Xemxija Bay Hotel

The people on reception were very nice and helpful. Arrived late and was no bother at all. The apartments themselves were a decent size, just a bit dated but nothing too bad. We went before the season started so outdoor pool wasn't open. No problem though they had an indoor one. We just used it as a base and bis stop and shop just down the pathe from here.

This hotel had no bar and no restaurant open. This hotel was freezing. This hotels pool was closed and not open until May The porter opemed the bar for a couple of hours. But the beer was put of date absolute disgrace

Ok hotell men saknar väsentliga saker såsom hårtork, köksredskap mm. Dessutom var både inne och utepoolen iskalla.

Nos gustó que hubiera buena comunicación con el transporte público y dos piscinas (una interior y otra exterior). El personal muy amable.

It’s a great budget hotel and the rooms have been renovated but don’t expect the ritz. We needed somewhere to base and get some sleep and it did the job well for us. The maids came in daily if required and the rooms were not dirty but they were also not spotless (there was a squashed mosquito on the wall when we arrived which was not removed). They did let us check in early though so this may have been due to rushing getting the room cleaned for us early. The beds were comfy enough and there were extra pillows in the cupboard. The shower did the job but there was not much pressure. We were on the top floor (6th) and this room had a large balcony which was nice to sit out on in the evening. The drinks at the pool bar were a little expensive especially considering the cost of the hotel (they sold cans of Cisk for around €7 when at the bottom of the road there is a cafe that sells pints of draught Cisk for €4.50). The food at the pool was more reasonable and looked good. I had a pizza one day which was basic but did the job for €9 The staff were always friendly and said hello and goodbye with a smile. The pool itself is a really good size and could (with some money put into it) be an amazing space, but it looks like it was built in the 80s and now looks dated and a little run down. Again it was nice for a dip and I wouldn’t call it dirty. It was very cold though but luckily the weather was warm so it was ok to cool down. If you want something basic, this hotel is fine

Room was clean but obviously old, room was very hot, air conditioning and fan loud. Also poor bed and liud noises during night.

Das Apartment war groß und sauber. Aölerdimgs hatte es von der Optik nicht viel mit den modernen Bildern bei Hotel.com gemeinsam. Es war recht altbacken. Der Ofen schloss nicht richtig und die Fernseher mussten erst einmal eingeschaltet werden. Während unseres Aufenthaltes stand zweimal plötzlich ein Mitarbeiter im Zimmer, obwohl wor den Schlüssel nicht abgegeben haben. Einmal haben wir das € 8.00 teure Buffet gegönnt. Es war seeehr einfach aber man konnte satt werden. Das Highlihht war die Poolanlage gegenüber vom Hotel. Schöne Pools und sehr sauber.

We are regular guests at this hotel (previously known as Porto Azzurro aparthotel), however, on our most recent stay in July 2025, since the "refurbishment" in March, we can confirm that the place has deteriorated. It was never anything fancy, but it used to be a nice, quiet, relaxing place to stay. Not anymore! The only real improvement is the reception desk but that's the least important aspect of a stay. We were allocated room 410 with 'sea view'. It was well equipped with oven, microwave, fridge, balcony. The room itself is nothing special. The air conditioning is old and omits a foul smell, god knows what bacteria is lurking inside the unit. Regarding room cleaning, I'm not sure it was cleaned during the 8 nights we were there. The towels were changed daily, however, they are very small. The biggest disappointment is the pool area. From morning until night there is loud AI music blasting from the speakers around the pool. I don't know what kind of vibe they're trying to create but it's certainly not a good one. Also the sun loungers are uncomfortable and all cramped together under big umbrellas which means the whole area is shaded. That defeats the object of being on holiday in Malta when one comes for the sun. Our biggest gripe was when the pool / bar attendant asked everybody to move from the sunny side of the pool deck to the shady side when it got to 6pm so that they could set up tables and chairs for the evening diners. We are reluctant to return for these reasons

Poca organizzazione al ceckin ti fanno aspettare molto tempo e cè solo una persona lenta ...che fa accomodare le persone per non averle in fila e per non far vedere la fila che crea . Struttura vecchia e piscina sporca e messa male. Aria condizionata che non puoi gestire perchè impostata da loro e senza il telecomando..assurdo.

