The Econolodge of Marion is the sole survivor of the 1970’s. It is definitely an old property. I didn’t use the pool, the hot tub was broken. The pool area is not air conditioned. Not good for summer weather but probably pretty amazing in winter. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was worth the extra savings as I am on a budget and was just in town for hiking in the Shawnee forest. If you are a delicate flower, this is not the inn for you. If not, it’s worth the extra money saved.

This place is terrible. The non-smoking room smells like cigarette so bad we were gagging in it. The floors were greasy, uneven and ruined, the deadbolt for the room didn’t work! So we had a poorly added chain lock for our room. There were drug addicts running around the hall, the walls of the room were full of holes and horribly done patches. The bed was literal springs, the pillows were flat beyond belief. The pool and hot tub were out of order. They don’t give you soaps for the shower. The bathroom sink was dirty and broken. We didn’t even bother trying the shower. The AC unit created humidity all night and this clanking noise that wouldn’t stop. Dogs were barking and scratching at doors. We were never given the Wi-Fi password or told when breakfast would be or how to use any facilities. We felt unsafe here. If it wasn’t after midnight, and we didn’t drive 9 hours, we would have left IMMEDIATELY.

They didn’t have a hot tub as mentioned. The bar that they claimed to have was just beer being sold out of a cooler from behind the counter where you checked in. Roaches everywhere. Dirty floors. Swimming pool was dirty and we had to switch rooms because there was no tv in our room.

Unfortunately, there is a really strong smell that hits you when you walk in. The place is dirty and when I went to both of the rooms I rented I found a used bandage and roaches in the fridge. In my in-laws room they were roach and rat sticky traps on the floor, the inside of the microwave was dirty, the bed sheets had cigarettes burns on them. Both rooms had a very strong odor that just left me nauseous and with a bad headache. I tried to clean both rooms as much as possible because I had not only my in-laws with me but my 3 year old child. Will definitely not be staying again. One night was more than enough.

The room was clearly not cleaned. There was hair all over the sink, toilet and floor. The toilet seat wasn’t even the right size of lid. There were flies and other dead insects. The sheets hadn’t been changed. There was no air conditioner in the building. The one in our room only worked part time. The smell was horrible. This is defiantly not a hotel we will ever stay at again! To top it all off there was pre let in a bucket in room!! Gross!!!

This place seriously needs to be inspected. I travel for work and stay at low tier hotels weekly, this one is not just bad it’s terrible, mice in the rooms, stench is awful, garbage in hallways. Mold on walls, noisy all night. I stayed here one night and you would genuinely have to pay me to sleep here again. STATE OF ILLINOIS GO INSPECT THIS PLACE.

We left after going to our room. Place was dirty. Not crumbs on floor but burn down room dirty. I told them we couldn't stay and the room was not as advertised on-line by any means. Id definitely sleep in my car before this room.

The rooms were dirty carpets basically destroyed with so many stains and things stuck in them. We found ants in one of our rooms and used needles in a cup left from the last occupant that the maids didn’t even see. Definitely the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE KIDS. You can find a cheaper hotel and one in better condition. Not worth the price at all!! TERRIBLE!!

The room was clean, newer flooring… Emergency exits were chained and padlocked shut. The hot tub didn’t function properly(the spa/jets couldn’t be turned on) the hot tub was dirty discolored and half full. The room door didn’t have a chain lock or deadbolt to lock for a secondary safety feature. The conjoining room door was damaged and the furniture was torn up and the mattress was lumpy where springs were trying to pop through the fabric and my sheets had cigarette burns through them. The bathroom door was shoved open and stuck under the shower curtain rod and after you got it in wedged from there was stuck by the toilet…. I’d say this hotel has much potential it just needs a safety inspection to go through and detail what needs changed, maintenance, and a good facelift…

The room smelled like a dirty old basement and it stayed so wet in the room that my 3 year grandson is bruised and scrapped from just walking and slipping on the damp fllors. When I checked in the lobby was filled with smoke from people standing around smoking and gambling. The girl was nice and courteous and check in was a breeze. When I went to the room I was hit with a stale Oder, the bed linens were stained and had smoke burns in a non smoking room. There were also cockroaches in the bathroom and on the wall. We got moved to another room but it was just as bad. Someone was up all night making noise banging and filling something around stomping, we got up and left after a few hours. I would not recommend staying there unless you get so drunk you won’t care.

HORRIBLE!!! RUN!! Rm 304 dirty tooth brushes on the floor, no pillow cases, ink drawings on the sheets and shades, chunky dark marks and debris on the blankets, not cleaned or vacuumed. Changed room to 124, the adjoining door on our side was missing! Um hello code violation! Not to mention the next room could open their side and come on in! So disgusted WE LEFT!

