Beautiful hotel in a great location right on the beach. As with almost all hotels in CR, the pool is not heated and too cold even in hot weather but the proximity to the beach and ocean makes up for it. The rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained. Definitely request an upstairs room otherwise you need to keep the curtains drawn the entire time. Restaurant is high on price and moderate in quality but fine for post-beach snacks. We also did the hotel-provided boat and snorkel sunset trip which was well worth it.

Das Personal im Bosque del Mar war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Wir hatten zunächst ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss nahe des Eingangs zu Anlage und baten um eine Prüfung, ob wir nicht ein anderes Zimmer bekommen könnten. Leider klappte es nicht gleich für die erste Nacht, aber der Chef der Rezeption sorgte dafür, daß wir für die restlichen Nächte ein anderes Zimmer beziehen konnten. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber, das Reinigungspersonal arbeitet schnell und baute uns zur Begrüßung aus Handtüchern einen kleinen Schwan. Alles mit viel Liebe zum Detail. An der Rezeption konnten wir auch während des Aufenthalts sehr kurzfristig ein Kajak mieten und hatten damit gute zwei Stunden unseren Spaß beim Paddeln und Schnorcheln. Der Parkplatz befindet sich gleich gegenüber des Hotels und ist bewacht. Wir hatten zu keiner Zeit ein unsicheres Gefühl. Der Pool war kälter als der Pazifik, der Whirlpool dafür wunderbar warm. Der ganze Poolbereich ist ausreichend groß und war während unseres Aufenthalts (Ende Oktober) immer wenig besucht. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.

Our stay at Hotel Bosque del Mar was pure relaxation from start to finish. The grounds and facilities are spotless, surrounded by lush tropical greenery that makes you feel completely immersed in nature. Property was beautiful and rooms were very nice. Restaurant is very good, and bar serves happy hour every day from 5-7pm. Property is isolated from any town if you do not have a car. Beach is beautiful. They need to work on beach amenities like lounging chairs and towels which are all quite worn down. Also pool area could be kept nicer since leaves are a big problem. There is a huge potential but it needs more attention. For relaxation, it is a great place. But not much more.

We stayed at Hotel Bosque Del Mar both for one night when we first arrived in Costa Rica and on our last night. It’s about 20 minutes from the airport, but we loved the location and the amenities at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, we liked the food at the restaurant, and we enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub. Without a doubt, I would choose to stay at this hotel again as the first and last stop in Costa Rica for relatively easy access to the airport. The staff is kind and accommodating. Fantastic, all around.

We enjoyed our one week stay at Bosque Del Mar. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Diego at the front desk and Alexis and Sofi at the restaurant. We did not have a problem eating at the restaurant each day as there was a variety of selections for our family (including a very picky child) and everything was fresh and delicious. We appreciate Alexis packing us breakfast one day when we had an early pick up for our excursion. Our room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious especially the shower area. The access to the beach was a big plus as well. The pool was small but beautiful. We just hope that they change or add paddings to their lounge chairs to make them more comfortable. We liked that the hotel gave us a relaxing stay and offered easy services to explore the area. Overall we highly recommend this hotel as it added to many good memories to our first trip to Costa Rica.

Hotel Bosque del Mar is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for beauty, privacy, and great customer service. We stayed for a week, and by the end, our waiters and front desk knew us by name and room number. They made all the arrangements for tours and transportation. They have their own private beach, with lounge chairs and food/drink servers taking care of us - pool too! The rooms are immaculate, as are the grounds, with the jungle feel and only steps to the beach.Exactly as pictured. My emails were replied to promptly, and airport transportation was provided (at a fee). It was perfect for us, as we didn't need a lot of activities, but for those who do, the front desk can make arrangements. A special shout out to Roylan Perez who took personal care of us from the moment we landed. Highly recommend! Thank you and Pura Vida!

