We came for the waterpark to be informed when we arrived that it was closed and that no one could tell me because I booked on Expedia. That should be worked out between them and Expedia. In addition the floors were dirty in our room, there were ants and sand in the normal indoor pool and the restaurant was closed both evening and morning we were there. My two young boys were heartbroken that we drove two hours each way for such a bad experience.

Facility is older but certainly unique in its design. Rooms are spacious but simply have not seen an update now in what I would estimate it 15 or so years. Waterpark is fun but as evidence on the remaining leafs on the fake palm trees, it needs some major TLC. The overall resort just feels worn out and tired. The ‘free’ pool is stuck in 1980 and you likely won’t find any ‘gym-style’ towels while visiting. Both hot tubs were broken while there and wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they decide to just fill one in with concrete (actually, they’ll probably just rope it off and let it rust away). Overall you pay a premium when you pay for a room plus a resort fee plus water park admission and everywhere you look it seems as it breaks, just remove it or put a board over it. If you’re looking for a place to take kids to get out of the cold, sure, it’s fine. If you’re looking for a truly resort experience, this is not the place for the price.

Arrowwood is a nice stop-over for longer trips to or from the Twin Cities. We like the free kayaks and dock fishing. But teens hate the “sketch” WiFi.

We really enjoyed all of the options for activities, beach and being right on the lake. But the property itself really needs some updates. The plaster and tile in the pool, hot tub, water park are all coming off. I was worried my kids would cut their feet while in them. There were rakes & cut thorn bushes laying by the playground all weekend - which was not safe for children. The lights went out while we were in the pool - scared kids. Fire alarm went off multiple times. All outside doors were locked needing your room key access - but multiple didn’t work so needing to walk farther to the next door with little children & full arms wasn’t convenient. The food at the pool/lakeside “restaurant” was basic deep fried but $20+ per plate and very slow to come out (1 person at a time) so that wasn’t worth it with little children. We did enjoy it due to location & activity options but concerns all around.

Property was pretty run down and extremely understaffed. Front desk staff was relatively nice but bar/restaurant/marina staff could have definitely been better. Room was ready when we arrived a little early but had dirty laundry and a dirty toilet. Toilet didn't flush properly. No where to hang wet towels in room which is crazy for a place with multiple pools and a lake. Food was super expensive for the quality. Multiple lounge chairs around the pools were broken. This place could use some serious love

Rooms were nice. Waterpark is extremely run down. Water was freezing. Was additional cost to get into and I will not be returning to it. Very disappointed. Stairs and floor had a slimy film on them.

Family friendly. Plenty to do. Bring towels, sand toys and pool toys. The rooms were spacious. Definitely needs some maintenance. You could tell there was water damage at some point but not ever really fixed. There we water stains on the ceiling in our room plus it smelts very damp. The water park is falling apart. Not worth $15 per person unless you have younger kids.

The bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Bar didn't stay open very long, possibly due to off season. Did not eat in the restaurant due to off season hours. Front desk staff was friendly. Overall, a good stay.

The property was very dated and not clean. the dirt on the doors leading into and in our room was very visible and had been there for a long time. luckily, i had clorox wipes which were black just from the door alone. All surfaces produced dirt after wiping down, particularly the air conditioner which had likely never been wiped down. the room was very musty and smelled of a space that had been closed for a long time. the wallpaper was peeling in the room, the windows were filthy in our room, as well as common areas. The hot tub was not functional the first night and the water was actually green, so we went over to the pool and the grout was filthy. Very disappointing, because I had thought this was supposed to be a great property. It was quite outdated, run down and overall not clean.

Room was dirty. Smelt like smoke. No air conditioning. Old boiler system and was already shut off for season. Room was hot and they told us to sleep with the door open. Asked for a fan. 35 minutes later and 2 more phone calls we got a fan that didnt work. Was miserable and staff was not helpful or friendly at all.

So I think this is the first time I’ve ever complained but this place was gross and I got nothing resolved from them so I thought I’d warn people. I walked in with my 2 year old after flying all day to a bathroom smeared with brown in random places and dyed onto the shower curtain. Also whoever was in the room previously’s hair all over the place very obviously, dirt (socks were dark after walking through) and trash in the cans from the people before us. Then my bath tub nor the sink would drain. So I asked front desk to help me out (while trying to control the now very tried angry toddler at 11pm) They sent someone to fix the drains and they left all of the cloths they used to clean out the drain and whatever came out of it all over the tub after they left. I reached out once again to ask someone to come clean the bathroom again and no one ever came. I did this two more times before buying my own cleaning products. $800.00 dollars later for cleaning the place myself and a toddler that beat my ass for not being able to go to bed. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel much less resort.

