very nice hotel. walkable trails in all directions. Via some trail shortcuts ( on paved roads), one can reach the lake and river within 20-24 mins walk. tennis courts, hot tub and heated pool.

We loved the convenient location. Hiking paths right off the property and the agility course. The outdoor pool with hot tub and sauna is great. Wished the outdoor pool opened before 10 AM for a lap swimming. The accommodations were very comfortable, and the resort “style” was very appealing.

Beautiful, serene and well kept mountain forest retreat. Service that was attentive with a smile. Wilderness zip line park, hiking trails at the property, pool- we will be back.

The lodge is in a great location tucked in to the forest away from the main road but not too far from amenities. Stayed in a studio room that felt like a cozy cabin with large windows that had great views of the snowy grounds. My son and I loved the nearby sledding hill. I loved taking wintry walks around the lodge where there are ample opportunities for walking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We did conveniently rent some snowshoes on site too. Recommend for families with younger children.

The resort’s biggest asset is its staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the resort itself is outdated and in dire need of updates. The rooms are dirty and some look worse than a budget hotel. Our shower was extremely low making it very difficult for anyone over 5 feet tall. There were stains on the bed linens and the furniture was old. This room was the second one they gave us since the first was even worse. It’s a shame because the area is beautiful.

For the price, the place is absolutely not worth it. The place was full of both dead and alive bugs. The phone cord was broken so we couldn't call the front desk. Though the kitchen is updated and has everything you need there, the bathroom was dated and the door was peeling. The unit was very worn and certainly "cozy". The ameneties, like pool, hot tub and gym were nice. The best thing about the place is the dinner at the restaurant. Otherwise, you'll understand why the price point on this is low. Spend a couple hundred more for something better. (But also understand, you're likely there to be outdoors! You'll want a nice place to get some sleep... that's clean.)

In general, decent place to stay but not without issues. No problems with parking (plenty of space). Front desk staff nice and giving all the information. When we reached the building with our room the corridor smelled funky. Rooms look very dated and not as clean as one could hope for. Beds hard but not the worst. Our biggest problem was missing blinds wand in one of the windows. The venetian blinds were open at the time and we were staying at the ground floor so that was a big privacy issue. On the way from our walk we notified front desk about our problem. It took a while (and extra call) to get maintenance people to take a look at it but they couldn't fix it. just manually shut the blinds (so then opening to let some morning light in wasn't possible). Don't get me wrong, there are some issues that are hard to address on the spot but considering that it is quite an expensive place to stay and the problem isn't trivial from a guest perspective, lack of any compensation (discount or just moving us to another room) from the side of the hotel was disappointing (especially, after first amazing impression at the front desk when we arrived). The room provided two big beds, fridge (which is nice) but there was no safe to leave valuables. There were no a ceiling light but only lamps and that would work if not that one of our windows had blinds shut now permanently so we lacked proper bright light. Overall, this is good place but management needs to pay more attention to detail.

Terrible experience at this property. Received a room that was dirty and not as advertised. This place is not a hotel but more of a 1950’s condo style time share property that is in need of major renovation. The buildings do not but appear to have been renovated since they were built and smell terrible. The room that I received had trash and empty wine bottles and coffee grounds in the waste bin. Bed was undone and it was obvious that someone had been in the room recently. Used shower towels were out m, etc- a complete mess. The offsite receptionist was able to have onsite staff help with me checking into another room at 2am which was greatly appreciated considering the circumstances. I could understand why this process took as long as it did. Unfortunately the alternate room appeared to be someone’s dirty time share since it was cluttered with old furniture, old/filthy rugs, and overall items that looked and smelled as if they were 30 yrs old. At that hour, I had no choice but to stay the night since I was traveling with my wife and baby boy. A motel 6 would have been 5-star experience compared to this unit. I would compare it to a 1/10 college dormitory at best and not a room in any condition to be offered on Expedia. Overall- this is was my worse experience to date with Expedia, hotel, or short term rental.

