The exterior of the facility was poor-overgrown grass, cracked concrete in the parking lot. But the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The pool was also in working order. This motel has great potential.

Pool was a little dirty and could use some work but couldn’t beat the price

Check in was quick and easy. The staff member who checked me in (I forget his name; he was young with brown hair, a beard and nice smile) was very friendly. The room was nice with a full size fridge/freezer combo, microwave and coffee maker. The beds were very comfortable with fluffy pillows (I always need fluffy pillows when I sleep). The pool was normal sized and my son and I had it all to ourselves when we went to it. It was a little dirty with leaves and other debris floating and at the bottom of the pool. Even though the page says no breakfast, there was coffee and mini muffins in the lobby. Check out process was quick and easy as well. I would definitely stay here again if I needed a place to stay in Sandusky close to Cedar Point.

Nice place to stay if going to the park. The front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Pool water was clear and warm. Have stayed there twice and will be going back again in a couple weeks. It is a dated hotel but clean and perfect for what we need.

This hotel is dated and would have been amazing in the 80s. The desk staff was friendly but the place has a rundown grimy feel. The pool was dirty but could have been fine with a good skimmer and run the filter. The sketchy part was some of the people staying here.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. I'll stay again when I go back to visit cedar point. Its right down the street from the park. Everytime good the only thing was the wifi didnt work in my room, just only in the lobby when i went down. They said they was going to work on it so i'll see is it different when I go back. But in all everything was great.Their pool even was open verses to alot of hotel I been to in Sandusky when I go to cedar point.

Renovation in progress, friendly staff, short drive to Cedar Point Sports Center avoiding railroad crossing. There was no fridge in the room, but staff brought one for us. Kids enjoyed large outdoor pool.

Wifi was not accessible from the room. TV was not connected to the cable. There were used washclothes from the previous guest left in the room. I did not receive housekeeping during my stay. The outside stairs to the second floor were very unstable and felt like they could collapse soon. Decent location for a last minute booking to Ironman 70.3 Ohio, but it is in a rougher part of Sandusky. Would not recommend walking around this part of town after dark.

ROOM 171 This hotel is very out dated and very sketchy from the outside. The main lobby has been remodeled & is 2 floors with NO ELEVATOR. Our room was ok but lots of repairs that could be made. No breakfast available, which we knew up front. But also there was No refrigerator in room, No phone to call front desk, No blow dryer in the bathroom. The price was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. Staff was very friendly. All of the furniture was pushed together in to the corner of the room, the curtains are very old and falling apart so we closed them and just left them closed the 3days. No bag rack to sit your bag on so you have to keep your stuff on the bed or on the floor. Beds were comfortable for the most part. The pool was heated, but needs some work. Shower could use a little TLC as it looked dirty, but the rest of the bathroom was ok. Very small. We talked to the office staff and they had only owned the property for 2-3weeks and they was trying to get the hotel up and running. We did ask for a refrigerator and they got us one to use. We would stay here again no questions asked.

Great price! My daughter loved the pool. There is a lovely courtyard area. This could be a beautiful hotel with a little TLC. Beds were comfortable and clean. Apartment size frig and microwave. Spacious room. On the downside, our door frame was cracked and my daughter and I could not open/close the door. Property was a bit run down and dated. TV was small. Since we stayed for a Cedar Point visit, it was fine for our needs. We didn’t spend much time there.

The parking didn't look safe and everything was dirty and not clean especially the beds all around was scared to even sleep on them. The showers and toilets were dirty was scared to use that. The pictures are very deceiving. Nothing worked either. The door locks were crooked and looked like those house locks that you enter a code on. It was hot and humid. Spiders everywhere.

This hotel is dated but is ETREMELY CLEAN and well maintained. The lobby is luxurious and the rooms are a throw-back to simpler times. Will definitely be staying again.

Super comfy and clean. The two most important things in a hotel room!

We read reviews that said this place a decent and clean so we booked. Don’t believe good reviews. Our room smelled like an old ashtray we had to buy air freshener just to tolerate it. The furniture and curtains were at least 50 years old and smelled. The carpet was sticky. The property is not maintained and very outdated. It was too late to get refund, but we almost just left.