Struttura vetusta che necessiterebbe manutenzione. Pulizia inesistente, in due giorni non sono stati cambiati asciugamani e neache pulito la camera. Frigo che perdeva acqua ogni volta che lo aprivo. Piscina gradevole di fronte all hotel. Qualitá prezzo davvero pessima

Ett bra hotell med pool rakt över gatan. Rena rum, men lite hård säng för min smak. Tyst och lungt området, men nära till testauranger, butik och kollektivtrafik. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal

We had a very good experience. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean, the pool was so nice and I loved that there were umbrellas for shade. The balcony was a great addition. The beds could have been more comfortable but not bad. The A/C in the room was excellent

Unser Zimmer lag zusätzlich im Keller, wo es ultrakalt war und nie ein einziger Sonnenstrahl zu sehen war. Wir nannten es stets liebevoll das Verließ. Außerdem ist in der Nähe wirklich gar nichts. Also das ist schon fast übertrieben. Das hauseigene Restaurant ist auch nicht wirklich zu empfehlen, da man fast nichts bestellen kann und außerdem werden viele Komponenten eines Gerichts einfach weggelassen. Das war nicht so toll. Also nochmal würden wir nicht wiederkommen. Aber zu deren Verteidigung: Immerhin war es günstig und der Reinigungsservice war ausgezeichnet.

+ (Vorteile) Großer Pool mit vielen Liegemöglichkeiten, kleines Restaurant am Pool mit kleinen Snacks und kühlen Getränken. Großes Zimmer mit Balkon. Bushaltestelle in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Hotel, sehr gute Anbindung. - (Nachteile) Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und hat Renovierungsstau. Die Türen knirschen, der Abfluss stinkt und das Reinigungsteam lässt ebenfalls zu wünschen übrig. Zimmer wurde zwar jeden Tag gereinigt, allerdings nur oberflächlich, sodass wir Würmer in der Dusche entdeckten. Auch die Bettwäsche war von Beginn an dreckig und wurde bei der „Reinigung“ einfach nur umgedreht. Wer englisches Frühstück mag, kann sich mit Bohnen, Speck und Eiern zufrieden geben. Ansonsten sollte man lieber auswärts frühstücken. Der Frühstücksraum besitzt keine Fenster sodass man sich eher wie in einer Abstellkammer fühlt. Der Pool schließt leider schon um 19:00 Uhr, sodass man nach einem Ausflug/Tagestrip leider nicht die Möglichkeit hat sich noch im Pool abzukühlen. Fazit: Hotel für einen Low-Budget Urlaub mit Pool und guter Anbindung jedoch stimmt hier das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis leider nicht

Personal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück Zimmer und Wasserqualitätsind unserer Meinung sehr schlecht. Zimmer absolut schlecht renoviert! Da kommt kein wohlfühlfaktor auf.Zum Frühstück nur Toast und harte Brötchen. Pool so trüb das man seine Füße nicht sehen kann und die liegen sind mit schimmel versehen. Aussenansicht der Hotelanlage auch nicht besonders einladend. Wir können die Bewertung auf der Seite von Expedia absolut nicht nachvollziehen! Wir kommen nicht wieder.

The staff were excellent, on our first night the TVs were not working properly and one member of staff came to our room and spent half an hour resetting the channels and even went and found extra remote controls as there was only 1 in the room for 3 TVs, this despite the fact he was actually heading home when I went to the front desk and asked for assistance. All of the staff were super helpful. The rooms were very clean and we were able to choose when they were cleaned during the stay. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. The rooms were a good size, and it was great to have a kitchen area and a living room area, but although both rooms had small balconies, only one actually faced the outside of the hotel, the other facing into a wall which meant that the living area and one of the bedrooms were quite dark, even during the day. The patio area that did face the outside of the hotel was lovely though, it overlooked a busy little cafe and we enjoyed sitting and watching the world go by. We had plenty of pillows and towels and the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers etc. Shower gel and hand wash were also provided. Breakfast was a bit repetitive, but there was plenty and the hot drinks were very good! The pool area was great, with plenty of sunbeds and an attached restaurant for lunch/dinner and a great cocktail happy hour.

