It's average at best. Staff was nice. Stayed here years ago when it was a Marriott. It is a shell of it's former self. No dining options, no bar. Pool was clean but chairs around the pool needed to be cleaned up. Hot tub didn't function properly. Just doesn't feel like like a hotel, it is more like a motel. For what I paid, won't be going back.

The property was very clean. Loved the indoor, outdoor pool. Pool also very clean. Hot tub was great, very nice and warm. Had penty of seating outside. Bed and pillows slightly uncomfortable. Didnt have a restaurant to buy any food. Had to go in my car and fine somewhere for at least a sandwitch. But over all very nice hotel.

Overall, nice hotel. Location was close to groceries and restaurants so very convenient. The property itself was undergoing renovation on the pool area so the pool was unable to be used. Property seems on the older side so can see wear and tear throughout. Provide limited breakfast and had to purchase the breakfast items. Gym is available and was easy to access but only had basic and limited equipment. Room was big, clean, quiet, overall comfortable. Staff seems reduced at the time of visit so experienced some wait times for a front desk personnel to appear to assist. When assisted, staff was generally respectful and provided friendly service.

Overall the hotel was clean and updated. Nothing exciting when you pull up and no sign on the actual building. Only one elevator and it is located a distance from the lobby so if you have physical limitations it may not be the place for you. Also they charged us $5 per day to park in their own hotel parking lot!!!! This I thought was absolutely ridiculous as it is their own lot and we paid to stay in the hotel.

Don't trust the photos. The place is way more run down, than you expect. And the bathroom won't match what the photo is when you book it. When turning on the bathtub faucet, you may notice the water runs Brown. I wouldn't drink it, but it seems safe to shower in. There was also no remote in our room, and we had to go get one from the front desk.

I liked this hotel for the location. I booked a room for 5 people and there was 2 beds and no sleep sofa. Asked for a cot and was told there aren’t any so had to go to Walmart and buy a blow up mattress.

I reserved two rooms. When we arrived the check-in was smooth but: The clerk didn't tell me that my room was upgraded (I know under my request but I didn't receive any confirmation previously) 1. The clerk charged us for a different rate room. We ignored his mistake and gave the money to our friend. 2. The bathroom wasn't clean enough and then we found hair all over. 3. He didn't explain why we didn't have service in our room, the following day, when I called to ask for room housekeeping, they told me to bring the towels and the trash to the front desk even though I explained that the housekeeper was around but told me to call the desk because she wasn't authorized to give me service. It was like a block away. I decided to keep the dirty towels. 4. They charged for very bad coffee. Don't get me wrong the staff was nice and friendly but for sure they need more training to make the stay of people pleasant and less disappointed about the cleanliness. The elevator was completely disgustingly dirty and it looked like a NY street elevator going to the subway.

He didn’t crack a smile, didn’t make us feel welcome to the hotel and when we asked for the free rollaway bed for our room that was specified in the reservation he said it wasn’t possible because it was a fire hazard so we had to sleep five people between two queen beds. Not one attempt was made to change rooms to accommodate us, even though he said other rooms were available, it would be a significant up charge. The area around hotel was decent enough, very close to Newport and good options for dining outside of Newport.

Staff was very nice. Great to stay here for quick visits into town or if you're on a work trip. Short drive from downtown Newport and close to all the shops/restaurants in Middletown and Portsmouth. They have a nice area in the lobby where you can work from with on the go breakfast and a coffee bar in the mornings. Dog friendly as well!

I booked the property for pool and hot tub only to find out after chdcking in that not only is the pool not functional, its under full renovation. There was no breakfast. Front desk clerk said "youre better off going down the road because all we have is whats in the cooler" and pointed to some yogurt which was available for a surcharge. Im sure its not reflective of all Sonesta locations but im a 1 and done. I spend alot on travel and its not worth sacrificing my comfort away from home. Wont be booking a Sonesta again.

Im sure its not reflective of all Sonesta locations but im a 1 and done. I spend alot on travel and its not worth sacrificing my comfort away from home. Wont be booking a Sonesta again.

Nothing unique. A lot of $ even though it was on sale thru Travelocity. Didn’t know why we would have to pay for breakfast. Not really a continental breakfast thru starbucks

Upon arrival the hotel said "oh, by the way the pool area is closed for refurbishment". With a call to Hotels Customer Service, a rare reduction took place. Money added to one key. Both Hotels and Sonesta worked to make it right. The GM and front desk were never rude and very kind. The breakfast was confusing. One person said to pay for items in fridge and another said help ourselves. Either it's free or it's not.

The outside and main lobby of hotel was beautiful. Room were spacious but a bit outdated, especially the bathroom. Tub was peeling a bit and the water pressure was pretty bad. Our room had a fridge but no microwave which was bad bc you had to go downstairs to use a microwave which was not convenient to get down to especially if you have kids , or a disability. Which my husband is handicap. Staff was welcoming and we even got free breakfast which made up for everything else. I like that they had a continental breakfast on side with starbucks coffee although not free. Our room had a balcony which overloooked the court yard. Our room walls were a bit thin and there was a loud party next door which we had to call the front desk at 2 am to take care of the noise. Again out of hotels control and hotel staff was very accommodating and took care of issue. In addition this hotel had a pool and jaccuzzi on site, but we didnt get to use. The location of hotel was close by downtown area and beaches. I would say this stay was an 80 out of a 100. The price and location, along with friendly staff and the convincing of having breakfast onsite was nice.

On the hotel end it showed I only paid for one breakfast, however as I registered 2 guests on hotels.com, my confirmation showed breakfast for 2. The hotel did provide the second voucher. I guess you get what you pay for. We were given a room that had a foul odor. Kinda smelled like cigarettes, but not sure. They had no issue giving us another room, and while better, it still had an odor. By the next morning, we could all detect the odor of urine. It is a pet-friendly hotel, so perhaps it was from an animal. Shower was not in good shape as the drain was rusty. The ceiling of the room had all kinds of yellow staining. Lamp and furniture also had stains. Chair had a bad odor. The cabinets were in pretty rough shape with the doors and drawers struggling to stay closed. The AC was pretty noisy and rattled. Did not really take advantage of any of the amenities, but could hear one of the cardio machines making noises it shouldn't when I walked past the "gym." Wife tried to use the ice machine, but it only gave her less than a handful of mostly melted ice. Not sure I'd use the Sonesta brand again.
