Despite being an old castle, there is a well functioning ventilation system that eliminates any musty or moldy smell one might expect. We arrived early and could check in. Used pool and jacuzzi overlooking Perugia. Lovely and relaxing at the end of the trip. First impressions of this ancient castle did not disappoint. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel and grounds were impressive. Room was very comfortable. Had a drink outside before dinner. Still taking it all in. Dinner was incredible. Had a great nights sleep and breakfast was a huge choice of self serve items. Lots of home made unusual choices. Loved our unique castle experience

We had such a great time at Castello di Monterone. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay—always available and super welcoming. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our room was spotless, the shower was fantastic, and everything felt very comfortable. The castle itself is beautiful and full of charm—it really feels like a special place. It’s also just a few minutes’ drive from the old town, which made exploring easy. We also really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was delicious—we tried the crocchette di patate, tartare di manzo al coltello, tagliolini al ragù, lasagna vegetariana, crema di pomodoro, and costolette di agnello. Everything was tasty and the restaurant staff were just as lovely as the rest of the team. Breakfast was great too, with lots of choices and everything fresh. And on hot days, the swimming pool was a real treat. All in all, a fantastic experience. We’d definitely love to come back.

So much thought has gone in the rooms, what is where and what would please. Perugia town is only 10 minutes away and can seen from the hotel on a hill over a valley of fields and olive trees. The swimming pool fits in perfectly with plenty of sun loungers and two separate hot tubs bubbling away. Perugia town itself has creates a lasting impression. The airport is only 15 minutes away. For us it is one of Italy’s lovely secrets.

A stunning boutique “castle” hotel, fantastic restaurant for dinner!!! Nice pool and hot tub. The view of Perugia is wonderful, especially during sunset. The staffs are helpful and warm. A few minor improvements can be made, like proving water/coffee/tea in room? The shower hot water was not consistent in my room.

Compare to other “castello” Hotel, It was the best. There are enough parking space at entrance and easy to load and bring up to the room. Facility is nice and clean. The staff are all friendly. I recommend this place.

Unique experience staying in an 800 year old castle for the night. Immaculately maintained, helpful and friendly staff. Wonderful room, and very good breakfast with ample options. Very highly recommended.

Beautiful restore property very clean with tiny rooms unfortunately we will not coming back ever we spend 3 nights there and the air conditioning in the all property does not work even in the restaurant where i invite 7 guests from the arra so you are sweating all day and whole night..i concluded that they tryng to save cost... understandable but not at the expenses of the costumers.. after expressing my self to the management they offer me lunch and some local wine but i decliner respectively.

A stunning boutique “castle” hotel, fantastic restaurant for dinner!!! Nice pool and hot tub. The view of Perugia is wonderful, especially during sunset. The staffs are helpful and warm. A few minor improvements can be made, like proving water/coffee/tea in room? The shower hot water was not consistent in my room.

This was the most beautiful property we have ever stayed at. Staying in a castle with so much history in the 13th century was surreal. The bedroom was a bit dark but castles aren't known for their big windows. Bed and bathroom were great. We had dinner there 3 nights which was also superb with good wines to match and reasonably priced for where we were. A gorgeous view from the restaurant and other areas. Perfect.

We had such a great time at Castello di Monterone. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay—always available and super welcoming. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our room was spotless, the shower was fantastic, and everything felt very comfortable. The castle itself is beautiful and full of charm—it really feels like a special place. It’s also just a few minutes’ drive from the old town, which made exploring easy. We also really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was delicious—we tried the crocchette di patate, tartare di manzo al coltello, tagliolini al ragù, lasagna vegetariana, crema di pomodoro, and costolette di agnello. Everything was tasty and the restaurant staff were just as lovely as the rest of the team. Breakfast was great too, with lots of choices and everything fresh. And on hot days, the swimming pool was a real treat. All in all, a fantastic experience. We’d definitely love to come back.

This was our second stay at Castello di Monterone. It really is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The property and grounds are absolutely stunning! It is so peaceful and relaxing. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel is also wonderful. The location is great for exploring the towns and sights of Perugia! We will DEFINITELY be returning!

Amazing place, friendly people that work there, excellent restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was really great too. Castle that was built in 1120. Sweeping views of Perugia and the countryside. I can't say enough about this castle. The pasta dish I had was probably the best I had on my entire trip and that included 5 days in Roma.

We had a fabulous week, the hotel is clean, comfortable and beautiful, with friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was great and extensive and the dinners were excellent. The hotel is quite close to the City Center but you feel like you’re in the country.

We arrived early and could check in. Used pool and jacuzzi overlooking Perugia. Lovely and relaxing at the end of the trip. First impressions of this ancient castle did not disappoint. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel and grounds were impressive. Room was very comfortable. Had a drink outside before dinner. Still taking it all in. Dinner was incredible. Had a great nights sleep and breakfast was a huge choice of self serve items. Lots of home made unusual choices. Loved our unique castle experience

Super fint hotel med fantastisk have/udeområde med udsigt - og meget sødt personale. Restaurantens mad er god - også morgenmaden med bla. friskpresset juice de fleste dage, men akustikken i restauranten er forfærdelig! Gåturen ind til (op til!) Perugia er kedelig og med mange biler - men byen er meget flot og skal absolut besøges, tag evt. bussen.

Overall very good stay. Great place if you want to be near Perugia but not in it and, more so, at an absolutely beautiful property. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Our room was definitely small but we got stuck with a smaller corner (Lecci room) likely because we didn’t direct book with them and other than being very tight, the room didn’t have its own router for some reason so internet was an issue but staff addressed best they could. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast not great and loud annoying American tour group didn’t help (says this American). Again, would stay if want amazing and unique property close to Perugia and main towns in Umbria.

On the outside very nice, but the service just adequate at best. rooms look tired no tea or coffee available in the room. no mention from the hotel on what’s available. no offer to help with suitcases on departure as the hotel is on a slope and at 68 years old an offer of assistance would have been nice overall disappointed Housekeeping needs to be addressed as quite lax. Breakfast was very basic and evening meals were ok