The hotel property is beautiful, but the hotel lacks some very basic things, which did not make it worth the money in my opinion. No umbrellas or shades in the beach (they rely on shade by trees, which did not always work and had all guests pulling chairs around), very narrow beach access next to a public beach entrance with lots of people. The pool did not have lights (inside the pool or in the surrounding area) making it difficult to use at night. There was not wet bar/snack area....there is only one restaurant (main floor) and one bar area (second floor) but neither allow swimsuits and there was no service by the pool. This kind of broke our day because we had to dress up to have lunch in the middle of the day. The safe in the room did not work and it took two calls for staff to tell us it was the batteries that often run out and they ended up giving us a key instead of using the code option. The hotel did not include breakfast and there was no bottled water provided like other hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. The a/c unit was loud and seemed to take a long time to cool. There were monkeys climbing trees over the pool area right outside the rooms. It was fun for the kids, but these are howling monkeys super loud as early as 4am and it made me thing they probably were pooping into the pool. So fun, but not in a practical sense. Other than this, we enjoyed free parking across the street and the convenience of a smaller boutique hotel right next to the beach (steps away).

Bosque del Mar has potential but missed the mark. The prices were outrageous for low season; the hotel was dead. The restaurant we didn’t bother with because the food looked below average. Playa hermosa is very sleepy town and most places closed for low season. Went into Coco daily for food. Beach was nice, but we left most days to check out other beaches. Pool needs to be cleaned throughout the day with a net because of bugs, leaves, etc. Stayed in the Opone suite which was nice but not worth the extra money; no beach view. Shares patio with other Opome suite which was fine. 804 looked nicer than our room 803. Definitely need a car to get around the area. Wouldn’t be back… will stay in Coco or Tamarindo.

Beautiful clean well maintained resort. Great food that was reasonably priced. A few steps from the beach. Free monitored parking adjacent. 2 for 1 happy hour. Wifi even on beach. Room was fairly new and AC unit was whisper quiet in low setting. Saw monkeys on property one morning. Will stay again!

This place is amazing. We stayed on the second floor and had a huge picture window to look out onto the beautiful property. Huge trees with tonnes of plants form a mini rain forest. The water is calm and clear and great for swimming. The staff were kind and helpful. Our room and the ground were very clean and the ac worked. I added a photo that shows the view from our couch. This place is amazing. We stayed on the second floor and had a huge picture window to look out onto the beautiful property. Huge trees with tonnes of plants form a mini rain forest. The water is calm and clear and great for swimming. The staff were kind and helpful. Our room and the ground were very clean and the ac worked. I added a photo that shows the view from our couch. Food was great, recommend the fish tacos!

Bryan did a great job as my concierge. Was only at the hotel for two nights. Staff is extremely friendly and the location is safe. My only negative is I wish my room was facing the ocean, I would prefer blinds instead of the curtains they had. They are either all open or all closed no middle option. People could see right into my room. The restaurant at the resort is very nice and the food is fresh and tasty. However unfortunately there were cockroaches on the floor of the restaurant when I ate dinner. I would also recommend trying to eat at other beaches like coco, the restaurants around playa hermosa are overpriced

Our room entry was mildewy and this smell went into every piece of clothing I had and I had sinus issues upon returning. I would notice it when I walked in but then I got used to it so it didnt bother me. I was just there for 1 night or I would have requested a room change. This was obvious and something anyone working there would notice upon entering. I had a ground floor unit and it was nicely appointed but the sliding door had no screen so it had to be kept closed. There were floor to ceiling windows which sounds amazing... but the heavy blackout drapes were required to be kept closed all the time because anyone passing by could see into the room. That wasn't ideal. The pool was beautiful but didn't have any sun on it at any point of the day. The staff were terrific and the food was very good. There was live music for a Sunday brunch which was very nice. The direct access to the beach is very nice but the outdoor chaise chairs were quite tired. It was quite expensive and needed some updating.

Beautiful hotel in a great location right on the beach. As with almost all hotels in CR, the pool is not heated and too cold even in hot weather but the proximity to the beach and ocean makes up for it. The rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained. Definitely request an upstairs room otherwise you need to keep the curtains drawn the entire time. Restaurant is high on price and moderate in quality but fine for post-beach snacks. We also did the hotel-provided boat and snorkel sunset trip which was well worth it.

