Una estancia en el Red Lion es un viaje cultural al pasado. No es un hotel moderno pero todo funciona perfectamente. Cada habitación es distinta, la decoración es ecléctica y antigua como corresponde a un establecimiento venerable. Solo para amantes de ambiente con carácter y personalidad con 253 años a sus espaldas. La atención del personal, tanto en recepción como en restaurante, es excepcional. Transmiten el orgullo de trabajar en un hotel donde los estándares de calidad y de atención al cliente son absolutos. La cocina es de altísima calidad, el menú excelente. Una experiencia inolvidable.

We had a nice stay at the Red Lion Inn. Our room was clean and had a fireplace, but did not have a mini-refrigerator and the TV was placed to the side of the bed. The restaurant charged a lot ($65 for a filet mignon entree) and the food was not up to that price. The bread and salad were a la carte. The whole place seemed in need of a refresh.

We have stayed here several times, but this was our first stay in one of the outbuildings. The Red Lion owns several houses on their block in Stockbridge that have been made over into rooms. Our room was on the second floor -- might be useful to add that info to the descriptions, as there is no elevator, just stairs. It was adequate. The old New England charm of mismatched crockery and little samplers, funky design and what my husband called "grandmother smell" is everywhere. It's like staying in the spare room at your grandmother's house. Many find this charming, and many pay several times over what the other accomodations in the area charge. It's okay. The Inn would not accept our dining reservation on line, even though we were hotel guests - and did not return calls to the dining room even though we called several weeks in advance of our stay. That seemed unacceptable. The front desk offered a lukewarm apology. Meh.

The amenities on the main property were nice. Be warned, the campus is large and some of the lodging is across a deathly intersection and down a hill a quarter mile away. Not what we were expecting when we booked an 80 yo b-day trip with a 78 yo as well. We picked Red lion due to the walk ability in town and dining. They moved our group the following day so that the two elders were in the main hotel. With the couple a sibling in the building next door. They did upgrade us to suites which was nice, but they put the elders had a totally inaccessible claw foot tub with no way to enter, exit or put any shower stuff, downgraded the king to a full and upgraded the queen to a king. Thankfully we were family and swapped rooms. We still need to figure out the expense between us bc one prepaid and then got a $600 charge. Not sure I can recommend with all the changes. The furniture is very dated, the mattresses were great.
