Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

The mineral pools and hot tubs were wonderful and well maintained. The pool area was spotless and perfectly relaxing. The parking was secure and gated. The rooms could really use updating, but the beds were just fine. All in all a very nice experience.

First time visiting this resort, we have frequented the sister resort across the street. They are similar, albeit we were only able to stay for 1 night. We did notice there were less functioning hot tubs, several were cold at night. We will definitely be back to explore more.

24/7 pool

Pools and pool area are great. The rooms are clean, but the furniture and beds need upgrading. The staff was very personable and nice. We arrived early and enjoyed the pools while they readied the room. It has a gated area to park your vehicle overnight.

Although the facility has a dated appearance, I was quite pleased and will definitely return! Clean room, quiet air conditioner that worked very well, bathroom looked dated and needed new paint but everything worked very well, room is very quiet. The large pool and hot mineral water spas were very desirable (pool is open 24 hours)! The restaurant provides a generous portion of flavorful food at a reasonable price! Overall, I feel the quality of the facility is very good compared to the price paid!

Hotel looks and feels dated. One of the main pools was closed for repairs. Lots and lots of kids.

It was a great stay, pools were excellent! However be aware there are no elevators.

Very noisy: this hotel doesn’t seem to have quiet hours, and the pools seem to be open all night.

Restaurant food is excellent and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful. Discount in gift shop if you ate in restaurant. Nice bar and can dine outside poolside. Temperature of the pools/ hot tubs/ dry sauna is awesome. Negative: kids up screaming in the pool till midnight. Why are their parents letting this happen. Letting them play up late is fine but shut up. People do have to sleep.

Coffee maker broke into 4 pieces upon opening to pour water into ressrvoir, asked front desk for new one, 2 hours later, never showed up still. Hair was on shower wall. Pools were extremely dirty!

The place has really been run down, needs a lot of work. The pools tore up our feet, it's so rough on the bottom. The water was filthy. They did clean it the next day. But there was a lot of oils and hair in the water.. The room was clean, cool and spacious.

Unfortunately there was rain during our stay. The door to the room has an inch at the bottom that’s open and not sealed. There was rain coming in and soaking carpet. The beds were very uncomfortable. The ceiling in the bathroom was leaking water and soaked some things we had in there. Ceiling paint / etc was peeling coming apart. People at pools after 11pm were extremely loud. Stains all over the carpet.

Will not come back to this hotel. Pools were extremely filthy. Roaches everywhere. Never again! It’s like no one has cleaned in years.

This place needs to be inspected by the health department its dirty, i was sick to my stomach, they have a bedbug infestation i have a video of the bedbugs crawling on the bed! And pictures of the filty curtains, as we arrived a man standing outside our room smoking Marijuana, the Manager didn't even bother to talk to me or even called me when i reported to the front desk that we couldnot stayin the room! I have not received a refund for the room charges or my deposit back.

The room was so dirty, the carpet was so dirty and smelled so bad, there were hair from previous guest on the bed, dust every where, terrible experience, never come back to this hotel.

The staff was wonderful. The cafe food was delicious. The Gift Shop was very nice. The pools and jacuzzis were absolutely awesome. This is an older hotel but our room was clean and we had coffee, microwave, mini fridge, towels and a nice tv.

Check in was good, friendly staff. Room nice and cool AC. Pools were dirty and slimy algae on the bottom. Some angry lady banging on our door around midnight. We ended up leaving in the middle of the night due to feeling unsafe

The room was unclean. There was urine on the toilet seat and stains on the comforter. It also had a foul odor. Fortunately, the manager was apologetic and had the room re-cleaned per our request.

Staff is nice and friendly. Rooms are clean and the pools are clean and relaxing.

My room was really old and the bed was worn out but I only paid $60 per night so cant really complain. You get what you pay for but the owner really does need to put more resources into this place.

This hotel is a good value option. The staff was great and the bar and restaurant were top notch. They had fenced and secure parking for guests which was nice. Room was large and the HVAC and refrigerator worked well. The property is old. No hiding that fact. However, keeping the price and your expectations in alignment is key. We enjoyed the stay and the cost was on point.

The multiple thermal hot pools are the real draw here. And they really are relaxing. The ambiance is great, but other details (TV, air conditioner, plumbing, door lock) are always kinda iffy so it helps to check that everything is working when you check into your room for the first time.

The room, 211, was terribly outdated. The deadbolt would not lock. The heat/A.C. unit sounded like a diesel truck. The drapes did not close completely so hard to sleep.

We had a wonderful time as always we come once or twice a year to this Hotel & always have an amazing time the hot thermal pools are amazing for joint muscle problems

The floors walls are thin and rooms noisy. I can hear footsteps in the rooms above and also when the showers are turned on, the pipes make loud water running sounds. The water temperature keeps turning hot and cold. When someone flushes toilet or runs water, the shower suddenly turns cold. The beds are lumpy and might need to be replaced. Not enough pillows.

the room was ample and clean, there was a lot of loud thumping and people walking, I had to wear ear plugs the second night. my room was 112 , i would not recommend this room.

Stayed on the bottom floor for the first time, I would not recommend it. You can hear everything going on upstairs, and it is very noisy. And that this place is always a good time, great, hot tubs, and pools in a sauna. Also pretty close to Joshua tree. Diner has really good food and the cocktail lounge has really good drinks and karaoke, which is an added bonus.

While the pools were great the bed and pillows were horrible. I was woken up every single time my daughter moved and slept maybe an hour.

From the moment we arrived, Tracy greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel right at home. She was incredibly attentive, answered all our questions, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. My family loves desert hot springs spa and hotel. We’ve been here multiple times this year. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. We needed a room change due to my son’s recent knee surgery Brandy and Tom we’re on it. They were able to get us a room that didn’t require going up stairs. I love this hotel and the amazing staff. It’s always a pleasure visiting DHS spa and hotel.