This review is specific to room 705 at the resort. If you visit here and they want to put you in that room, politely decline as it faces the lobby, dining room, and the bar area. You are unable to sit out on your terrace for morning coffee, or to relax after a day on the beach or exploring. The bedroom had 3 two sides of floor to ceiling glass People can literally look into your room from the bar restaurant and lobby if you had the curtains open. It is also along the foot path that every single person has to traverse in order to get to their room, so probably the noisiest room there. The rest of the resort was great. The people were friendly and accommodating, but that room in particular was not a garden view . room .

We had the oceanfront room and it was great. Very spacious with a separate room with sofa bed. The room was large with a huge balcony. There was a very comfortable double lounger on the balcony which was great for lounging and enjoying the view through the trees and listening to the surf. The balcony could have used an additional sitting area with small table. The bathroom can be fully opened with a curtain on the outside and bathtub essentially outside on the deck. Kind of cool but also a bit inconvenient to have to close the curtain on the outside for bathroom privacy. We did try the tub open to the outside which was nice but not really private. The hotel grounds are small so no opportunity to enjoy resort type grounds. The beach was nice. It’s a mile long so you can walk for quite a while. There were loungers always available and plenty of trees to provide shade. There are a few beach vendors who will approach you but most are polite and accept a no gracias and move on. There are also people selling tours but we didn’t partake in any. The restaurant was good but a bit expensive. It’s open air so flys were a nuisance at times. We saw monkeys on 4 occasions over 4 days which was a treat. There were also some iguanas and a nice bird that visits the restaurant. We only visited the bar once on happy hour and had a good piña colada. Overall a good stay but a little on the expensive side. We stayed in a regular room the last night which was just average, recommend the oceanfront.

Lovely staff at this hotel and the location on the beach was great. We could hear the waves from the room and the balcony had a beautiful view. The room was quite dated and run down though. The hot tub was so old I did not want to use it and the beds were not at all comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was good but the drinks at happy hour were not!! It was quite expensive to stay relative to other hotels we stayed in and the room felt a little run down which is a shame as it is a great location and the staff are brilliant.

Beautiful property and rooms! We had a family suite and it was spacious and comfortable. Really nice hotel with a stunning beach. Also really close to the airport which was super convenient for our last night in Costa Rica.

We've stayed here several times because it's a decent beach near the airport. The grounds are beautiful. The hot tub is not hot. The yoga class was nice. The music in the restaurant is horrible. I'd rather listen to the ocean waves than elevator music. Also they need new curtains. Sheer curtains where you can see out, they have these heavy blinds that cover the entire wall.

Everything stood out for me: All staff were incredibly happy and helpful. The property is a boutique hotel located on Playa Hermosa beach (perfect waves for kids without getting thrashed around). The rooms are meticulously kept, the pool is surrounded by lush tropical greenery with a troop of howler monkeys that call it home. This property is also perfect for those who require a levelled hotel with no inclines. It took 10 seconds to the pool, 10 seconds to reception & restaurant, and 10 seconds to the beach. This property is best for those looking to unwind and relax, even with kids. There is no swim up bar so it’s not suited for parties. The staff were happy to deliver food and drinks no matter where we were located. An absolute gem!

This is a great property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is super helpful with special call out to Diego who helped us find surfing lessons in Tamarindo on our last day at the last minute! We loved our stay here. I highly recommend it. I would say just a smidge pricey for not including breakfast...but all in all, no complaints!

We stayed at Hotel Bosque Del Mar both for one night when we first arrived in Costa Rica and on our last night. It’s about 20 minutes from the airport, but we loved the location and the amenities at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, we liked the food at the restaurant, and we enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub. Without a doubt, I would choose to stay at this hotel again as the first and last stop in Costa Rica for relatively easy access to the airport. The staff is kind and accommodating. Fantastic, all around.