Property did not look like pictures online. Room was dirty- dusty and cobwebs. Asked for a different room and that room was even dirtier. Person at the desk basically said there was nothing they could do since we booked through Expedia. ?? We would have not even checked in, but we had activities booked and couldn’t find other rooms nearby. We cleaned the room ourselves (thank goodness I packed Lysol wipes!) and tried to make the best of it, but it was so noisy we did not sleep well. We checked out as soon as we finished our fishing charter forfeiting our last night at a really expensive rate. After traveling for 8 days and staying in 5 other amazing places, this property was a huge disappointment for the last leg of our trip. They made no offerings to make our stay better or even give a partial refund.

Stayed in standard room, which was basically a dorm room. The beds were hard and the heater never went above 70°F. It was snowing outside, so it was cold indoors. We ended up checking out a night early and staying at a different hotel.

This place has a lot going for it, but naturally it depends on what you need, want or expect. It is built on a hillside with a variety of buildings that make up the rentable rooms. The Pool and Hot Tub are at the bottom of the hill, and your room/building might be up the hill. The rooms and décor were clean enough, but very dated and uninspired. I imagine it could be very good for a family coming to the area to go sledding. Our simple motel-like room had a large open closet area in which would be good for hanging wet clothes/coats/sleds/skis. The beds were soft and overall we slept well. Our room had a mini-fridge, a microwave and a pod coffee maker. I wish the various room lights (floor lamps in corners and a couple near the bed) were brighter; the room felt dreary at night instead of inviting. We didn't have the opportunity to try the 'resort' restaurant, but opted to drive the 5-10 minutes into town instead for more options, and brought milk and cookies back with us from the SaveMart for dessert. The trees around the place are quite nice, and although I felt the cost (for a night) was far too high for what the place is, I also understand that Lake Tahoe offerings are always at a premium price. In short: functional, but nothing to write home about.

Guys, this one is tough. This place is fantastic except for two things. First, our room was really small for two adults. The bathrooms were surprisingly big — which we loved. Last, the mattress is a covered coiled nightmare. They were ok at best, but nearly destroyed our aging backs. With the complaints out of the way I’ll say that the place is really good. The overall experience is what can only be described as “car/condo camping.” Campground feel and layout. Cozy lodge and restaurant — good mix of modern and old world charm. The rooms are, clean, cozy and very close to your vehicle— which I totally appreciated. The staff is AWESOME — totally guest-friendly. If they installed better mattresses it would be great. Ok for a short stay, but can’t spend a week sleeping on them — especially if you do any sort of exercise or mountain/lake activities. Close to everything in Tahoe City, lake, river and ski areas. Went in August. Will write another review when we return in winter. May bring our own mattress. LOL!

In general, decent place to stay but not without issues. No problems with parking (plenty of space). Front desk staff nice and giving all the information. When we reached the building with our room the corridor smelled funky. Rooms look very dated and not as clean as one could hope for. Beds hard but not the worst. Our biggest problem was missing blinds wand in one of the windows. The venetian blinds were open at the time and we were staying at the ground floor so that was a big privacy issue. On the way from our walk we notified front desk about our problem. It took a while (and extra call) to get maintenance people to take a look at it but they couldn't fix it. just manually shut the blinds (so then opening to let some morning light in wasn't possible). Don't get me wrong, there are some issues that are hard to address on the spot but considering that it is quite an expensive place to stay and the problem isn't trivial from a guest perspective, lack of any compensation (discount or just moving us to another room) from the side of the hotel was disappointing (especially, after first amazing impression at the front desk when we arrived). The room provided two big beds, fridge (which is nice) but there was no safe to leave valuables. There were no a ceiling light but only lamps and that would work if not that one of our windows had blinds shut now permanently so we lacked proper bright light. Overall, this is good place but management needs to pay more attention to detail.

I liked the rustic setting, pool, jacuzzi and pball courts. However, I was kept awake two straight nights by loud party noise and music. I wish property had informed me on check-in that my room overlooked an event center with wedding parties both nights of my stay and offered me a different location. I had the windows closed too.

Overall, our two nights at the hotel were comfortable, but noise and service were the frustrating points. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable (one of the best I’ve had in a long time), but thin doors and long hallways (with lots of kids) lead to disruptive morning noise. Amenities were great, especially the large hot tub, pool and sauna. Location is convenient, but still requires a car to drive into town. The only other frustration was service. Calling in advance to confirm staffing for a late checkin (11pm+) only created more uncertainty with a response of “there should be someone here”. Then upon checkin we got the wrong room given to us, and had to shuffle rooms at 1am.