The first room they put me in stunk, so I had to be moved, the only thing in this hotel that is air conditioned is the rooms, the rest of it is hot, stuffy, and smells bad, the pool looks unhealthy, that water does not look right, this is a horrible hotel and would never recommend it to anyone

The room, hall, lobby, and public areas a clean. The lobby was smelly, but it was raining and the smokers from the sidewalk were not far away. I really enjoyed the pool, nice and warm. The breakfast was minimal, we enjoyed the waffles. I would stay here again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Nicky was very helpful at check in. I love that they fulfilled my request for a first floor room if the elevator not working, which is wasn't. My problem was that there was no chair in my room. I requested twice, once at the check in desk after Nicky had left, and again of the housekeeper the next morning and both assured me it would be taken care of. It wasn't. Having to sit in or on the edge of the bed is extremely uncomfortable for me. I tried being out of my room as much as possible with activities but I still had to sit while winding down after busy days and in the morning waiting to start my day and eating breakfast.

AC in the buildings didn’t work, the vents were covered in dirt and there was pens and pencil stuck in it. The front desk receptionist was using drugs while we were trying to check-in. Super dirty and the smell was disgusting. There wasn’t a single corner of the hotel that was clean. I couldn’t even stay the night, as soon as I walked in I took my stuff and left.

Quite possibly the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room didn’t have towels and when the towels were delivered there was one blood stained. We had an adjoining room and our room didn’t actually have a door, the adjoining could have just walked into our room, 109. The only positive was the front desk was more than accommodating and very friendly.

We had an adjoining room and our room didn’t actually have a door, the adjoining could have just walked into our room, 109. The only positive was the front desk was more than accommodating and very friendly.

The clerk at the desk loudly announced my room number in front of a male guest who I did not know. That is not safe for solo travelers, really ANY traveler, but especially women. When I told her she shouldn’t do that, she said “well that’s what we always do”. The entire hallway smelled like stale ashtray. There were what looked like cigarette burns on the toilet seat. The back of the bathroom door had layers of its veneer peeling off. I struggled to close the curtains but finally got them closed. The adjacent neighbors were fighting or dying of emphysema cough until late into the night. The hot tub was not open, and that’s a main reason I booked there. One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

It wasnt very clean, outdated, scary neighborhood. It appeared that people lived at the hotel. Very small TV with very fuzzy picture. Not a very nice place to stay. We didnt feel safe.

The staff was friendly and nice. The property was in rough shape. The parking was full of trash. Everything worked hot water and wifi but the place was neglected. No screens withwindows left open, broken trim dirt and grime scratched dirty furniture. There was a pool but hot tub was drained. Residents were fighting at night and running around the halls. Several roaches spotted in the stairwells. Breakfast was okay but very few choices missing any fruit or juice. Only waffles biscuit toast and cereal and only coffee to drink. This hotel could be improved if some minimal maintenance and cleaning. the sheets were clean but nothing else was mattresses were dirty and cigarette holes in the comforter . The hallway carpets had huge stains.

Smell of weed throughout the hallways. Littered with homeless people essentially. If you have kids, I would not recommend. If you are bringing a girl, I would not recommend. Solo Guy?….maybe bring a gun.

Always like to stay here when visiting my daughter's family. Staff is friendly though some more helpful than others. Facilities are old and could benefit from update but it's always clean. Would have preferred not risking a fall in the parking lot due to the ice that wasn't cleared away from the recent storms. Dreading packing my car for the same reason when I check out since another one storm came through (the reason I stayed) and nothing was plowed or cleared.

The room, hall, lobby, and public areas a clean. The lobby was smelly, but it was raining and the smokers from the sidewalk were not far away. I really enjoyed the pool, nice and warm. The breakfast was minimal, we enjoyed the waffles. I would stay here again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I was rented a rented room for starters. Second room most things didn't work. Third room was freezing and took forever to warm enough to take my coat off. Breakfast was terrible too. Will never stay at this place again

I chose this hotel because it had a hot tub and the rates were very reasonable. After a long day on the road, I was needing a hot soak to relax before bed. The hot tub was out of service. Room was clean. Breakfast was carbs only, no eggs, meat, fruit or dairy (ex milk for cereal). Parking lot need a good cleaning, trash strewn about, and some yard maintenance, weeds. Not bad for the price.

Dirty, noisy, breakfast pretty much inexistant. Pool was cold, bathrooms out of service, the whole place is a hodge podge of nasty smells. Found a dead flee in the bed. Nothing good to report.

There are people actually living in this “hotel”. We didn’t have an alarm clock or a working hair dryer. The pool and hot tub smelled of methane and sewer water, our eyes were swollen and pink after using them. A couple doors down from us someone was using a stick to keep anyone from coming through her window. ITS AWFUL AWFUL!

I wanted to give this property the benefit of the doubt but when my husband and I got there, it was terrible. The location is awful, the outside and the inside were both dirty. The room was nasty and when checking over the room, there were multiple wigs, condoms, and even found a white substance in a bag (which I’m assuming is drugs) inside the phone book in the room. We immediately carried our things back to our vehicle and my husband went to the front desk to notify them of the items found and requested our money back. They assured us that we would receive a refund in 2-3 days and it’s almost been a week now and still no refund. Do not waste your money on this place!!
