We had assumed that we had booked a nice hotel I guess that it had been once. The room was not dirty as such but it definitely could have done with a deep clean, it could best be described as grubby. The whole place looked run down and in need of refurbishment.

We had a really nice stay here. Obviously, because of the work going on it’s not perfect but we read the reviews and, to be honest, we expected worse than we encountered. The room was good with the biggest bed ever. The work was mainly confined to the reception area. The restaurant and bar area is really nice with alfresco dining. It’s all set in beautiful grounds. We will definitely come back.

Parking easy and reception staff good. Corridors need serious upgrades as uncarpeted and bare. Room was cold and very poorly lit. Curtain looked like a wartime throwback. No real facilities and even the kettle had to be moved to a bedside table to plug in. Very uninviting and I am pleased that on this occasion I was on my own. Would have been good value at half the price (comparable then to teh travel lodge round the corner)
