Great potential. Great location, being an easy walk to Lagos old town and to Dona Ana beach, and also with a Spar and a handful of restaurants nearby. Pool area and snack bar facilities also good, as was the kids club (small and informal). Reception staff also generally friendly friendly and helpful. However, although some rooms are recently refurbished, others need work (eg our air conditioner did not work, doors needed maintenance, mattress was old and uncomfortable etc). Similarly, areas around the pool (ie decking) need more regular maintenance and cleaning. Breakfast was fine, but the same every day - no made-to-order options or seemingly anything typically Portuguese. Pizzas in the restaurant/snack bar are decent, but the rest of the food just ok. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, but there is definitely room for improvement - we will definitely come back to Lagos, but maybe not this particular hotel. They need to spend more time/money on basics like maintenance, comfy beds and food quality (and perhaps less on things like the giant TVs in every bedroom...).

My experience was fantastic. While the hotel isn’t particularly modern, it matches the pictures perfectly, maintaining a charming and well-kept appearance. Cleanliness was top-notch, and my room seemed recently renovated—it was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully done. Complimentary breakfast was a highlight, offering a wide variety of high-quality options. The inclusion of small pastel de nata as breakfast desserts was a delightful touch. The staff were friendly and helpful, making both check-in and check-out seamless. Parking in the surrounding streets proved challenging, so I opted for the hotel’s paid parking at 12 EUR per night. The garage was secure and convenient, though exiting was a bit tricky due to its narrow, declined layout and shared entry/exit gate. Still, it was manageable without any issues. The hotel's location is excellent—close to stunning beaches like Dona Ana and Camilo, as well as within walking distance of Ponta da Piedade (about 20 minutes). The surrounding area felt safe and offered plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Overall, my stay at Aqualuz Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Lagos!

Beautiful property, with excellent rooms, pool and use of health club. The hotel is about a 10-15 minutes walk from the town center and Dona Ana beach. The reservation came along with buffet breakfast, with a good spread of options. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We found it a great place for a comfortable stay.

Hotel is located in a great central area - easy to get to old town, Marina and cliff trails. Room was very basic but comfortable. Front counter service was excellent and friendly! Breakfast was nice with some different options. Bar prices were high and bartender could have been friendlier. The pool and pool area was amazing! Best and biggest pool ive ever seen at a hotel! So clean and perfect temperature too! Would go thereagain and recommend it for the location and pool area for sure!

Schöne Hotelanlage, ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen, nahe historischem Zentrum (Baixa ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar) und Strandbuchten gelegen, Zimmer war geräumig, Bad renoviert mit Platz, Frühstücksbüffet sehr gut, Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, insgesamt sehr sauber

Hotel was in a great location and our room was nice and clean. The bar and restaurant were good and the pool was big and clean. Breakfast also had a good choice. All in all a pleasant stay but the grounds could do with a freshen up, decking around lounger areas was rickety and in need of repair in some spots, a lot of ants around these areas too which can’t be helped I guess but just a bit off putting. The air-con in our room was leaking on the balcony and so left a musty smell. I noticed a musty smell in other areas of the hotel too however we still enjoyed our stay here.

Information provided incorrect. Phone didn’t work. Cleaning average- cups were not cleaned etc. Tea / coffee not provided. Phone in room didn’t work the whole time we stayed. Parking more expensive than was told. Vegan options limited to fruit and dried bread despite being told many options. Rust on sofa bed sheets. Average stay.

Overall a nice stay, with a few minor inconveniences. The hotel was very nice overall — the room was spacious and the balcony had a great view overlooking the pool. However, the property was a bit more worn than it appeared in the photos. During our stay, we had to request fresh towels and more hand soap, as these weren’t replenished when the room was cleaned halfway through our trip. The pool area was lovely, but be warned — the water is freezing, more like a cold plunge than a relaxing swim. Definitely something to keep in mind depending on the season. The area around the hotel felt very safe, which we appreciated. That said, the walk into the old town/main area of Lagos took about 20 minutes (walking fast). It’s not too far, but if you’re hoping to pop into town for a quick lunch and then head back to relax by the pool, it can feel a bit inconvenient — especially since the walk back is mostly uphill.