We never stayed at the property as we were forced to cancel, as our incoming flight was cancelled due to runway problems at the Liberia Airport. Considering the circumstances, and the fact we cancelled as soon as the airport problems were known, we had expected the hotel to give us at least a partial refund. After all, their policy calls for the possibility of some discretion. Unfortunately, the hotel has stonewalled giving any refund for our booked seven day stay. We consider their position to be unreasonable.

When we checked in we were told about what was included in hotel stay nor were we offered the amenities we saw other guests received later on the week. We checked in on the 15th before 7pm so reasonable time. I think what is included in our hotel stat the day we check in is more important than tours offered by the hotel. We would be told certain things requested would be done by the time we returned but it was not, we always had to ask again. It would be done always graciously but always had to ask a second time. Must say Roland was extremely helpful and great asset to the hotel. He should be put on your list of staff to promote. Most of other staff were extremely helful. Having the beach right there was a great plus. Thank you.

Hotel Bosque del Mar is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for beauty, privacy, and great customer service. We stayed for a week, and by the end, our waiters and front desk knew us by name and room number. They made all the arrangements for tours and transportation. They have their own private beach, with lounge chairs and food/drink servers taking care of us - pool too! The rooms are immaculate, as are the grounds, with the jungle feel and only steps to the beach.Exactly as pictured. My emails were replied to promptly, and airport transportation was provided (at a fee). It was perfect for us, as we didn't need a lot of activities, but for those who do, the front desk can make arrangements. A special shout out to Roylan Perez who took personal care of us from the moment we landed. Highly recommend! Thank you and Pura Vida!

The hotel property is beautiful, but the hotel lacks some very basic things, which did not make it worth the money in my opinion. No umbrellas or shades in the beach (they rely on shade by trees, which did not always work and had all guests pulling chairs around), very narrow beach access next to a public beach entrance with lots of people. The pool did not have lights (inside the pool or in the surrounding area) making it difficult to use at night. There was not wet bar/snack area....there is only one restaurant (main floor) and one bar area (second floor) but neither allow swimsuits and there was no service by the pool. This kind of broke our day because we had to dress up to have lunch in the middle of the day. The safe in the room did not work and it took two calls for staff to tell us it was the batteries that often run out and they ended up giving us a key instead of using the code option. The hotel did not include breakfast and there was no bottled water provided like other hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. The a/c unit was loud and seemed to take a long time to cool. There were monkeys climbing trees over the pool area right outside the rooms. It was fun for the kids, but these are howling monkeys super loud as early as 4am and it made me thing they probably were pooping into the pool. So fun, but not in a practical sense. Other than this, we enjoyed free parking across the street and the convenience of a smaller boutique hotel right next to the beach (steps away).

The staff was beyond helpful!! Extremely kind and accommodating. Everyone was exceptional but two people stood out: Shirley and Diego! I will definitely be back to this hidden gem of paradise!! We went with our whole family (12 people and 5 rooms) this resort gives you the best of both worlds.. walk in pool and amazing beach. The restaurant was amazing especially breakfast and as expected the coffee was delicious. I could go on and on. Great memories made and I can’t wait to go back!!

As with almost all hotels in CR, the pool is not heated and too cold even in hot weather but the proximity to the beach and ocean makes up for it. The rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained. Definitely request an upstairs room otherwise you need to keep the curtains drawn the entire time. Restaurant is high on price and moderate in quality but fine for post-beach snacks. We also did the hotel-provided boat and snorkel sunset trip which was well worth it.

This was a great place to stay on a very nice beach. The room was very nice. Pool was ok but also kinda what we expected, still refreshing at 85 degrees. Same temp as the ocean. The sand is scorching hot so wear sandals. We walked down the beach to other restaurants for dinners because the food was better / different. Pitch black walk on the beach was interesting and the “path” was also oddly populated with people in the dark.

