The room was big and the bed was comfy! The coffee shop in the lobby was great - a great place to work. And the rooftop bar was cute. I like the area! However, we asked them to clean our room every day and they only did the last day. Getting more towels took forever. the hot water went out right when I needed to shower before an event. The gym was INSANELY hot like unbearable.

The Merchant Hotel LES was an awesome hotel stay! Great location close to the some of the hottest dinner and bar spots in downtown NYC. Easy walkability to the subway from Delancey-Essex stop. The hotel room was spacious, modern and updated, and impeccably clean. They also have a beautiful lobby, cafe, and restaurant/bar downstairs for guest. Would definitely stay again! Quiet and chic!

We had an amazing time at The Merchant Hotel. Firstly - the view was gorgeous. Such amazing big windows. The room was so clean and in great condition. Good lighting. Comfy bed. Had a fridge which is a lovely bonus. The bathroom had 2 separate shower heads - perfect for a couple's shower. The room was a good temperature which considering it was 35C out was a blessing - yet it was the freezing cold air con you get in some places. The hotel had a lovely rooftop bar with fab views and nice cocktails (though not the best in the city!). There is also a little coffee bar on the ground floor. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are key-code entry which means no worrying about losing keys. Excellent location - not far from the subway and lots of cool bars around. There is a great cafe a few doors down that does amazing breakfasts ("Good Thanks") which we highly recommend. We plan to go back to NYC soon - usually we like to explore different hotels when we return somewhere but we would definitely love to stay at The Merchant again.

LOVED IT! Hotel, the location, the room, the staff, the downstairs bar (tended by Miguel), the ROOFTOP bar — everything was top drawer. And the price was right on the money. We have been bagging big hotels in favor of boutique hotels over the last few years — The Merchant is our new fave!

The staff was wonderful and responsive, and the room was great (albeit small, but it’s NYC). Bed was very comfortable and the views from the room were amazing. Main complaints were that the shower floor was a bit dirty (stains that seem to have set in), the toilet seat was very wobbly, the A/C wasn’t as strong as we’d have liked (never reached desired temperatures, but thankfully it never got too hot), and we had a few fruit/drain flies occasionally in the bathroom mainly. Otherwise, location was fantastic (definitely a younger neighborhood) and the place met our needs for a nine night stay. Would definitely consider this place again in the future, but would also see what else is available.

• You can hear everything on the street very clearly — the room should have some kind of noise protection, such as noise-reducing curtains. • The water did not run hot; it was only lukewarm, and the shower was very cold. • There were not enough in-room drinks. For example, there was only one day’s supply of creamer — where is the milk? • There was no complimentary blanket so felt cold at night. • I previously stayed at the Hyatt, which offered more amenities. • There were no complimentary items such as a shower cap, toothbrush, or toothpaste. • There was mould on the bathroom tiles. • Overall, it was not worth the price.

Atendimento da equipe da recepção muito bom, mas o quarto estava bem sujo. Mesmo solicitando, tivemos limpeza no quarto apenas em 1 dos 4 dias que nos hospedamos. As camareiras jogavam a poeira para debaixo dos móveis e o chão ficava imundo. A vista do quarto é linda, mas as camas que supostamente eram para ser queen, eram no máximo uma cama de casal de viuva. Tirando o tamanho, a cama era confortável. A vista do quarto era muito linda. Se a sua intenção é se hospedar em um grupo de 4 pessoas, não recomendo, pois o quarto é muito apertado para essa capacidade.

The room itself was comfortable, however we did not have any heat OR hot water. There weren’t any available rooms to be moved to, so The front desk sent up blankets. When we went to speak to someone in the morning, we we’re informed that they were having issues with the HVAC and saw some other people reporting the same issues.

The Merchant LES was the perfect landing spot for us in NYC…the city view we had from our corner room was picture perfect.The rooms are modern with comfortable beds. Loved the decor. Short walk to the subway made it easy to get places quickly. Highly recommend.

Super clean. Nice building. Good room (a little tight, but…it’s the LES). Heating was having troubles (quite cold out!). Power was not working to the mini fridge. Staff were great and attentive.

The staff was great and the room was nice, but the walls are very thin. We could hear people talking in the next room. Also the shower didnt get very hot. Outside of those 2 things, the place was great.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. My room was clean and modern, everything was brand new. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious balcony was a bonus and nice for hanging out on after walking the streets. Will definitely stay here again. Keyless entry was convenient!

Wow! This place is a dream. We had a superior king room with city views and it was absolutely stunning. Pics don’t do it justice. The staff was wonderful, perfect location, and I can’t believe how good the rate was. The lobby design is incredible as well. All around well thought out aesthetics and excellent execution. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Communication mainly - I tried to call, text and email the front desk multiple times during my stay and received no response. The “everything happens through the phone” system is not very functional.

Booked within two weeks to come to NYC for my friend's birthday, who always wanted to see the Christmas lights of the city. As someone who previously worked in hotels in Sales, I had a perfect stay. The room was amazing! Loved that it had many plug outlets available for use, and the corner room had a panoramic view overlooking the city. We opened the curtains, and chose to keep them open for the duration of our stay to look out at the lights of the city at night. Loved using the keypad for room entry instead of trying to find and not demagnetize a room key. The only issue we had was getting the original digital key. Which leads to my next huge KUDOS for your staff. Audra, Rudy, and Jonathan where each amazing. Audra we first met when we got to the city/hotel early and asked to check our luggage until the room was ready. She was very busy with checkouts, guests, and the phones, but she handled everything with such graciousness and care. I have seen others including myself get flustered and bogged down in the chaos, but she took care of everything and owned the front desk. Rudy we met when we came back to check in. He was also amazing at helping us get into our room and get our bags when the digital key didn't send a code. He was so helpful and kind. We met Jonathan at 4 in the morning on our way out, and he had the biggest smile and was very friendly and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time in New York and stay at your hotel. Hotel is A+, the staff are GOLD STARS!

