Comfort Inn & Suites Rapid City South - Mt Rushmore Gateway

This place is not too bad. It\'s clean and their pool is bigger than other hotels we\'ve went to, probably has the deepest one too 5\'10. They also have a hot tub and sauna. The food is okay, normal breakfast - eggs, sausages, waffle (regular and blueberry). If you like working out, don\'t expect too much with their gym facility. A lot of the equipments were broken or almost broken, it looks like it was just there as decorations. Also, when it was checkout time and you\'re not out there sooner than they wanted, they will knock at your door and say "just checking" (we haven\'t experience this before). Check out time is before 11am. It was around 10am and 10:30am when the two housekeepers knocked on our room. It felt like they are rushing us to check out (we checked out around 10:45). Their location is pretty close to the places we wanted to go, such as Reptile Garden and Bear Country. There\'s also a Ruby Tuesdays few steps down from the hotel. Overall, it\'s a good place to stay.

Stayed there for 6 nights. Room was great and the location was nice just on the edge of town close to food and didn’t have to drive thru the town to see the sites. The hot tub was broke the whole time we were there and the pool was cool and not very warm.

Nice staff, clean rooms. Awesome pool and hot tub . Nice breakfast. Eggs and sausage, waffles and all the good stuff. Stayed just one night with the kids on a road trip. Good choice. Ruby’s Tuesday restaurant and bar right next door and gas station. Would definitely stay again.

The elevator is under maintenance. I had a hard time getting my luggage up and down to the third floor.

Overall, our four-night stay was excellent, except that the hot tub and sauna were not working. Breakfast was good, except the coffee (Choice brand) was awful. Had to buy coffee from outside. The housekeeping was good. They provide fresh lemon drinking water near the front desk was excellent.

I stay here because they have a great pool, hot tub, and sauna. the rooms are always clean also the rooms have attached Livingroom for extra space.

I’m very glad that the showers and drains ran properly! First thing I look for now when staying at a hotel. Swimming area was spacious with a small hot tub and sauna included. Breakfast was amazing with options of cooked eggs/bacon/sauges some days. Staff kept the breakfast room clean and well stock the whole time! My only issue, please remember to also clean inside the dressers as there were crumbs in ours that I had to clean myself. Overall, I would stay here again!

Very clean and comfortable. Good free breakfast buffet. LAUNDRY room says available. However they only have 1 working washer and 1 working dryer. When I asked Desk Manager she siad we are waiting for those to be fixed. Well the sign on the washer had been there a long time.

Staff were wonderful. Room clean, beds comfortable and breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious. Pool was freezing cold and hot tub was not very hot. Location was fantastic!

Elevator not working.

Check in was easy and customer service was excellent. Room was clean and nice. I stay here frequently because of the friendly staff and nice rooms, with comfortable beds and pillows.

Room was clean but the furniture was old (1970) decor, carpet was dirty throughout the hotel, friendly staff, okay breakfast.

Toilet seat loose ....mold growing on bathroom door hinges..lamp by bed didnt work had to change out with table lamp....internet crappy, couldnt watch Netflix ...TV had dead pixels in screen. Security latch on door very loose. All in all its very disappointing staying here.

Hotel was good location and quiet. Fitness equipment all very old and most of it does not work properly. Pool, hot tub, sauna all great. Room 221 cleanliness disappointing. The area around the microwave has not been dusted in a very long time, you can see the layer of dust. In the bathroom, stains on shower curtain, smears on walls in room and bathroom. Bottom of toilet not cleaned in a long time, dusty, hairs on it, and something pink on it-gross. Shelves in bathroom where your towels are have not been cleaned in forever, layers of dust. I actually took a wash cloth and wiped the shelves down, left it sitting on the counter black. The floor when you walk in the middle of the room sinks down. Beds not very comfortable and comforter on 1 bed had stains.

Unfolded sleeper sofa to find that previous guests linens and garbage had been folded into sofa and not checked or cleaned. Upon calling the front desk, received an apology and was told I could come down and get new sheets. Appears room was not vacuumed, or vacuumed very poorly.

Found two hair pins between the sheets. The courtesy shampoo, conditioner, lotion were 1/2 empty. Other than that, it was good.

