Really enjoyed our stay, though I wish I had brought my dog! Short girls' trip with my bestie. The property was easy to find, was very clean, and had literally everything we needed for our short stay - exactly as advertised. Comfy beds, fluffy towels, well equipped kitchen, and the porch was lovely in the evening. Not too far from the Shenandoah park entrance. Other than an hour or 2 of iffy WiFi (probably weather related) everything went great. Would happily return!

Great cabin with toasty fireplace and amenities to make both humans and canine companions happy. Our pooch loved the elevated dog bed and we loved the back deck and smores. Communication with owner was helpful and quick.

This cabin was just as it appeared in the listing. Communication with the owner was great and we had no issues finding it and getting in. The cabin was well stocked with dishes, cookware, and plenty of towels. We enjoyed playing some of the board games and the smores kit was a fun touch. Location was truly quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. The cabin was close to Shenandoah and the town of Luray. One thing to be aware of- there are only window coverings on the glass doors in the bedrooms. The smaller windows higher up on the walls are uncovered. If you are a light sleeper or want to sleep in this can be disruptive. Overall would recommend for a quiet, comfortable family retreat.

Family and I loved our stay at Whistling Woods Retreat! Relax by the fire and take in the blue ridge mountains! Short drive to luray and Shenandoah national park. Tons of games and places to explore on the property for the kids. Definitely Recommend !

Place was clean and just like the pics. Me and my dog Boomer needed a few days of fishing, relaxing and hiking and got just that. Fire pit in back was just what the doctor ordered. Will definitely be back and thank you for the hospitality;)

We had a fantastic time at the cabin. Definitely need a car with hug clearances to get to the cabin safely but once there all you need awaits you. Clearly marked amenities and privacy to enjoy nature as a family. The board games and puzzles and s’mores were excellent touches.

This place was amazing! There was so much care and attention to detail on the part of the hosts. From the labeled light switches to the fluffy towels, it is clear that the hosts are thoughtful about making their guests as comfortable as possible in their cabin. We spent a lot of time on the back deck roasting marshmallows and looking out for families of deer to pass by. It was quiet and cozy and just what we needed.

Whispering Woods was just perfect for a couples getaway weekend. The cabin was immaculate. The fireplace was beautiful and really sets the stage for a getaway. The home is well equipped. Access was super easy and the location was very peaceful and private. We loved this place and will definitely be back.

We stayed at Whispering Woods for 4 lovely nights as we explored Luray, Shenandoah, and Harrisonburg. It’s exactly as cozy and charming as it is in the pictures! Open living space, clean comfy bedroom, and beautiful location. We brought our 2 Boston terriers and they loved it even more than we did! We appreciated the dog-friendly touches throughout. We’d love to come back!

Lovely cabin with wood burning fireplace and beautiful morning views. We were only there one night, so really didn’t get a chance to check out the amenities. We had problems regulating the room temperature with the split systems. It had rained prior to and during our stay so the dirt road leading to the property was a bit challenging. Definitely recommend an AWD vehicle if there’s inclement weather. Cabin was very clean except for the bathtub and well stocked. Great yard for pets and firewood was supplied.

My stay here amounted to 3 days - 2 nights. It is a lovely cabin and the location is quiet and perfect to just relax. I am going to get into different points and hopefully this will help you with your choice. Location There is the one street to get onto the property and both have a pretty decent incline. We were in a truck so we didnt have an issue. The street is dirt with loose gravel over top so be careful. The river is about a 1/4 mile away. It is not a bad walk at all but remember the hill to the cabin is a bit steep so of you walk i suggest sneakers with good traction or hiking footwear. The river is gorgeous and has little trails you can walk beside it. Outside the cabin There is a back patio where you can use the firepit with some lounge chairs. There is a small electric grill on the patio. Im not sure if it works because i did not use it. It needed to be cleaned and i was going to clean it. Inside the cabin Beautiful and very comfortable (even the beds). The windows do not have curtains so there is no privacy if thats what you are looking for. That didnt bother me much. The two bedrooms do have curtains to cover the sliding doors that lead to the patio from each room. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, plates, cups, utensils etc. Just wash what you use before you start using it. Some stuff was a little dirty. I had to clean the bathroom it was a bit dirty and im a clean freak. So, i would bring some stuff to clean. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay.