Hallway light in suite has 20 watt bulbs in it. Unbelievable place sitting in a time warp from the 1970's.

I use to bring my kids here all the time when they were growing up because it was such an amazing place. The last time I visited was 5 years ago and it was decent. We decided to spend a few days there this past weekend, we spent three days there and I was blown away by how horrible it has gotten. It stunk like urine in the hallways, unclean rooms is an understatement, the floors were not vaccumed in the 3 days we were there, hot tub didnt work,the one housekeeper wasn't even wearing shoes. I could go on and on about the uncleanliness. I did ask to switch rooms the second night because the hallway stunk of sewer along with the urine smell and I will say she did switch us to a new level/room but it wasn't much better. I am not one to usually complain but to me its was a lot of money and I would definitely go somewhere else next time. It's such a shame because Arrowood was once such an amazing place to visit. I truly hope someone takes over and brings this place back to a fun/clean place to go.

Great location and beautiful grounds! The rooms are a bit dated and need a facelift. My closet door was broken, the bathroom soap was deteriorating, there was someone’s leftover food in my refrigerator, and the coffee selection in the room was subpar.

Property needs a makeover. Rooms and hallway smelt of old cigarettes. Wallpaper needs to be taken down and walls need a fresh coat of paint. That would make this property look and smell a lot better. If you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. You can hear other room’s air conditioners running which is very loud. If you go end of September bring an extra blanket for sleeping. They have a boiler system so they can either have air or heat but not both. Since the weather has been in the 80s they still have the air on, which makes sense. However, the nights gets cold so I froze sleeping. An extra blanket would have been perfect. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Nice location, lots of amenities. Room was outdated decor and no thermostat. We could not get the air conditioning to adjust to heat and were freezing. We all slept with our clothes on since the bedding was so thin, even with the extra blanket provided. Room was were incredibly thin. We had a toddler in the room next to use who was crying all night and morning and it sounded like it was in our room. Also hallway conversation was so loud we could hear everything. Brunch at onsite restaurant was limited in choices and some options were cold. Staff was very friendly in the restaurant.

Stayed one night. Chose it because it is on the lake and close to the winery. It’s more than we wanted to spend at $245 but thought we would treat ourselves. It was a Saturday so it was pretty busy with golf groups, weddings and families. A lively atmosphere- obviously short staffed (service flow), but everyone is understanding and patient. This resort is showing its age, wall paper peeling off the walls, carpet worn, it needs a little TLC. Our room had a nice view of the lake and a little balcony. The TV had no signal and WiFi did not work. I called front desk thinking I was doing something wrong, the staff seemed aware of the problem- and suggested I try a couple things to no avail. Very minor inconvenience. Water pressure was great. Bed comfortable and surprisingly quiet given all the young children that were staying there. We enjoyed the free putting course and the bag toss. No regrets staying there but we don’t need to spend this much for a one night stay.

This resort is showing its age, wall paper peeling off the walls, carpet worn, it needs a little TLC. Our room had a nice view of the lake and a little balcony. The TV had no signal and WiFi did not work. I called front desk thinking I was doing something wrong, the staff seemed aware of the problem- and suggested I try a couple things to no avail. Very minor inconvenience. Water pressure was great. Bed comfortable and surprisingly quiet given all the young children that were staying there. We enjoyed the free putting course and the bag toss. No regrets staying there but we don’t need to spend this much for a one night stay.

When checking in we were not greeted, given a map, told where our room was, pool hours or the restaurants...on top of that they had a problem with the Expedia payment. Eli at the front desk and Ryan at the rafters bar were the only nice and helpful staff members. The property only had one elevator at the check in which made access very limited and inconvenient when traveling with kids and strollers. The breakfast was very overpriced, the French toast sticks were delicious but not for $21 per person. The sweet chili wings at the bar were very good but again expensive. The indoor pool was lacking but ok. We did enjoy walking outside but the access was horrible, we had to lift the stroller up and down stairs just to get to the grounds outside and enjoy the dock. The ice machines were far and few between, the one closest to us was filthy and leaking. We were disappointed that the arcade couldn't be accessed when the water park was closed, the hours were not told to us and we missed out on the waterpaerk for the last day. We would have planned accordingly had we known, the book in the hotel room did not have the hours. Also a safety concern...we went to the water park and realized it was closed however the doors were unlocked and anyone could access the water when no staff were there! The highchair in the restaurant had broken buckles as well, my child fell. We checked out and were not asked how the stay was or if we needed anything, I had to ask for a receipt.