Hidden gem in Playa Hermosa. Maybe the closest beachfront hotel to LIR airport (30 min). But when you arrive, it is like walking into Jurassic Park with all the mature trees and lush, tropical landscaping flowers. Checkin was fast and efficient. Manager took our luggage to the room which was a short, well-lit paved path from the lobby. Ample parking in a 247 guarded lot directly across road. Very secluded area. No other hotels or restaurants immediately nearby. That would be the only negative but a short drive or wade thru a shallow creek emptying to the beach puts you in mid-town Playa Hermosa with lots of pizza joints etc. We opted for eating at their restaurant. Simply divine cuisine. Prices like US but worth it. Watched the sunset before dinner next floor up. Banana daquiri with dark flor de cana rum, yumm yumm yumm. My better half enjoyed a strawberry mojito faster than I’ve ever seen her toma una bebida. Music at the bar and restaurant was a nice mix, not boom-boom loud and easy to talk over while hearing an instrumental of Hotel California etc. Family friendly area. Beach is gentle waves in a protected cove (pic from hotel). Soft white sand beach, good clarity despite recent storms, stays shallow for ~100’ from the beach. Had a nice long swim and considered a late night dip in the 24 hr pool and hot tub but we were flying out early the next am. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Bosque Del Mar both for one night when we first arrived in Costa Rica and on our last night. It’s about 20 minutes from the airport, but we loved the location and the amenities at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, we liked the food at the restaurant, and we enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub. Without a doubt, I would choose to stay at this hotel again as the first and last stop in Costa Rica for relatively easy access to the airport. The staff is kind and accommodating. Fantastic, all around.

Beautiful property located right on the playa hermosa beach. There were iguanas everywhere, very cool! The water was amazing. The staff was so kind. The rooms were clean. Food was delicious, though a bit spendy. Would definitely come back.

We would definitely come back here again . We had ocean view which was amazing and peaceful . Staff was amazing . Booked tours for us and gave great recommendations. Everyone always happy ;) I feel it was one of the best locations to stay at . We journeyed north and south for things to do so it felt perfectly located

Close to the beach ! Clean rooms and good service. Restaurant is good but choices are limited and expensive. Location is not ideal and we had to go to playa del coco for food. Couple of minor issues that did not bother us is they had water issues for like 30 mins and power went off in the middle of the night for like 10 mins.

The staff is so friendly and helpful. The property is clean and in a fantastic location. We were literally on the beach in one hour after landing in Liberia. We have already booked a return trip to Hotel Bosque.

Great hotel with a friendly staff. It was a very comfortable stay. This part of the beach is the absolute cleanest along all of this section. I always find the food a bit expensive at these places, $24 for a burger. However, it was of good quality. A walk over to the next street will find you a grocery store and adjoined sopa with cheaper options.

The pictures of this hotel do not do it justice. The cove is beautiful, the design of the rooms is so lux, and views are remarkable. The food and drinks were a bit too pricey, but there is a grocery store nearby and there are some cheaper dining options down the beach. I would come back to this hotel every year if I could. So unique!

We had the oceanfront room and it was great. Very spacious with a separate room with sofa bed. The room was large with a huge balcony. There was a very comfortable double lounger on the balcony which was great for lounging and enjoying the view through the trees and listening to the surf. The balcony could have used an additional sitting area with small table. The bathroom can be fully opened with a curtain on the outside and bathtub essentially outside on the deck. Kind of cool but also a bit inconvenient to have to close the curtain on the outside for bathroom privacy. We did try the tub open to the outside which was nice but not really private. The hotel grounds are small so no opportunity to enjoy resort type grounds. The beach was nice. It’s a mile long so you can walk for quite a while. There were loungers always available and plenty of trees to provide shade. There are a few beach vendors who will approach you but most are polite and accept a no gracias and move on. There are also people selling tours but we didn’t partake in any. The restaurant was good but a bit expensive. It’s open air so flys were a nuisance at times. We saw monkeys on 4 occasions over 4 days which was a treat. There were also some iguanas and a nice bird that visits the restaurant. We only visited the bar once on happy hour and had a good piña colada. Overall a good stay but a little on the expensive side. We stayed in a regular room the last night which was just average, recommend the oceanfront.