Had cockroaches in our room and they were difficult with us trying to get our money back! Ruined our whole vacation because all the other hotels were booked solid and we had to go back home!

For the price it was a nice clean room. Dated but clean and that’s all I care about

The only positive thing I can day about this hotel is that it is cheaper than other nearby hotels. Its also 10 minutes from cedar pointm Mold growing in corners of bathroom sinks, window ac units, and hallways. Hallways feel and smell like they belong in a suspense horror film abandoned decades ago. Doors do not use actual keycards like 99.99 % of hotels use. They scrible a code on a receipt and you punch it on your room door. No idea if this code is used for only 1 door or general access to get into all rooms! Broken vending machines, deteriorating parking lot, bed mattresses are bricks, walls filled with holes and yellowish paint. Save yourself the headache and spend a little more for a quality goof night sleep!

Pro- It was available at the last minute for a spontaneous trip to Cedar Point. I booked it the same day for 2 nights. The pictures looked nice. Pro: Check-in was easy. The man at the front desk was very nice. Con: Upon entering the room. We had Zero towels and NO toilet paper. Con: No phone to call front desk. Pro: Walked to front desk. They gave me towels. Con: No hairdryer. Con: No phone. To call the front desk- you must use your own cell phone Pro: I used my cell phone to order Domino's pizza and it came within 30 minutes. Con: Keyless doors. I'm sure it saves money to keep replacing keys. However, this means that the doors in the parking lot, like the back entrance- remain UNLOCKED at all times. Most hotels require guests to use their key to get into the building, to ensure that only guests are in the hotel. Not here. Anyone can just walk through the doors. Con: The lock on the inside of the room was broken. (the latch lock) Con: No alarm clocks, or no clocks at all. Again, use your phone. Con: No fridge. No microwave. The website states that all rooms have these. but they do not. Con: My youngest son, (8) forgot his toothbrush. He went to the front desk to ask for one. Was told a toothbrush would be $3. This is absurd. Pro: The shower was great. Great water pressure. We didn't come to hang out in the hotel. For the price, it was fine. We showered and slept. New owners, they are working to make it better. Housekeeping staff were screaming at each other.

If you don't get the dining plan at Cedar point, the usual big chains are nearby & Berardi's is a good local spot. Considering the price point, expect a bug sighting or 2 as the rooms lack ventilation and have a lingering mildew smell. The walls are thin so you will hear everything, don't reccommend if you're a light sleeper. The bed was comfy and the water pressure was strong. Check in was easy, attentive, and helpful.

This was pretty good for a budget hotel. The area was very quiet and we got a good night's sleep. The air conditioning system did not do a good job of pulling humidity out of the air, so the carpet and bedding felt perpetually a little sticky though.

The deadbolt on the door did not work. One of the light switches/lights in the room did not work. There were people sitting in cars late at night. Because this hotel is so close to an amusement park people are checking in late, but these people in several cars were there for long periods of time. Safety is a serious issue at this hotel. If it wasn't so late at night, I would have left. The desk staff were very pleasant though.

Rooms was clean just needed a fridge and microwave

The elevator didnt work, the wifi was not working on the 2nd floor where we were staying. I wasnt told about breakfast. I was lied to that someone was out fixing the wifi and would call me when they returned. I was told they would try to fix it or change my accommodations and nothing was done. They did give me another blanket when asked but i had to come down and get it.

The roon was clean for the most part. We cpuldnt open the door to the bathroom all the way becauze it hit the toilet. Also, the door locking mechanism was broke and the door had to be forced open and shut. Otherwise amazing!

Very affordable. Had 2 King rooms. 1 had a fridge and the other didn’t. 1 toilet had issues. 1 had a chirping smoke alarm. They quickly fixed that. The hotel has new owners and is making good upgrades but there are some things to go yet.