Bokade ett rum med havsutsikt och balkong, fick först ett extremt slitet rum utan balkong. Dagen efter så fick jag ett bättre rum med balkong. Hade de inte fixat ett nytt rum så hade jag troligen flyttat. Det första rummet var deppigt. Frukost okej och personal var trevlig.

This hotel for me was In a great location, the price was excellent for a week’s stay. The pool and outdoor restaurant were really good. I did have breakfast once and it was 10 euro and it had a great selection of food and drinks. All the staff I met and interacted with were amazing. The only negative I’d have to say is the comfort of the beds, I even asked other guests to ensure it wasn’t just my room, but the mattress’s are horrible, I mean if your out all day and want a good nights sleep, you won’t get it. Luckily I had two beds in my room and being a solo traveler I took all the bedding plus my extra bathroom towels and put them down on top of the mattress to make it a little more bearable. Anyways besides the bad beds everything else was great here.

My only disappointment was booked a room with balcony and pool view but got a room with a back alley view. On arrival showed my booking to the guy on reception and he said no room available!!

This was a 1 night stay only! The rooms were very ‘tired’! In need of a full refurbishment! Room we was offered was not what was shown on the website. There was no plug sockets next to the bed, which I needed for my apnoea machine…All furnishings look years old (doors, baths, those with kitchenettes, balcony furniture etc) We was moved to another room which did have sockets next to the bed (as shown on the website), the room looked like it had perhaps recently been poorly painted, but again all furnishings really do need replacing. The bed was really firm, but for me that was comfortable, so I did have a good nights sleep. Although we didn’t use it, the ‘nature reserve’ pool & bar area opposite for guest use did look very inviting. There are no tea/coffee provisions, but the rooms do have a kettle & fridge. Could not fault the staff and Joana on reception was extremely helpful, as was the morning reception staff. Buffet breakfast was very basic, with only 2 cereal options, no alternative milk/bread options & a no frills hot option English style breakfast.

Das ausgewählte Zimmer (Doppelzimmer Penthouse) war schön groß und hatte eine wunderbar große Terrasse mit toller Aussicht. Allerdings fehlte auf dieser Terrasse eine Sonnenliege (die ich mir dann selbst von einer angrenzenden Abstellterrasse geholt habe) und vorallendingen ein Sonnenschutz. Die Sonne scheint von morgens bis abends auf diese Terrasse, ohne dass man die Möglichkeit hat, Schatten zu bekommen. Die Bereitstellung eines Sonnenschirmes ist unbedingt nötig ! Ausserdem war die Wohnung sehr dreckig. Auf allen Möbeln und Lichtschaltern waren Fingerspuren und Dreck zu sehen. Die Böden waren staubig und dreckig. Die Toiletten waren dreckig. Das ist alles sehr schade, denn das ZImmer ist wirklich sehr schön. Ich war 12 Tage in dem Zimmer und habe mir die nötigstenSachen selbst geputzt , um mich wohl zu fühlen.

Appartement spacieux et bien équipé, literie confortable, climatisation très efficace. Point négatifs, la vue de notre appartement n'était pas top.

Hotel was ok, bit old but it's not worth the money we have paid. We were asked to pay 24 euros on top of what we paid because for some reason children age was not stated. Our booking was for 2 adults and 2 children but children age showed as 0 age, I don't know how as you can't really select 0, as 0 is for infant. Totaling the money we paid we could get much better hotel. Thee are no instructions how to get to the hotel, despite my request how it get there and for any directions nobody replied to my request. We had to take a taxi as we traveled in the evening. Receptionist was rude and only he was care about charging us extra for the kids, taxes. There was no remote control for the TV I guess you need to ask and who knows they would charge for that too. I would not recommend to friends and family and would not go back there.

Great place to stay as a solo traveler peaceful plenty of sun beds lovely pool clean good sized room with a little balcony. Special thanks to Jacob for putting sun lotion on my back (solo traveler) and just a genuine polite young man an absolute asset to your hotel and to Stephan on reception for your kindness on my last evening and as I had booked early I had complimentary breakfast I’ve had a great stay!

