Holiday Inn Birmingham-Airport by IHG

The AC Unit in room 802 was extremely loud. The water took a long time to get warm/hot. The locking mechanism on the room door needs to be addressed. The furniture in the room is dated. It needs an upgrade. The staff at the front desk were polite and helpful. The van drivers were professional and courteous.

It started with a 30 minute delay to check-in as rooms were not turned over yet from the previous night. The staff was polite and hospitable overall except the cleaning staff knocked AND opened my door at 9 am to get a head start on cleaning rooms. I get the impression they are not fully staffing the cleaning crew. Regarding cleanliness, there were what I assume to be beard shavings smeared on the bathroom wall adjacent to the sink. However, the most noticeable deficiency was how worn down the room looked. From a large tear in the office chair seat, to a sofa that looked like it was picked up off the curb, to the age of the carpeting. The outdoor pool did not look to be in service and had a dingy green color. The gym was usable. Ultimately, I would not stay here again.

The room was right behind the elevator so i was awaken throughout the night by the elevator cable noise. It was great that the room had a microwave; however, the room really needs updating

Room was clean, staff was nice, i did enjoy my stay. However, upon checking out, i noticed there was no breakfast. We were offered a cup of orange juice for $3.00.