Last night at dinner, first, we did not get acknowledged by our server for close to 10 minutes. Next, we ordered and it took over 45 minutes to get my food, when all I ordered was flatbread pizza. We didn’t get the beverages we ordered until right before my food came. My husband got their special, the stir fry and he was long done eating before his beverage and my food came. Then at breakfast this morning, all they had was a cheap hotel that would be free elsewhere, but cost us 18.95 each. And the eggs and potatoes were barely warm. Basically, my yogurt parfait and very small bowl of cereal was over $18. Place was fairly clean, but beds were not good. They need new mattresses and/or better quality. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed. Had heard great things about the property, but did not have that experience

Room was ready when we arrived a little early but had dirty laundry and a dirty toilet. Toilet didn't flush properly. No where to hang wet towels in room which is crazy for a place with multiple pools and a lake. Food was super expensive for the quality. Multiple lounge chairs around the pools were broken. This place could use some serious love

We had a wedding near by and half of the wedding party reserved rooms at Arrowwood. 11 days before our check in, we found out that they canceled all but two of our rooms, and that included the bride and grooms room. We would not have know if one of the brides maids hadn't check on what time we could check in. When we were checking in we found out my uncles room was not an ADA room like it should have been. The rooms looked clean but they were damp and smelt musty. Some of our party had very damp carpets and rusty mattress on the pull out bed. The staff at the check in counter were rude and talked about how difficult we were being not realizing some of our wedding party heard them as they were walking in. Was very disappointed that they did not have a complimentary breakfast. They have a restaurant but was a little too spendy to eat there for three days. This place is very outdated, and musty. The showers had no hot water which was frustrating. The only good experience we had was the bartender on Thursday, his name was Ryan and was very accommodating and was outstanding that night.

Understaffed and not knowledgeable but friendly and kind. Lake and property is lovely. Marina is fun! We rented a pontoon and took full advantage of the free kayaks and paddle boats. Quiet and peaceful. Rooms spacious but very dark and dated. In desperate need of renovation. Overall a good stay and great memories made on lake darling!

The outdoors areas are amazing. The restaurant, rooms, hallways and stairwells need a deep cleaning There were only 2 table in the restaurant and it took 40 minute to get biscuits and gravy.

Property was very clean. Staff was very pleasant but obviously inexperienced. The outdoor pool stayed a little grungy after a rain. The hot tub only had two jets working. Expedia mentioned 2 restaurants but only the outdoor one with limited menu was consistently open. Breakfast was available in main restaurant but again, staff was very pleasant but very inexperienced.

Arrowwood is a nice place to stay. Loved being on the lake. We were disappointed the dining room was not open in the evenings during the week. And other indoor dining option was only open one evening while we were there but was only serving drinks that night. So, only dining option on the property was the outside bar restaurant. Luckily the weather was nice and we did enjoy our stay overall.

Could use an upgrade of the hallways and lighting. Waterpark is awesome but not included in stay most of the time. Waterpark temp could be warmer but food was great and having it right poolside was so convenient. There is a pool that’s included with your stay if you don’t want to go to the waterpark. Couldn’t get breakfast as it wasn’t open until late morning.

Great location. Love the lake access but since our last stay about 5 years ago- looks tired and worn inside/ hallways dark/ room has some issues/ restaurant only open for breakfast. Staff was great. Outside bar grill nice but got busy and they couldn’t keep up with orders -long long wait for food/ drinks

The lake and beach area were very nice. The grounds are not maintained as well as they could be - thistles and weeds everywhere, the mini golf course that was once really cool is now run down and deteriorated. The water park is currently shut down for renovations, so hopefullybthere will be some love given to the outdoor areas soon. The room and inside areas were clean and the resort is very quiet, which is why I'm rating it 4 stars - looking forward to seeing some updates, as the Arrowwod has been the premier resort in the Alexandria area for as long as I can remember.