Extremely basic family accommodation, it was ok at best for a 3 star and way below what you’d expect from an 8/10 ‘exceptional’ hotels.com ranking was fine but dated and nothing left for us , no tea / Coffee etc . Breakfast was ok but served in a windowless room with zero decor . FOH we’re arguing when we arrived . We got a puncture outside the hotel as the roads are just full of debris . It’s 3 star so This is not an 8/10 exceptional hotel .

Het was een heel fijn appartement, het zwembad was heel mooi. De afstand naar het strand was ver en er was veel verkeer op de doorgaande weg in de buurt.

The location is great with the bus stops, view, convenient store, and quick food options like eeetwell! The staff was kind & hotel was also fine. The room I had was okay, no view, but everything functioned. I didn't check out the pool or their meal options, but basic English breakfast was offered for €10. They also allowed baggage storage. It was good for my 1 night stay.

Loved our stay at Xemxija Hotel. Had a self contained apartment. Staff were lovely and everything you need around or a short bus journey.

My only real complaint was the hill that gad to be negotiated wgen heading for the bus and the distance to the beach. Pool was nice. A hot tub would be a giod addition. When construction is done it will be even better.

Pues el hotel está bien por el precio. Cosas que no me gustaron las toallas no se ven bien , no tienen parqueadero es de lo más complicado si vas en carro y es lejos de la zona central.

Nyoppusset. Rent og pent med positivt personale. Godt budsjettvalg. Flott poolarea. Nær busstopp som tar deg alle steder. Enkelt å parkere. Aircondition bare om natten (ingen fjernkontroll), men fikk varmeovn (Kaldt inne i januar). Mini TV med dårlig lyd.

Godt beliggende hotel og flot udsigt fra vores værelse. Boede i penthouse lejlighed på toppen med udsigt over bugten. Nyere dato. Andre lejligheder af ældre dato. Bus, indkøbsmulighed og flot natur tæt på. Kun få, men gode spisesteder tæt på. Hotellet er af ældre dato bærer præg af det. Det er slidt, men fungerer. Poolen er fin og 150 cm dyb overalt. Fin poolbar og venligt og hjælpsomt personale i receptionen også. Restaurant og shop på hotellet var lukket af ukendt årsag. Ingen info herom. Dejligt udgangpunkt for en ferie med oplevelser, og stand som forventet 3*** nok med pil ned.

Si l'on est pas trop pointilleux, l'appartement est très convenable pour le prix. L'ensemble nécessiterait un peu d'entretien tout de même. Sinon la vue est top, la localisation est idéale pour le bus, la plage et rejoindre Saint-Paul à pied est tout à fait réalisable (environ 30min).

The hotel was great. Easy parking, good location. Rooms and pool were nice. We did the half board, and the dinner could have been better. The food options were okay, but the dessert was disappointing. Kids were excited about the soft serve machine but the ice cream was just watery sweet. I liked the dinner convenience, but the quality needs improvement.

It was a good hotel just like always. It is simple but has all you need even for a long stay. Here only a few inputs: maybe have a special lamp to keep away fruits flies from the breakfast buffet and offer butter and margarine. Also the towls do not need washing daily, maybe a note such as e.g „towels in the shower mean washing, other towels will not be washed“ would be a useful ideal and help the hotel save costs and Malta water

The rooms were a good size, and it was great to have a kitchen area and a living room area, but although both rooms had small balconies, only one actually faced the outside of the hotel, the other facing into a wall which meant that the living area and one of the bedrooms were quite dark, even during the day. The patio area that did face the outside of the hotel was lovely though, it overlooked a busy little cafe and we enjoyed sitting and watching the world go by. We had plenty of pillows and towels and the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers etc. Shower gel and hand wash were also provided. Breakfast was a bit repetitive, but there was plenty and the hot drinks were very good! The pool area was great, with plenty of sunbeds and an attached restaurant for lunch/dinner and a great cocktail happy hour.

Extremely basic family accommodation, it was ok at best for a 3 star and way below what you’d expect from an 8/10 ‘exceptional’ hotels.com ranking was fine but dated and nothing left for us , no tea / Coffee etc . Breakfast was ok but served in a windowless room with zero decor . FOH we’re arguing when we arrived . We got a puncture outside the hotel as the roads are just full of debris . It’s 3 star so This is not an 8/10 exceptional hotel .