We stayed for 4 days the property desperately needs upgrades the beds were comfortable. The staff that works there are all very pleasant the young man doing the maintenance asked us how everything was and I said I was disappointed there wasn’t a fridge he said I’ll see what I can do when we returned we had a fridge that really helped as we had brought some drinks for after the park the lady at the front desk was awesome she was very knowledgeable about cedar point and very helpful . For the rate we paid and the closeness to cedar point can’t complain I’ve stayed in much worse down the road .Hopefully our next visit the property will have some more upgrades as I understand there are new owners and they are starting to upgrade the property. The one thing I did not like was the locks on the door they seemed a bit unsafe and not very secure in my opinion .

My partner and I stayed at the Avalon Inn for two nights while on a roadtrip. Overall, our stay was comfortable. The staff at the property were kind and accomodating; while checking in, the man who assisted us at the front desk offered to help us bring our luggage to our room which was very kind. The property itself is very out-dated and is in need of renovations; it feels straight out of the late 80's which, although charming, warrants some updates. Our room was on the second floor in an inconvenient location far from the parking lot and up rickety concrete stairs (as there no elevators close by). Despite the pictures posted of the grand courtyard, this area too is in need of repairs. Our room was clean but not the most comfortable. Our bed and sheets were noticably stiff and the faucet on our bathtub leaked constantly. Unfortunately, the hotel wifi did not work during our stay which left my partner unable to finish certain work obligations. For a short duration, the Avalon Inn provides a decent stay for a decent price; but it does not come highly recommended at this time.

I usually will give this hotel five stars but they were not being very nice to my daughter you know sorry I was running a few minutes late picking her up giving she is grown but she does have a disability and she literally left about $75 worth of food in that room and they would not let her get it out because it was past 11:00 and they just were just being rude to her and that's not acceptable in my books

Everything was fine. Sure, a tiny bit dated, but plenty clean and impossible to beat for the price. I accidentally booked for the wrong day and they fixed it. I would (and probably will) absolutely come back when visiting cedar point, as long as the secret doesn’t get out.

The manager at the desk was friendly and helpful. For the price it was really good, especially with the Keycash. It was clean enough and everything worked ok. Would probably stay there again.

As others have noted, this was recently purchased by a new owner who has experience in the hotel industry. Super friendly and accommodating. Our stay was what we wanted - close to the park and affordable. The beds were clean, the TV and fridge worked great. There was coffee and donuts in the lobby. We were 5 mins from the park. Highly recommend Zuppaman for a meal, which is 1 minute away. Good stay!

The front desk woman helped me make sure there was a refrigerator in our room so i could keep my breast milk good !!! I was away from my newborn and she made sure we had what we needed ! The price is right , exspecially if your not planning on being there n need just for sleep and showers!!

Tv was really small and it says free hbo and wifi but the tv would not change channels and the wifi sucked so bad u could'nt use it. There was a weird smell through out the building. When we got to our room there was a little ant on our bed. The lady at the front desk was very nice. Over all probably wont use that hotel ever again.

This is my 2nd time staying and I loved it even more the 2nd time around! We got to enjoy the pool and courtyard area for a pizza party. Great space! The staff is also so incredibly nice, caring, and accommodating. I am SO happy that after years of trying different hotels and being disappointed, I’ve finally found the place I’ll keep coming back to every time I’m in Sandusky, which is 10-15 times per year. Not luxury, but clean, comfortable, enjoyable and affordable.

I like that it was affordable and the staff was very friendly and easy to work with. The parking was very easy. The location was perfect for shopping and close to cedar point. The only thing I think could use fixing would be the cleanliness, it's a little outdated but other than that it's an okay hotel.

It is not updated, but for the price and location you can't complain. It is satisfactory and sufficient if you are looking for a place to sleep between Cedar Point days.

Rooms in disrepair, no safety chain on door. Advertised coffee in room no coffee in room but had coffee maker. One hot air pot in lobby with two small containers of grocery donuts, very few electric plug options. Not been updated, painted for long while. No tv remote. Manager programmed new remote when reminded later that night. Did not feel safe as an older female in surroundings.