Not a bad property, but needs some repairs and better cleaning. Overall would recommend if this is in your price range.

A bit more dirty than I would expect from a 4-star at this price - specially the area around the pool. The area around the hotel is not the most pleasant and not very clean as well.

Soggiorno di 4 notti in famiglia (2 figlie) Divano letto improponibile, veramente scomodo. Pulizia giornaliera approssimativa. Struttura in generale decente, piscine godibili (anche se non ci siamo praticamente mai stati… al mare si va al mare…) Colazione ricca e ben fornita. Soggiorno sufficiente/discreto…. Anche in rapporto alla spesa. Basterebbe poco per migliorare in modo consistente (divano letto più comodo e servizio delle camere più attento)

Amazing location near multiple beaches and close to the main core with multiple restaurants and shops. The hotel seems to be working through minor renovations still, I’m sure it will just get better and better. The rooms are extremely good. Definitely wish the 2 single beds wasn’t as popular of an option, double beds or queens or kings ONLY please!

We had a great stay at this hotel as a family of 5 including children. It was a good location and family friendly. We had an issue with air conditioning our first day and they took care of us by changing our room. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Good food options and drinks. Would recommend.

Firstly I wanted to say the reception and hospitality staff were nothing but helpful and friendly, particularly Emanuel and Renato, however, the hotel and its management were woeful. 1. We were left without air-conditioning for the entire week stay, got woken up by outside sounds because we had to keep the balcony door open at all times. Chased three times for them to even come and look at it. Told we would be moved, however, after packing, then told there was no spare rooms after all. Had to ask for fans, given really cheap ones, one fell over and broke, the other we had to fix ourselves. Got absolutely no doubt the next people into our room are still putting up with the broken aircon, clearly no plan to actually fix it. 2. One of the showers was broken, again multiple requests to fix it and promises it would be looked at, but no, we spent all week, all using the one bathroom to shower. 3. Minor but irritating on top of everything, my bedside lamp was broken (yes did check it wasn't just the bulb), again, same situation as the shower, promises but nothing done. One of the lights in the kitchen just cut out randomly. 4. Usually you don't find a bad breakfast in hotels like these, not here though, never met staler croissants and not a one off, my stepson tried to have one every day with the same results. One morning I had to try all three coffee machines to get some coffee! 5. Generally kept running out of stuff, towels, menu items, stopped being surprised in the end.

We were very happy with our stay at the Aqualuz Hotel. The studio room had a good size kitchen with a fridge and 2 burner cooktop. I think every room has a balcony. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The pool was a nice place to relax in the afternoon but the water was cold in October. The location was great -- a 10-minute walk to the old town and a 10-minute walk in the other direction to the boardwalk for gorgeous scenery.

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful but ordinary. No orange juice available, machine appeared broken several days in a row. We were in a spacious apartment style at road level so often a bit noisy. Twin bed mattresses not the best and bathroom fan was so noisy it sounded like a truck when you turned it on. Bathroom was otherwise modern with a great shower and great towels. Nice balcony overlooking pool. I have stayed at other Editory properties that put more effort into their breakfast. No tissues in room.

Nice rooms, book one with a balcony, totally worth it. Room without a balcony is not worth the cost. Great pools, fantastic hotel location. On our first day we were told by another guest how to find a walkway directly to the old town, less than 5 minute walk. Also, easy walk to waterfront and Ponta de Piedade.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very grand - our room was very difficult to find. That we had to go back to the front desk to get help to find it and they showed us the way.

Overall, this hotel was great. The rooms were spacious and clean. Lots of amenities here in a great location. Breakfast was lovely with a large selection. The staff were always friendly and ready to help. The only cons - the place is quite large, and it took us almost 10 minutes to get from our room to the parking garage. We found a somewhat quicker way eventually, but it is super easy to get lost. Also, our cards quit working every time, and we had to go to the reception 3+ times to get new cards. Not a huge deal except the reception area was far from our room.

We had a great stay at Aqualuz! The front desk staff was extremely helpful and assisted us with transportation to and from the airport, and planned our day trips to the Bengali caves and more.

