Monarto Safari Resort

Lovely stay in an amazing environment. Well worth the trip

Spacious room with great decor, wonderful balcony, comfortable bed, great range of toiletries and a lovely modern bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

This review is just about the resort not the safari park, which was really good. We had a number of problems, which weren't very well dealt with. While transfers from the Resort to the Park were fine, getting back wasn't good. The first time we needed a transfer, it took so long, the park staff were about to give us a lift. The second time, the transfer just didn't turn up so after more than 30 minutes waiting, the park staff did give us a lift. The AC was also a real problem. The weather was cold so we put it on heating at a fairly low temperature but it just kept getting hotter and hotter. We switched to cooling at a warmer temperature and the reverse happened. We reported it and somebody supposedly did something but it was exactly the same the second night. We stayed at three other nearby hotels in the same weather and didn't have the problem at any of them. There were also minor issues. There were no dressing gowns, there were only one each of the decaf and chocolate pods and our part-used soap and milk were replaced with new ones which is very wasteful. The plague to modern hotels, a flat bottomed basin, means a real waste of water. Breakfast was reasonable but not very well arranged. On the positive side, the room was dark and quiet, the beds were comfortable and it was great to be able to see animals from the balcony.

Great place to stay, as long as you don't mind a lot of children.

The resort is well appointed and staff were friendly and helpful. Would have liked the restaurant to have a wider range of food, but what we had was tasty and well presented.
