Impressive hotel and rooms, clean and well maintained - view was stunning from the room and also the VUE bar. What lets this hotel down unfortunately is that its lots of style but very little substance and practicality. When you 'scratch the surface' the service levels, food and beverage, value for money and sheer practicality of the hotels outlets are severely lacking. 1 Prices for drinks are ridiculously expensive - I understand that you can justify 88 YEN (11 Euro) for a tiny glass of wine in the 24th floor VUE bar because of the, well view! but for normal room service and restaurant prices its stupidly overpriced. 2 There is no lobby bar or general place to just sit with a laptop, cup of coffee and glass of wine. The lobby is like a aircraft hanger - empty soulless and devoid of character. The two Tea houses look like art museums and are scarily overpriced and uncomfortable looking. its more of a 'Look at me drinking expensive tea flavoured water in a grand setting' place rather than where you can relax and kick back. 3 The Concierge - with the exception of 'Cookie' I think her name was are not very helpful and seem more concerned with getting as much money out of hotel guests as possible via overcharging for hotel cars ad doing dodgy deals with taxi companies.... 4 The Restaurants are again extremely overpriced - The Japanese restaurant especially although the food was good. You basically pay for the view... The Aroma restaurant has an extremely limited menu.