At check in- the receptionist did not give me an explanation why my Ccard was swiped, If room was already paid through Expedia. She gives me a (1) key for the room, no instructions how to use the gated parking( needed a code which is written on the key envelope) It took me some time to figure it out, thinking it was WIFI password. In the room- the tv remote did not have batteries, went to front desk and got batteries, but it didn’t work either. Some light bulbs in the room were out of order. The toilet was not working properly, couldn’t flush or the water was running all night. No WiFi, couldn’t get connected. I wasn’t told which one to use or needed a password or it was open. I felt that I was given an out of order room. Did not want to stress about all these inconvenience, just wanted to relax which was the main purpose of my trip.

2nd time here and we do like the bar and food. The cook is excellent but depending on the bar person or if low on staff, it can be a big wait. Checked in on a Friday with one person checking in. It was awful. She did her best but it would've been better if she kept the chatting down. We didnt get in until after check in. People were waiting a long time. We didnt have a privacy curtain and it was a rough 1 night stay with the sun blaring in. 2nd day, it was replaced. The maintenance guys were great. The rooms are very old, but it works for us. Jessica, life guard, was awesome. The big pool was green & the only cool one available. The others were blue but way too hot and you couldn't find relief. It was just an ok stay. We did see a lot of staff busting their butts but the day we left was the day they were cleaning the big pool. Such a bummer.

I had an issue with the upstairs guests right above my room, they were stomping and running around well after 11 pm. The front office couldn’t get in contact with the guest and it continued on, my husband and I got up and left. Waited for a manager to contact us for refund, still have heard back from the hotel till this day.

I never leave reviews but…Where do I start? Upon driving 7 hours to arrive at the hotel, where our 7 year old goes all the time to swim late at night with her biological father, we immediately were told all kids have to leave by a disgruntled and extremely rude security guard who’s excuse for his attitude was”I’m watching 2 properties tonight” and stormed off. Mind you our 7 year old has never been told she can’t be in the pools past any time and they claim the pools are 24/7. Additionally the pool we were in for the brief 2 minutes had a used condom floating in it. So we took this time to go to the room and shower only to find the shower knob broken. Went to the front desk and was handed a screwdriver and fixed it myself so our 7 year old can shower the condom pool water off. Additionally our TV remote didn’t work which just put another damper on the night. Keep in mind this was all within the first 2 hours of arriving. Also found a loose dog roaming the pool and found the owners to return it too. Next morning, walk to the cafe and the condom is still by the pool near the office. We ended up getting a $40 food and beverage credit and were told we could not be refunded our room fee and instead was offered another free night to stay there..which we did not want to accept considering how terrible the conditions were already. Was given the supervisor number for compensation but was never compensated for the room. We didn’t want a food and beverage credit we want our money back

Justin was probably the most rude associate i have ever encountered. He wouldnt listen to any of my questions about my options during a scheduling dilemma I had and even accussed me of fraud. He told me he didnt believe anything I said because "this is desert hot springs" I hope you guys learn very quickly that you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar. Everybody else was great that I encountered and so helpful.

Mineral pools were great. Choice of temperature & a bigger pool for swimming. Close to Arial tram, a must see!

The fridge in the room was so noisy. Had to unplug it. We were on the back side of the hotel. Seemed a bit sketchy. Was probably a great hotel back in the day so in dire need of some renos. The front desk staff were great.

The gate wasn't working the night I stayed. Cars were coming in and out looking for something.

The hotel was built in 1950 so it's a little step back into time. Their is a gate around the building and parking which made us feel comfortable. The Natural Hot Mineral Water pools make this hotel unique the hotel is a little rundown but what do you expect for the price.

The surrounding area is dismal to say the least. The hotel itself is old and in need of a major overhaul. Cleanliness not a priority.

Older property, minimum amenities, piles of trash on corner of property. clean as can be for an outdated property but we'll stay else where next time. Friendly staff though.

You should update the photos on the Expedia website. The hotel is very run down. It’s in an unsafe neighborhood. Broken tile in the bathroom. Duct tape covering the seams on the astroturf walkway. No elevator to the second floor. Outdoor stairs only. Homeless everywhere. Abandoned vehicles in the parking lot.

Great 8 mineral water pools. All with different temperature so everyone can find right water. Staff: great and friendy.men and women working around the clock to keep place clean.Great restaurant ,great food.great bar karaoke. Will come again and will recommend this place to our friends

The first time we came to the restaurant we were ignored by the waitress while waiting for breakfast. After several minutes of being ignored, we went to Miracle Springs next door for breakfast. The second time we came, we were directed to sit 'anywhere', but the waitress seemed to not be happy with our choice. Our food sat on the cooks pass, until served to us cold by the waitress, I mean 'really cold'. We won't be back to this diner

They just came out with a new menu and all the prices have taken a pretty big jump. Before it was a nice place to eat and enjoy the outside but I took one look at the new prices and walked out. 16 bucks for a hamburger is nuts. Overall enjoyed the visit. They do have hanging extension cords draped over the some of the balconies and from the trees which looks pretty bad. Been that way for years. Prices for this place are all over the map depending on the day. I would say, if its 100 or less per night, you should enjoy your visit.

It’s my second time back to this vacation spot and it was a really good stay ! The room was nice and clean , I love the balcony rooms , the view of the mountains , snow covered hills , Palm trees and pools is like heaven ! This hotel is pet friendly which is awesome ! The only thing I was disappointed was the restaurant had minimum staff which meant the service was slow and minimum option for food ! Kinda pricey for what you pay for food options . I’ll be back and bring my furry baby’s ! Thank you desert vacation spa !