This hotel stay was a mixed bag for me. Cleanliness - the room itself had been cleaned well. There were some dark spots on the tile in the bathroom that were stains and I'm not sure of the cause but I was worried it might be mold. It didn't seem damp enough but it was a bit disconcerting. The pool area was clean. The main issue was throughout the hotel the carpets really need to be replaced. There are stains throughout the hallways and bedrooms and although I saw staff using a steam cleaner, the stains would not budge. We also found a few roly polies in our room, which makes me wonder about moisture. Beds - the beds seemed quite firm when I first sat on them but ended up being extremely comfortable for my whole family and we slept well. There want a ton of hotel noise to bother us, especially with the A/C fan running. Promised amenities - the A/C did an excellent job cooling the room even in 105 degree weather, which is a big deal. The breakfast was decent - eggs, sausage/bacon, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagels and toast were all available each morning. The meal wouldn't earn any culinary prizes but everyone in the family found something they liked and left full. The hot tub was out of order the entire time we were there which is a bummer because it was one of the reasons I chose this hotel over another. I get the impression it's been not working for some time. I might stay here again, but would look around first for better deals/amenities.

The staff was very friendly and informative. The room is spacious and clean except the mini fridge wasn't cleaned out from the previous guests. I found the beds to be super comfy!

Very close to Mount Rushmore. Very clean and excellent customer service.

The chairs and sofa in the room were not very comfortable. The pillows are on the small side.

Can hear everything said in the next room. Walls are paper thin. Can also hear people walking upstairs...back and forth, back and forth.

Itd was a good stay but the only thing i didnt like is the TV we hardly had any channels,

Friendly staff. Our room was right by the stairwell and exit, so alot of banging against wall. Would likely stay again, just pick a room away from exit. We had to leave a day earlier due to some home emergency.

Everything was fine, except the comfort level of the bed. It was so hard that my husband and I hardly got any sleep. That made for a long & painful day of travel.

Great location, very spacious king suite. Room was very comfortable with many comforts such as microwave, mini fridge, small kitchen sink, and sofa area. Bathroom products were Dove which is a step above many other brands. Location was very quiet although room walls are thin, we could easily hear folks in the hall and adjacent rooms. Breakfast choices were adequate although I would suggest a second coffee/tea station. This area was clogged and crowded every morning.

Room was clean and tidy. Shower curtain rod was a bit broken and tilted down allowing the curtain to slide towards the middle so the floor got a bit wet.

Older property, needs to be updated, no plugs for charging phones etc, starting to show wear , carpets etc, pillows horrible thin and old

I’ve stayed here several times tonight was the best check in ever . The lady at the front desk was very kind and courteous .

The receptionist was especially friendly and helpful and the breakfast supervision was exceptionally kind to a family who came late to breakfast.

Always love staying here. I received bad customer service at my last visit but this time it was excellent. I did not see the worker there that was unfriendly this time. All was great, staff was helpful as usual and friendly. I recommend this place for travelers.

Love the hotel, ammenities and the pool! Clean and fabulous. Ive stayed here frequently but and it's a big BUT the check in clerk was very questionative like asking 'if ive stayed before' and doing a size up of me. Very awkward and uncomfortable. Very unprofessional and rude. I did use the Hotels link and am a rewards member of the hotel chain but told her Hotels was cheaper so i went that route But it was a very uncomfortable and awkward moment for me.

This hotel is amazing. We were in town because we had a baby in the NICU. When our baby was released they allowed us to cancel remaining nights so easily. That saved us money at a time that really could have hurt. Hotel is also clean and well cared for. We will definitely stay here again if we ever need to be in the hospital again.

Easy access from highway and location is close to many restaurants.

Good area for restaurants and close to Mt Rushmore and Custer state park. Easy access great breakfasts. Lots of parking on site. No problems at all.

Close to hospital and convenient to Safeway and not to far from Downtown

Super easy to get to Mount Rushmore from here. Right on the edge of town. Lots of restaurants in area but none are particularly high end. Ie. Perkins’s and Culvers. And there is a Ruby Tuesdays basically on the same lot.

This is the perfect location when travelling to Rapid City for health care appointments. It has always been neat, clean and well kept. Offers a nice variety of breakfast options. Definitely my go to place to stay for these visits.

NICE ACCOMMODATIONS AND VERY COMFORTABLE. GREAT LOCATION TO SEE THE SIGHTS OF THE BLACK HILLS.

We stayed here because of ease of access to the nearby medical facilities. It was quiet even though it was a full house.

Very pleased with the quiet location and hotel cleanliness. Even great walking distance and convenience pointing towards food, shopping and Mount Rushmore.

the breakfast had a lot of healthy options and plenty of good traditional items. i was impressed with the breakfast selection and quality! parking was easy and assessable.

We had the luck of having tour buses staying both nights we were at the comfort inn. So breakfast was too crowded to sit or get to the food. Great location and have stayed here before but will check other options next time
