Uptown Inn - Limited Service Apart-Hotel

The room was as described. Very clean and the shared kitchen was nice to have.

The property wasn’t bad; the parking was horrible, they charge per night to park onsite but offer no real alternative to parking except street parking which is at times very hard to find! There is no area to load and unload baggage at the front of the property. The staff was very friendly.

Clean and comfortable bed. Good location and assigned parking. Not the quietest place, as the hallways echo all footsteps and conversations. A rug in the hallway would do wonders.

This was a wonderful surprise. Convenient. Clean and right in Hillcrest. Right off/on to freeway, Safe parking.

Location was excellent. Parking was 25 a day:( Too much heat and room was far. Staff was very nice.

Booked a one night stay here. Front desk was helpful. Didn’t like paying for parking but that’s San Diego for you. Loved that the garage was not easy to access for outside people but the elevator took you right to it. Rooms are small but cute and good for 2 people. There’s a sink with some dishes available which was very convenient. Beds were comfortable and a/c worked great. Would stay here again.

The area is great and you can even get a parking spot for $20 but for what you pay I expect a much cleaner place. The area is very walkable, and their service itself is good, they are quick and accommodating. Just wish it was cleaner, felt they could have at least mopped and swept better. The building is a little older but you’re right in Hillcrest and next to a Whole Foods, restaurants, bars, etc.

Super clean really nice service felt super safe being there honestly loved it will be back, and their coffee machine !

Overall, the experience lives up to my expectations and hospitality needs. The staff are courteous and attentive, with the check-in/out process being smooth and efficient. My room was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. The location was convenient, offering easy access to a myriad of nearby independent or privately owned businesses.

Juat had surgary and was able to check in early, was very appreciative of that. Staff was friendly and room and hallways were clean and smelled like they were just cleaned. Sheets were soft and bed was comfortable. Only downside was there was a couple small roaches in the bathroom when i went in there once.

Super easy check in! There is a gate, and you must use your keycard to get in past a certain time. I like this sort of security. Room is clean and looks to have a newly renovated bathroom.

It’s very small, very basic, but all you need. If you’re picky/bougie don’t stay here. My room was not sparkly clean, there was hair in the shower and a used contact lens on the floor near the bed (gross). The “closet” had three plastic hangers, the bathroom is a small closet. The mini fridge worked well, as did the window a/c unit. There was no view, the window shades covered all and there was no point in opening them to look at a building. Sure, the bed was comfy, but not anything special, it just wasn’t a bad bed. Four pillows. I did appreciate the vanity mirror with a built in light. The door barely locked, a bit scary for a single woman traveler such as myself but there was no issue. There is a shared kitchen, it looked clean but I didn’t use it. This is basically a deluxe hostel, and you get what you pay for. I also liked that the people at the front desk were all friendly, and they held my luggage for me after checking out.

Make sure to book the room that is on the other side of the building otherwise road noise will kill you.. Also no heaters in the room, you need to request one if you get cold, and those heaters make noise as well, if you are light sleeper like myself, good luck..

Rooms are very clean and very small, the price was right. A/C would not go below 74 at night. Otherwise a decent place to stay

My room was on the 7th floor and VERY noisy from the major highway just behind the hotel. The windows were closed but the traffic noise came thru the window shaker. There is no free TV or I should say no network TV. I was looking forward to a Thursday night football game but no such luck. The room was clean but small. The sink was plumbed with hot water on the right & cold on the left but was easy to figure out when the hot water never got hot.

So noisy! No insulation in the walls. Hearing conversations in the hallway. And even on the 6th floor, like trying to sleep on the busy street below. Bathroom door didn't close. Overall: meh

Very comfy bed. East side of hotel is truly noisy from freeway but didn’t really bother us.

