No facilities, but reasonable price, the decoration is more like the 60s and 70s

Hotel was poorly staffed making check in difficult. Appears manager didn’t properly staff hotel when employees were ill. Room was not very clean. Broken lights in parking lot.

Overpriced for a basic hotel. (No pool Or gym)

Run down…smelly….no lighting in parking lots…

Guest laundry area was a mess and the washer and dryer were jammed in a small space not even leveled for usage

I have stayed here before the pandemic. They have done some renovations. It looks very nice. Beds are comfy. Breakfast options are great. For the price, it’s the best hotel around. The staff was very friendly. Will come again.

The room had a bad odor. The mattress was way too soft for my liking. No workout room. On the plus side, the staff was very friendly.

Nice place to stay clean and nice staff had laundry which came in handy for us on bikes and restaurant right across the street close to shopping also

The hotel is easily accessible off Route 295, and close to downtown Freeport and Portland. Price was reasonable. The buildings are fine, all one-story and handicap accessible. Plenty of parking. However, the office is NOT marked, and very difficult to find in the dark. The overgrown/dying grass and shrubs around the buildings were very disconcerting (although we have had a long bout of very dry weather). The room was incredibly clean. Bed was extremely comfortable. Towels were rough, although pretty much standard hotel quality. The shower pressure and warm water were super. That said, there was an overwhelming smell of bleach in the room.That was not so pleasant. Breakfast was included, but I chose to sleep longer. All in all, I would stay again.

The Freeport Ascend Hotel was just okay. Nothing exceptional about the facilities or staff. It was nice that all rooms were on first floor snd there was plenty of parking. Bed was comfortable, but pillows were like the size of a throw pillow and very uncomfortable. The free breakfast looked pretty mediocre at best. I went with a cup of yogurt and banana. Nothing friendly about staff. Just a blah attitude about having to be inconvenienced by a guest checking in or.

The hallway was flooded and they threw a small towel over it all day, mold smell everywhere, very damp in hallways and room. Paper thin walls - very noisy impossible to sleep.

This hotel was in bad shape overall, and the room was old, worn out, and not that clean. It is hard to clean a decrepit place, so I am not critical of the cleaning staff.

Never have I given such a low rating to an establishment that I booked through Expedia. Upon entering the lobby to check in the smell of laundry detergent was extremely unpleasant. As we made our way to the counter we saw why as the door directly behind the counter was open. Staff at check in was friendly and were able to complete the transaction quickly. When we got to the parking area near our entrance we discover an out of service vehicle that hasn’t moved in a long time. Trash cans outside of the building were completely filled and running over. Entering the hallway near our room and the smell was a cross between laundry detergent and something trying to mask the smell. Our room was musty and smelled like Fritos. Bathroom was not clean with hair remaining in shower and shower curtain was moldy and stained. Carpet in room turned my socks black and needs to be shampooed or replaced. We thought about asking for another room but figured with the smell throughout the facility that we wouldn’t do any better. We chose not to partake in the “breakfast” based on the cleanliness of the facility. While pictures look good, they don’t tell a complete picture. Would not recommend.

Room dirty.furniture with broken/missing handles. Terrible smell in dark dank hallways bags of refuse lining hallways. Sheets were on bed in wrong manner (top sheet on sideways) when trying to fix we saw the mattress was dirty with what looked like possible bugs and/or residue . Food (popcorn kernels) stuck in mattress crevice . All this was pointed out to management including showing him the photos. His response was that the sheets covered the mattress implying there was no issue. We could not spend the night and lost the room fee of 245.00. Totally unacceptable conditions

There was no one at the front desk for several minutes when we arrived. The room temperature was freezing! We had to turn it up to 90’ for half hour to warm up the room. The bathroom shower curtain was stained, the shower had mold. The towels were thin and very small.

when i went to get into the shower found an opened bar of soap and an open bottle of shampoo !!!there was hair on the shower floor. There was long black hair stuck to the back of the bathroom door!!! yikes. Later found a spider in same room. That when i went back and really looked at the room and realized it probably hadn't been vacuumed in a while.

The hotel has some good features but still needs some continued renovations. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was dirty. The shower floor has clearly not been scrubbed between guests and the bathroom floor also had grit on it. There was a terrible smell in the room - was it a terrible smelling disinfectant of some sort or was it coming from the carpet? The pictures on the walls were nice but the carpet really needs to be removed from the rooms. That would go a long way towards improving the property. The included breakfast was good. There was only decaf coffee in the room (perhaps the cleaner didn't refill the Keurig pods after the last guest?) but fortunately there was real coffee at the breakfast since we had a long drive to do.

The room was filthy, the room smelled like mold/mildew. the gentleman at the desk was rude.

The hotel room was grimy with discolored carpet and dust/dirt build up on ledges. “Decorative” pillow on bed was also discolored and added to the lack of cleanliness. Overall musty smell. Was rated 7+ but closer to a 5/6.

The property is surrounded by interstate and a small highway, so while convenient it is a bit noisy .

It’s had a makeover so it looked nice. Problem is that the rooms are small and too cozy for more than one person. TV channel selection was terrible.

It was okay for just one night but the rooms were so small I would not want to spend much time there

The lobby area was nice and there are several good restaurants close by. The rooms are on the small side.

Hair clumps in the shower. Orange stains on a towel. The entire room smelled strongly of awful cleaning product. Freeway is right behind the hotel so it's very loud when you open the window.

Small but clean rooms. Was loud at night, sounded like a furnace or something. Checkout was 11:00 and someone came by at 10:15 to see when we were leaving. That was annoying.