We arrived and found out the beds were dirty. I messaged the host about the incident, and the response was prolonged. After 30 minutes, they told me they were trying to understand the issue. It was already 10 pm, and I decided to leave the property with my family and go to a hotel. Vrbo and Expedia have told me that only on case of life danger I would have right to get a refund. Very bad experience

Wow! This property sits in the most perfect spot! Breathtaking views everywhere you turn! The cabin was very clean and we appreciated the nice gestures from the host. The cabin was perfect for our little family. The pup loved the window in front of the cabin so she could watch her “squirrel TV”… simply beautiful… we had the best time and we will definitely come back! Jessica was very prompt in responding and very knowledgable about the things to do in and around the area.

The house was 100% up to par with the photos and description of the listing. The house was clean and exactly the cozy getaway we were looking for. As stated on the listing there are two motion sensing camera on either side of the house. These cameras trigger floodlights. Most windows on the house don't have blinds. The sensor at the front of the house must have been bugged or set up improperly because it was triggered every 15 minutes or so with absolutely no discernable reason. No animals to be seen, and I doubt it was wind/leaves because the floodlight on the other side of the house basically never went off. I wouldn't have expected that to be an issue except that all throughout the night the main bedroom was partially filled with the light of the floodlight. There wasn't really a way to block the light from coming in the high window with no blinds. We knew that it was likely mistakenly triggering throughout the night but it can definitely be unnerving when you're staying in a remote mountaintop cabin and the motion sensor floodlight goes off 5 times every hour. This did affect my sleep. If we stayed more than one night I definitely would've had the host out to check the light. The house was in top condition otherwise and we really did enjoy our stay.

My older kids and I enjoyed the comforts of the cabin after spending our days hiking, canoeing, exploring the Caverns and surrounding towns. The drive into town felt a little long at times, but it was beautiful and worth it to have the privacy and quiet.

We stayed for 4 nights at this cabin in Luray. It’s very cute and just as described. The cabin has beautiful views on both sides and is perfect if you want some peace and quiet in nature. Our kids loved the nice touch with the s’mores welcome kit and we immediately made a fire and s’mores upon arrival. Beds were comfy and clean and this location is very pet friendly and our dog enjoyed it just as much as we did. We stayed for 4 nights at this cabin in Luray. It’s very cute and just as described. The cabin has beautiful views on both sides and is perfect if you want some peace and quiet in nature. Our kids loved the nice touch with the s’mores welcome kit and we immediately made a fire and s’mores upon arrival. Beds were comfy and clean and this location is very pet friendly and our dog enjoyed it just as much as we did. I only had to reach out to the owner once to ask something and she was very quick to respond and follow up. My niece and myself spent two nights at the cabin. It is conveniently located close to Luray, Shenandoah, and Harrisonburg. Most of the needed amenities are available including coffee and tea. One thing to be aware of- there are NO window coverings or shades in the house, only window coverings on the glass doors in the bedrooms. The smaller windows higher up on the walls are uncovered. For two girls, it was very uncomfortable during night time, especially the outside gate is open and the combination for the lock that was given to us was not working. We also heard several gun shots very close to the cabin, which made us uncomfortable and not feeling safe!

Great cabin with toasty fireplace and amenities to make both humans and canine companions happy. Our pooch loved the elevated dog bed and we loved the back deck and smores. Communication with owner was helpful and quick.

Very much enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Quiet and relaxing location away from the crowds at Shenandoah NP and the Luray attractions. Cabin very well appointed and thorough information. Great property for dogs. Definitely recommend it.

The cabin and owner were very nice. The stone fireplace was beautiful. It was the perfect size for what we needed and our puppy loved playing in the yard. We were forewarned about the bugs and they were certainly abundant. The stink bugs crawled under the door and let themselves in day and night. Not a problem for us but you should know they are impossible to keep out. My only complaint would be that I was disappointed that I couldn't get my car (I have a convertible) in the yard. The road up to the cabin was hard packed and filled with terrible, deep potholes. Once we got to the driveway, it was impossible to get the car over the threshold because it turned to loose gravel with a pothole so deep the car almost got stuck. I had to park across the street under trees and was worried the whole time a walnut (or whatever the nuts are falling from the trees) would go through my softtop. If you dont mind the bugs and drive a truck, this is a great location. The owner responds quickly to your requests.