Beautiful room with spectacular views. We had the corner king room and it was great. Immaculately clean. The front staff was terrific, very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful room with spectacular views. We had the corner king room and it was great. Immaculately clean. The front staff was terrific, very helpful. The digital key card had consistent issues. Got locked out of our room 3 times one at 12:30 in the morning which is extremely inconvenient. There was also issues with the heating and we stayed in the winter (It was 10 degrees) so our room was freezing the heat was completely off!!! Which is completely unsafe and uncomfortable in that kind of weather. If you want a stress free visit to NY do NOT book here. I also asked the front desk for the managers number after seeing reviews that other people had issues getting in contact with the hotel and no one had contact info for the manager. You’d think the staff should be able to contact the manager. I’m gonna continue to call the front desk even though they never answer in hopes of speaking with a manager about a refund. This hotel is poorly run. Unsatisfied with my stay.

The Merchant LES was the perfect landing spot for us in NYC…the city view we had from our corner room was picture perfect.The rooms are modern with comfortable beds. Loved the decor. Short walk to the subway made it easy to get places quickly. Highly recommend.

Had a great stay! Room was clean, everything seemed brand new. Balcony was a super nice touch. Check-in process was so nice, no need to check in at the front desk! 2 minute walk to the subway and in a super cool neighborhood. We'll be back!

The Merchant Hotel LES was an awesome hotel stay! Great location close to the some of the hottest dinner and bar spots in downtown NYC. Easy walkability to the subway from Delancey-Essex stop. The hotel room was spacious, modern and updated, and impeccably clean. They also have a beautiful lobby, cafe, and restaurant/bar downstairs for guest. Would definitely stay again! Quiet and chic!

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The location is ideal, just about a 10-minute walk from the heart of Soho and very well connected by subway. The view over the buildings was incredible — we especially loved the large floor-to-ceiling windows, which really allowed us to fully enjoy the city skyline. We highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again on our next trip to New York.

Liked the room, staff and overall vibe of hotel. HATED the elevator and the marijuana smell throughout the hotel and especially in the room. Great location to SoHo, China town and little Italy!!

The room was big and the bed was comfy! The coffee shop in the lobby was great - a great place to work. And the rooftop bar was cute. I like the area! However, we asked them to clean our room every day and they only did the last day. Getting more towels took forever. the hot water went out right when I needed to shower before an event. The gym was INSANELY hot like unbearable.

The cleanliness of the room. The hotel was freezing throughout. The HVAC didn't seem to be working properly. The restaurant was amazing food but it wasn't comfortable due to it being freezing in the restaurant

We had an amazing time at The Merchant Hotel. Firstly - the view was gorgeous. Such amazing big windows. The room was so clean and in great condition. Good lighting. Comfy bed. Had a fridge which is a lovely bonus. The bathroom had 2 separate shower heads - perfect for a couple's shower. The room was a good temperature which considering it was 35C out was a blessing - yet it was the freezing cold air con you get in some places. The hotel had a lovely rooftop bar with fab views and nice cocktails (though not the best in the city!). There is also a little coffee bar on the ground floor. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are key-code entry which means no worrying about losing keys. Excellent location - not far from the subway and lots of cool bars around. There is a great cafe a few doors down that does amazing breakfasts ("Good Thanks") which we highly recommend. We plan to go back to NYC soon - usually we like to explore different hotels when we return somewhere but we would definitely love to stay at The Merchant again.

LOVED IT! Hotel, the location, the room, the staff, the downstairs bar (tended by Miguel), the ROOFTOP bar — everything was top drawer. And the price was right on the money. We have been bagging big hotels in favor of boutique hotels over the last few years — The Merchant is our new fave!

Not worth the money spent, the front desk girl was rude and sat on her phone every time I came back into the hotel. The elevator broke, my mobile room key stopped working, and the hotel offered zero apologies/accommodations. For a hotel charging thousands of dollars for 3 nights you’d think they’d offer something but they did not. Won’t be back!

this hotel staff is very rude specially the lady on reception! I stayed in this hotel for one night and by mistake I forgot my shirts in closet . Am calling to receptionist from last 3 days and the receptionist not responding sometimes she put me on hold . Sometimes she never answer my call ! Am fed up with staff! Don’t stay there ! They have very bad service!

I stayed here with my family of 4 in a room with 2 beds from Tuesday - Saturday. The corner view on the 8th floor was very nice. The coffee shop and restaurant, both located on the ground floor of the hotel, were great. The LES location was excellent; near two subway stops. The view from the rooftop bar was excellent. I did have a few poor experiences. First, the elevator was not operating for one day for roughly 12 hours. So, we had to climb steps to the 8th floor a few times. Next, the hotel doesn't issue physical keys nor keycards. Instead you're given a digital key via their web app on your smartphone. It failed to work a few times and I ended up needing a code to type into the key pad. The code also didn't work. When I called the front desk their phones were out. So I had to walk down 8 flights to speak to a person who walked back up 8 flights to key me into the room. Once I contacted the front desk to request fresh towels and I was told I had to come to the lobby to get them -- they either wouldn't or couldn't deliver them, which I just thought was weird. All of these negative experiences happened within a few hours on one of my four days as a guest. The staff was nice, but I never really saw anybody who seemed like they were the manager nor "in charge". In spite of all this I actually really liked this hotel.