Conveniently located, walkable to the treetop adventure and the sledding areas. Studio room is small. While it’s clean, it’s poorly maintained. The heater ducts are slow and while there are two ducts only one works at a time. The patio door doesn’t close cleanly, so cold air seeps in. Front desk clerk was terrible. Arrived at hotel he told me to wait for 20 min before he can check me in. Then told me I couldn’t get the room that I paid for. The whole time he was on FaceTime with someone. Never had such bad customer service at a hotel. The morning staff were professional and easy to work with.

I felt like I wasn't welcome there. The check-in person was brusque, and the constant email and text reminders were annoying. Always trying to sell me more. While the room was clean and all the basic supplies were there, the fact that there wasn't one chair in the place meant I had to sit on the floor to put on my shoes an socks. Who chooses the TV system?

very nice hotel. walkable trails in all directions. Via some trail shortcuts ( on paved roads), one can reach the lake and river within 20-24 mins walk. tennis courts, hot tub and heated pool.

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Granlibakken Tahoe! The location is perfect—peaceful, tucked in the trees, yet close to everything around the lake. The manager was so welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help, which really made us feel at home. The lodge has that cozy Tahoe charm that makes you want to stay longer. My husband says he’s never slept so well—though that might be because I made him carry the luggage. 😉 Already looking forward to coming back!

We loved the convenient location. Hiking paths right off the property and the agility course. The outdoor pool with hot tub and sauna is great. Wished the outdoor pool opened before 10 AM for a lap swimming. The accommodations were very comfortable, and the resort “style” was very appealing.

This place is a great value. Perfect for a budget stay. Room was adequate and spacious with K-cup coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Staff is great. Close to Tahoe City and easy drive to Palisades.

We love this property, but it's not always perfect. This time the sink drain was leaking when the sink ran and it was impossible for the bathroom floor not to flood during a shower. Otherwise all good! Very large and comfortable lodge room. We are repeat customers and we will continue to come back. However, we think the breakfast has gotten too expensive at $15 for kids and $20 for adults (and no more hot cocoa). We used to book here more often because, when the breakfast was included, it was a nice economical option.

We really enjoyed our stay at Granlibakken Lodge in Tahoe. We've stayed here several times, and have always had an amazing experience. The rooms are clean, comfy, and well stocked. All the comforts of home. The breakfast buffet is delicious, it's a hot tub and pool is clean and very relaxing.

Nice place. Bathroom was very small. Enjoyed the pool since it was a very warm day. Staff were all very friendly throughout the property. If I stay again, I won’t pay for the buffet breakfast because food was cold.

We liked the breakfast buffet and dinner at the on site restaurant. Our kids enjoyed playing in the snow on site, sledding, and enjoying the large outdoor hot tub. Our room could have been bigger and more updated. At a minimum, the room needed black out shades as it faced the parking lot where a light was on all night, plus the headlights of cars leaving and parking disturbed our sleep as well.

We booked this trip on a whim looking for a getaway in Tahoe and we couldn't have chosen a better place! Everything was amazing during our stay and felt really cozy like we were at home. At the Granlibakken they have so many things to do. We enjoyed playing pickleball, swimming, and also using their gym. The biggest highlight would be their friendly staff. Joshua was very gracious and helpful when it came to recommending some activities and good food spots around Tahoe! As well as, Adrian & Raul were both very catering to us during our delicious breakfast. Overall, our experience here at the Granlibakken was superb. Perfect for couple looking for a getaway and for families. We'll definitely be back soon!

The studio is lovely - roomy, convenient, practical and great for a getaway. Staff is welcoming, very friendly, and so helpful. Breakfast was delicious, and I had a couple of lovely walks on the well-maintained mountain trails at Granlibakken. Splendid Lake Tahoe is right there, but Granlibakken offers a quiet, relaxing retreat from the traffic and crowds at the Lake. Highly recommend Granlibakken for families, couples, or a place to meet up with nearby family and friends. Five Stars!!!