For a hotel with as many rooms as it has, the area around the pool and restaurant never felt crowded, we were always able to get sunbeds for our party of 3. Reception was very welcoming when we arrived late (due to delays in passport control) which was heartening. Our room was spacious and well maintained, the housekeeping team were great. It would have been better if there were sufficient seats on the balcony - we moved a seat from the dining table so we could all sit together. The kitchen was well equipped and a great facility - although we didn't self cater - plenty of glasses and plates for drinks and snacks. Breakfast was good, although the choices were the same every day (but then again, breakfast is breakfast). More fruit choices would have been a plus. Checkout was seamless: as we were leaving early and would miss the breakfast service, we were offered a substitute which was great - no prompt was needed, again very welcome. Top marks for customer service and hospitality - thank you for a great stay.

The property was quite convenient and close to the beaches and city which made it perfect for walking and getting to explore Lagos. Staff was very pleasant (with one exception) and the breakfast was great. However, the property (outside of the room) was quite run down and needed work, the pictures unfortunately do not represent it being close to a 4 star hotel. Lots of the property is falling apart. Our experience with the front desk lady Carla was very unacceptable. We asked her where the Turkish Bath is located (as per the other nice and sweet front desk lady) and Carla told us “go ask the bar they should know”… and another time she even questioned us about asking for more beach/pool towels asking “where did ours go?”… as if we should be reusing our wet towels for a “4 star hotel”… it seemed like a burden for her to go find some new pool towels. For our two week trip to 6 different hotels in Spain and Portugal, this one had to be by far the worst one we experienced. Please note, all the other staff were friendly… however Carla needs to work on her professionalism if she wants to work in hospitality.

We stayed for 3 nights, and loved this hotel! A great location to walk to downtown and the beach, took about 10 min and be prepared for some hills. The hotel was lovely and in good condition. The room was comfortable for 3 adults, we had a 1 bedroom unit. Pull out was in good shape for our adult daughter. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. We loved the grassy areas around the pool (unheated). The only negative was a smell coming from the bathroom so needed to keep the door shut. Management was aware and did what they could, but likely because it is an older property. Our stay was still great and we would come again!

Love how you can park near by and 15 mins walk to Lagos old town and marina and the beach

Property was in a great area. Ten minute walk to old town Lagos with all of the restaurants and shops. Ten to fifteen min walk to 3 of the most amazing beaches. Beach towels were provided which was excellent for us. Hotel was in a safe area.

We really enjoyed having the beaches in close proximity, along with the town and some great restaurants!

We spent a week in AQUALUZ Lagos and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is some 15 minutes walk from the old town with all the restaurants and bars. Pool area is great, we always managed to find loungers whenever we needed them. The only disappointment was that the healthy breakfast options were limited, there was always some cut fruit, and yogurts, and a couple of cereals, no muesli or granola etc, just some oats.

Food could be more vegan/vegeterian friendly but everything else was very good. All in all a nice stay.

Sehr gute Lage für Lagos. Sowohl Richtung Innenstadt als auch zum Strand. Die Zimmer waren gut. Swimmingpool war auch gut. Das Frühstück war wirklich peinlich. Nur Instant Kaffee aus der Maschine und ein wirklich lächerliches Buffet.

Alles in einem gut, mit einer Ausnahme: das Frühstück ist komplett überlaufen, zu wenig Personal - wenn auch sehr bemüht. Ab 09:45 gab es nur mehr Reste, es wurde viel zu wenig aufgefüllt. Die Pools sind super, die Rezeption sehr nett. Der Preis ist allerdings zu hoch. Auf unserer Rindreise auf der Algarve waren wir schon in besseren Hotels, die nur halb so viel gekostet haben

We stayed at this hotel for one week. It was within walking distance to the marina area and several restaurants. It was also near the beautiful beaches of the Algarve. We enjoyed the pools and the fitness facilities. Mario, the breakfast food service manager was very personable and gave many suggestions and information about how to travel around the Algarve. He did an excellent job. Further, the people setting and clearing tables were also friendly and very efficient. The breakfast buffet was the best of the 5 hotels we stayed in while visiting Portugal.