I had a short but great stay. The bed, including the pillows and sheets, were SO comfortable! I stayed on the East side but did not have any issues with the freeway noise. Light does get in around the curtains so maybe not the spot for those who need total darkness, but otherwise would definitely recommend. It was also nice to be close to many restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

The place is nice don’t get me wrong, only thing is no tv service unless you have your own Netflix, Hulu, etc. Not even just the local channels so that sucked. Also the AC is kinda weird, there’s an app involved.

There was no one there at all at reception in the morning at 6:30 I got locked out a couple of other customers were locked out of their room sleeping on couch and let me back in I almost was late for a race that I paid to be apart of

The staff here is exceptional. I had a minor problem with a crazy family member (by marriage) and the staff handled it with discretion. I really appreciate that type of customer service its invaluable.

Second year weve stayed here for an in town vaction ans it was amazing like last time. Kenji is always communicative and the hotel is in a great locstion

Highly recommend. The hotel staff is welcoming, courteous, and meets professional standards of hospitality. I plan to stay there again when visiting Hillcrest San Diego :)

Very friendly staff. Close to Whole Foods and the zoo. Very walkable. Held my luggage after I checked out so I could still explore. Would stay again for sure.

Besides a rude encounter with another guest, the staff were super nice and helpful. Room was really nice but small. Bed was amazing! Only con is I wanted to check out at 0730, and needed a receipt for work but the front desk was not open. Overall great hotel great staff.

First and foremost, be aware that this is an apartment building from floors 5 and below, and operates as a hotel on floors 6 and 7. There is construction going on and it is close to the freeway, but they provide earplugs for their guests. Honestly, it was a warm weekend and with the window A/C on, we couldn’t hear anything from the outside. There is gated assigned parking on the property for a daily fee, which is imperative as it is hard to find spaces on the street. There are no maids. Your room is up to you to clean, but you can put your trash out and they will empty it for you and the front desk will give more towels, if needed. The elevator is a little rickety, but fast. There was always someone in the hallways cleaning. They really took pride in making sure those were clean and it was obvious they cleaned and sanitized very well after the last guests. The mattresses and pillows are firm, but the comforters were very comfy. The room has a Smart TV and you can sign into all streaming services. There is a small fridge, but no microwave in the room. These are the only amenities. We booked two rooms. We had a couple inconveniences while staying. The single room was on the 6th floor and there was a pipe issue. The sink was overflowing and our guest had to not be in the room for awhile while they cleaned up. Our last night there, the fire alarm went off at 3:00 AM because someone in the building set it off, which was exhausting. They did extend our checkout time to noon.

Self check in was very inconvenient and they don't answer the phone. Front gate was locked so I was stuck outside trying to figure out how to check in

We had a wonderful stay. Ended up arriving early and they let us check in. The room had a very good AC and comfortable beds so we had the best sleep while in hot San Diego weather. The staff are so friendly and were very accommodating and quick to action when we needed anything. The rooms do get some noise from the road but they provide ear plugs so it wasn’t an issue.

Convenient of how close most places are including stores and restaurants.

I highly encourage anyone to come here. Very nice location. I had so many things near by.

Good location right in Hillcrest. Walking distance to Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo and/or short ride shares to either and, to the Port or Airport.

Room didn’t even have a chair to sit in, instead you had to sit on the bed to watch tv or anything. The bathroom was TINY. If you’re a larger person, good luck! No heat. The bad was soft and the pillows were too much. Worst of all, NO COFFEE MAKER! Not even in the kitchen on the floor where we stayed. For me, that’s the deal breaker! We need coffee in the morning!

The location is amazing if you want to stay somewhere that feels like a city. The staff is lovely and welcoming. Rooms are simple and functional, and I really appreciated the shared kitchen with coffee. I'm thinking of moving back to San Diego, and would readily stay here more long-term if I didn't have a pet.

Disappointing… there was no coffee maker or any snacks to buy.. being a new hotel, it had zero incentives.. too expensive to have nothing! There was no room service so we didn’t get clean towels. Will not be booking here again