This cabin was just as it appeared in the listing. Communication with the owner was great and we had no issues finding it and getting in. The cabin was well stocked with dishes, cookware, and plenty of towels. We enjoyed playing some of the board games and the smores kit was a fun touch. Location was truly quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. The cabin was close to Shenandoah and the town of Luray. One thing to be aware of- there are only window coverings on the glass doors in the bedrooms. We arrived and found out the beds were dirty. I messaged the host about the incident, and the response was prolonged. After 30 minutes, they told me they were trying to understand the issue. It was already 10 pm, and I decided to leave the property with my family and go to a hotel. Vrbo and Expedia have told me that only on case of life danger I would have right to get a refund. Very bad experience

Cabin was great! Location was perfect: nice & quiet and close to activities. Everything was included in the cabin & the stuff to make S’mores was a nice touch! We had a great time, and our dog had the time of his life swimming in the creek. Host was awesome and responded quickly to our inquiries!

Wow! This property sits in the most perfect spot! Breathtaking views everywhere you turn! The cabin was very clean and we appreciated the nice gestures from the host. The cabin was perfect for our little family. The pup loved the window in front of the cabin so she could watch her “squirrel TV”… simply beautiful… we had the best time and we will definitely come back! Jessica was very prompt in responding and very knowledgable about the things to do in and around the area.

Really enjoyed our stay, though I wish I had brought my dog! Short girls' trip with my bestie. The property was easy to find, was very clean, and had literally everything we needed for our short stay - exactly as advertised. Comfy beds, fluffy towels, well equipped kitchen, and the porch was lovely in the evening. Not too far from the Shenandoah park entrance. Other than an hour or 2 of iffy WiFi (probably weather related) everything went great. Would happily return!

Lovely cabin with wood burning fireplace and beautiful morning views. We were only there one night, so really didn’t get a chance to check out the amenities. We had problems regulating the room temperature with the split systems. It had rained prior to and during our stay so the dirt road leading to the property was a bit challenging. Definitely recommend an AWD vehicle if there’s inclement weather. Cabin was very clean except for the bathtub and well stocked. Great yard for pets and firewood was supplied.

Family and I loved our stay at Whistling Woods Retreat! Relax by the fire and take in the blue ridge mountains! Short drive to luray and Shenandoah national park. Tons of games and places to explore on the property for the kids. Definitely Recommend !

My older kids and I enjoyed the comforts of the cabin after spending our days hiking, canoeing, exploring the Caverns and surrounding towns. The drive into town felt a little long at times, but it was beautiful and worth it to have the privacy and quiet.

We had a fantastic time at the cabin. Definitely need a car with hug clearances to get to the cabin safely but once there all you need awaits you. Clearly marked amenities and privacy to enjoy nature as a family. The board games and puzzles and s’mores were excellent touches.

My wife infant and myself stayed on the property which has everything you need to enjoy your trip. Ramp access to the river is a minute drive. The cabin is also close to town with plenty of options to eat at.

The nicest thing about this property was its location. We enjoyed the privacy and have a wooded view. It was nice that the owners provided pet bowls, blankets and a bed which was much appreciated. We also appreciated the Kurig coffee maker and s"mors supplies. The water pressure was fantastic as well as the A/C which was much needed during our stay. The master bedroom bed was sufficient but we did sleep in different beds because of its size. The description stated that the property was fenced it but you cannot close off the yard with the gates which are fixed in place and the fence does not surround much of the property. This was a bit inconvenient as we were very much looking forward to playing with our pup in the yard. The major safety issue was the deck which seemed very unstable and shook each time we walked on it. There were also some rotting boards and no care was given to make the deck presentable by cleaning it or the chairs. Inside, the property needed a deep cleaning. The windows were dirty as was the aluminum around the stove burners. We found mouse droppings on the shelves in the kitchen. There was a white stain on the couch. The baseboards and tile grout has not been cleaned in quite some time. The bath mat hanging in the bathroom had dirty footprints on it and the guest blanket throws smelled funky so not sure when they were last washed. Additionally, the hair dryer wouud not fit in the outlet provided.
