardiff that night so accom was at a premium. Keep expectations low.

Great location but rooms are tiny. Pillows were plastic and there was an old plastic bag in our shower. Shower barely worked. It was cheap so I guess you pay for what you get? Wouldn’t stay again BUT if you don’t mind the issues I’ve mentioned the location is spot on. Easy parking. Near to everything.

Stayed for 3 nights no problems staff fantastic breakfast sets you up for the day, room was comfortable and clean

The room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable, especially the bed. The stairs are a bit of a challenge, especially up to the third floor where there is a narrow section, but it is a very old building so this is to be expected. My only criticism has to be the shower. We were up in room 23, and the water pressure is close to zero. Sink and toilet are fine, but the shower is pretty much unusable. This issue urgently needs resolving, but as I say apart from this it was really an excellent stay and we would stay there again.

Bed rather uncomfortable, did not sleep well

The property is what you would expect in a very old hotel in wales. Tiny tiny bedrooms, fully equipped, obviously no AC.

Horrendous room. I paid £144 for a room that had a tiny bed with awful mattress and a shower that couldn’t be used. Was either boiling hot or freezing cold. The second you added the cold to the mixer tap it would go freezing. Impossible to get to a usable or even safe temperature. The pub downstairs was lovely and the staff great. But the rooms were just truly awful.

The mattress was completely worn down. We even tried rotating and could still feel the springs. The shower had very low pressure.

Staff are excellent Sorry there weren’t any evening meals on offer , we ended up in Wetherspoons which was pretty good food Beds were very creaky as was the bathroom door. Even though the bar was downstairs we didn’t hear a peep Right on the high street and has its own car park Wi-Fi was disappointing

It is impossible to set rite shower temp in the room 15 But staff is supper friendly and helpful

booked through Hotels.com and had a price only to be charged something difference on the check in date, manager could not change this, told another member of would do this who was in at 10.00am the next day, i was checking out at 7.30am not 10.00am. Low quality everything.

Having read the reviews we were a little apprehensive about booking but the location was were we wanted to be and as it was just 1 night we decided to give it a try. We booked a double room and it was made available to us early. The welcome on reception was really good. Climbing the stairs to the first floor to find our room, the pattern on the carpet does it best to hide tgat its threadbare in many places. The room was compact but had ample tea and coffee and a floor standing fan. There had clearly been an attempt to refresh which sadly didn't extend to the small shower room. Simple regrouting, a new basin and tap and a soft close toilet seat would've made a difference but the main complaint which is key for a hotel was the mattress which is clearly cheapnas when your partner moves so do you and the shower which to call it that could breach trading standards! However, the plus points are the staff who are lovely and really go the extra mile to make sure you're okay, the food which was great, husband had the beef for sunday lunch and said it was the best he's had in ages and the location. A little bit of investment would makeva massive difference to customer experience and ratings.

Busy hotel centrally located - a little tired looking, but great staff and service

Second time staying here and again was not disappointed. Lovely Hotel, Helpful and Friendly staff.

Overnight stay for business in the area. Small single room with basin in room and ensuite shower and WC. Very quiet. Good breakfast. Shame travel delays meant I could not explore the town better. Castle a short walk away looks like it would be amazing in daylight.

We got a last minute booking here to go to the Taylor Swift concert in Cardiff, convenient location for the train station only 5 minutes walk and 35 mins on the train. All the staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was very good. Not a lot in the local area, unless you are going to Chepstow racecourse, but looked like there were plenty of places for food and drink.

Good central location. Room a bit tired but bed was comfy. Cooked breakfast was excellent.

Good value for money , great location

Very conveniently located in centre of Chepstow, historic building.

Walkable to train/bus station.

The staff were really friendly and helpful however that’s the only real positive I have for this place. The room was cold and noisy (the window was ancient and didn’t shut properly). It was clean but like the rest of the place badly in need of a lick of paint and some TLC. Parking was advertised as being included but the reality is there’s only a few places available and if full you have to pay car park fees over the road. So I spent an extra few quid more than I expected too over and above the agreed price. Breakfast was poor in my opinion. Wouldn’t stay here again

Really friendly staff, great food and bar. Breakfast and sunday carvery were great! Room was comfortable and spacious, great bathroom, everything we needed. Dog friendly. Right in the centre of town, with lots of good pubs and restaurants close by. Lots of history, beautiful castle and scenery. Everyone very friendly, we hope to stay again!

Comfortable, clean. welcoming and in the centre of town. Great value for money and the homemade pizza is awesome.

My only fault with this place is the breakfast, it's £14.95 regardless of what you have, so if you have full English it's that price, fine but if you have egg on toast it's still £14.95, so I had breakfast somewhere else. They are missing out there.

Hotel is old and quirky as you'd expect from such an old building. Owners were very pleasant. Breakfast was delicious