Room was way too small for 4 people, ok for a one night stay. Coffee pot did not work and had black mold in it, no one dusts behind the microwave. Won't be back

No one is ever actually at the front desk - you have to ding the little yellow bell a number of times, or there is a phone number to call to chase someone down. When they appeared, we had obviously interrupted something important and we were a bother to deal with. We showed up at 1:30 on the off chance there was a room available - we knew we were early, but sometimes we luck out; we were told to come back after 4:00 (the Check In on the website is 3:00). We’re from Upstate New York; the woman checking us in told us she visited Manhattan once but left because there were too many Black people. 😮 🚩 The breakfast (traditional eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc… was surprisingly good. The mattresses need to be rotated - I felt like I was stuck in a ditch. The room and bathrooms were clean. This is a “manage your expectations” kind of place. Did we need a hotel room and a place to sleep? Yes. Did this fulfill that need? Yes. Will we be returning? Nope.

Extremely small room but otherwise clean and well kept.

The lobby, dining area and rooms are smaller than they appear in the photos. The rooms are clean but need a bit of maintenance. The curtain was ripped, the coffee machine didn't work, the fridge was cool not cold so I kept my milk on ice each night and the desk chair definitely need to be replaced. The staff only enters the room upon request and said that if you need any more towels or shampoo/conditioner/soap to just ask. We did ask for more supplies to which we were happily handed extras. The breakfast was ok, slightly changing each day (scrambled eggs, then an omelet, some days danishes, other days muffins instead). The tea, coffee and water and juice was available 24 hours. The staff was extremely nice. Its an acceptable place for a night or two but due to it's size, its becomes a bit tight for more than a 2 night stay. During our stay it seemed like most guests were workers who were there for an extended stay or guests stopping over for one night on their way to a different location. Downtown Freeport is about a 5 min drive from the hotel and Old Port is about 20-25 mins from the hotel.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was also good.

There was no one at the desk when it was check in time. The person who finally came was very nice and apologized. Room was fine. Breakfast was fine. It was clean. Probably won’t go back.

This property is a scam and people thinking about making a reservation here BEWARE. English is not the hotel staff’s 1st language which causes a lot of issues when problems arise. Staff member was ASLEEP in the corner when I arrived with my family at 11:30pm to check in on a Friday night. This hotel is a scam and should be avoided at all costs.

Property owners and receptionist are friendly and good attitude.

Initially we had a problem with the room, but the manager helped us immediately. Very professional.

The staff checking us in were poorly trained. They didn't even know they were part of the Ascend franchise and sent us next door! When we returned, they wanted me to pay and I showed them my confirmation that I had already paid. They suggested I use another card to charge my stay. They furtively searched the screen looking for help. After 20 minutes they said we could go to our room. Not a welcoming experience!

Desk staff was sullen, almost to the point of hostile.

Easy to access from I-95. Front desk clerk was rather low-energy, but the cleaning staff gent who noticed that we were waiting for her to return to the desk was johnny in the spot tracking her down for us.

Excellent location; only a 5 minute drive to downtown Freeport and right across the street from Maine Beer Company. Breakfast was great, and the room was very nice! No complaints, our weekend was great!

This hotel was a nice stay for 2 nights while we visited the area. It was fairly inexpensive, clean and convenient location to Freeport. It backs up to the freeway which was quiet the first night (Sunday) but could here the work traffic on a weekday. Wasn’t too loud though that it would wake me up. Nice beds and really nice, big walk in shower. Fridge and microwave in room. The only complaint we have is the continental breakfast was lacking. The egg options on both days were on the dry side. Nothing spectacular about the offerings just the minimum. Free breakfast and free parking was a perk though among hotels on the east coast. Easy and short drive to either Portland or north towards Brunswick or Bar Harbour areas.

Seems to be newly renovated. Great little place to stay near shopping and restaurants! Also easy access on and off the highway.

Convenient to shopping and interstate

Basic hotel, but it was clean and comfortable! I liked the decor a lot compared to chain hotels and felt right at home. You can hear the highway but it wasn’t too bad. Overall, very good experience!

My wife and I were traveling through several states. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We stayed a couple of nights. The staff was especially helpful throughout our stay. We would stay here again. Location is key to shopping, the highway a supermarket, and other small shops.

Very convenient location.

The room was great and very convenient to downtown Freeport. Loved the shower! My only complaint was that breakfast was served til 10:00, but arriving at 8:30 one day and 9:00 another, there was no hot food available (ie. eggs, bacon, sausage-the containers were all empty and no attendant to fill in). There was adequate cereal and cold eggs, but it would have been nice to have hot food options. Other than that it was a nice stay!

There was a strong bleach odor in the hallways and the complimentary breakfast was not edible. The sausage and eggs appeared to have been steamed rather than cooked and appeared recycled from prior morning/s. Checkin process was extremely slow.

Hotel was adequate for our needs. Room was clean. Breakfast was fine. Their was a very very strong deodorizer smell in the halls. It was so strong, it made one think they were trying to cover up another smell. Otherwise, good stay.

Worst hotel experience in my life. As we arrived, the parking lot was being re-surfaced, tar everywhere. The breakfast was terrible, ice cold eggs,lukewarm sauces and the pancake making device did no work. Checked out early after second night. The Clark on duty was unable to print out a receipt or to explain why that was the case

Breakfast was better than most free breakfast options. Hotel had a chemical cleaner smell in the hall way which was unappealing for us. Room was clean and comfortable but towels were tiny and thin.

Everything was pretty good except the breakfast options were not that great. The Coffee machine was not working and this caused a lot of people standing in the way of getting food waiting for the temporary Keurig coffee maker. I recommend a backup coffee machine and better food options.

Room was okay. Furniture needs to be modernized. Bathroom nicely renovated. Included breakfast awful.