An amazing, sleekly designed hotel built within a gorgeous jungle, and on one of the best beaches in Guanacaste. There's a lot to love here, the suites are nice, the grounds are beautiful. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable and helpful. You won't want to leave this place, except you'll have to because of the one major flaw: the restaurant. It is so bad (though breakfast is fine) that you will need to leave the property for lunch and dinner every day. The options near the hotel are very limited and for anything really good you'll need to use the car, which you better have rented. The restaurant's problems stem from the management company, not the chef. This is obvious from the the ludicrous menu. Dishes range from Greek to Italian to Thai to French to Indian, to steak and beyond, get the picture? No good restaurant every has options that varied. Everything is over seasoned and tastes like it was in a freezer moments before you ate it. AND it's all very expensive, by any standard anywhere in the world. A totally new menu/vision is needed. The restaurant is the only thing holding this hotel back from becoming the 4 star destination it should be.

Beautiful hotel, we loved the combination of being right on the beach while also being in what felt like a more natural landscape. We saw iguanas and about 6 howler monkeys right above the pool! Restaurant/bar was excellent, great breakfast and good happy hour specials. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our one week stay at Bosque Del Mar. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Diego at the front desk and Alexis and Sofi at the restaurant. We did not have a problem eating at the restaurant each day as there was a variety of selections for our family (including a very picky child) and everything was fresh and delicious. We appreciate Alexis packing us breakfast one day when we had an early pick up for our excursion. Our room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious especially the shower area. The access to the beach was a big plus as well. The pool was small but beautiful. We just hope that they change or add paddings to their lounge chairs to make them more comfortable. We liked that the hotel gave us a relaxing stay and offered easy services to explore the area. Overall we highly recommend this hotel as it added to many good memories to our first trip to Costa Rica.

The hotel is in a beautifully designed tropical garden. The room was very well maintained and beautiful. What impressed me most was that they provided glass water bottles, and the housekeeping filled them with filtered water for you. You can refill them yourself too. All the staff were smiley, warm, and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious (not included in the fee). The air conditioning in the room was good. The ocean view was great and easy to swim and the swimming pool were beautiful as well. The only shortcoming is that the swimming pool is a bit tiny. It is good for small kids, but not really suitable for swimming. The jacuzzi next to the pool was set to be lukewarm rather than hot. It'd be perfect if the hotel provided more activities or services probably. (The pool table was the only activity and we did enjoy it) However, we did enjoy the pool with a monkey family of eight howling on top of us everyday, which was so much fun! We also met many animals around the hotel, including iguanas, different kinds of birds, raccoons, and monkeys. The location of this hotel is quite isolated, so there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance to hang out at. Luckily, the hotel itself is good enough for us to hang out there most of the time. Overall, I really loved this hotel: the design, the ambiance, the vibes, the quality, and the staff.

We stayed in the Nyuri Suite for 4 nights. The suite is huge, clean and well air conditioned. We brought our teenager and had his own room queen bed and bathroom within the suite. We had a king bed and a huge bathroom. The suite had 2 large decks that overlooked the beach and many beautiful large trees. The food at the hotel was fantastic! We enjoyed many meals there, including several on the beach. There is food and drink service on the beach from the hotel. The pool at the hotel was very pretty and clean and more refreshing than the ocean. The best part of this wonderful hotel was its staff. Everyone we encountered was warm, friendly and helpful. After staying here for several days we had felt we had made new friends with the staff. Such nice people!

The restaurant and view from the table was amazing, especially at sunset. The room was great, however we were not able to get the Android TV to work at all, it seemed out of date with too old software. The pool was a bit smaller then we expected.

The hotel is in a fantastic beach side location and is very well designed. When we booked, everything looked so serene and our experience of the hotel, facilities and service was excellent. The only thing to be really aware of is many of the rooms overlook the small pool and during our stay, this was used by very noisy children from 7.30am to 9.30pm so it wasn't really possible to relax in the room without interruption from screaming children. We're from a generation where we were taught to play quietly but these days, parental control is completely lacking and spoiled our enjoyment of the hotel. Next time, we'll specifically choose and adults only place and we did ask the hotel to perhaps impose noise rules on the pool early morning and late evenings. Cannot fault the hotel at all so 5 stars all round.
