The only detractors for me were there was no coffee maker in room and no mini fridge. Other than that it was clean and very well appointed and the location is extremely close to all main travel arteries. Check in staff was great.

Quick and easy to get in and out. Online check out. Wifi is good and it’s quiet. Hotel is older but good for 1-2 nights and the price is right. Front desk staff is nice.

The room was super basic, though it was very clean. King bed was firm, but everything in the room worked. Front desk staff friendly at check-in and checkout. Small but important: we were surprised -- and inconvenienced -- by the lack of hair dryer. (Managers actually told me I needed a "superior" or "deluxe" room to get one!) C'mon: they're $10 at Walmart, folks. Your $75 deposit charged for 'incidentals' should cover the 'risk' of theft, don't you think? So if you stay here, bring your own.

This is a pretty basic motel. Room came with refrigerator, microwave, and safe. A/C was a bit loud, but I didn’t spend a whole lot of time there. Willie’s Bagel Cafe was right out front. Easy access to the turnpike and other highways. Delmonico’s is just down the road.

I was in Utica overnight for business the next day. I selected this hotel because it was the cheapest with acceptable reviews. Staff was friendly, room clean, no odors. Motel type setup, several buildings, all 2 floors. I liked that, I could drive right up to my room door. Noticeably old but ok for my needs that night. No mini fridge (I did not need one but some people might)

First trip was cheeper and had a microwave and a refrigerator. $187.76 I booked both trips the same evening and at the check in this past trip the front desk said my room for 2 nights was 223.00. Came home to find my card was charged $273.14 No refrigerator no microwave. No soap in shower dispenser which I asked for a refill the first morning

Went to stay the night when going into the room there was trash under the bed and on the table. I went into the bathroom and the tub had dirt all over the bottom of the tub. We had 2 adults and a 8 month old baby and was only proved 1 towel which had black spots on it. We went to front office and no one came into the lobby to talk to us. We ended up running to the store and cleaned the mess up ourselves. We were not happy.

This hotel is very grungy. Comforter and sheets were very dirty. We couldn’t even take showers because the towels were dirty. People playing loud music outside throughout the night. People also drinking alcohol all around the property. We did not feel safe at all. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The first room I was assigned was disgusting dirty - sticky floors, food wrappers under the bed, crumbs in desk area and on night stand. Also used wrapper for a cough drop next to phone, which had a yellow stained cover on it. Horrible heavy cigarette smoke odor. Comforter was stained, sheets were dingy and had yellowish stains on them, hair in my bed that wasn’t mine. Molds on door frames, cob webs WITH SPIDERS all over the room. Very dusty. Then the neighbors were partying and smoking pot, which filled my room as well as the area outside near my room. And loud - OMG - they were obnoxious loud until after 10pm. I was assigned to a new room which smelled better but upon entry there was urine and used toilet paper sitting in the toilet, hair in the bed, dingy sheets - also stained. The bathtub was filthy, brown dirt covered the non slip tread things in the bottom. Crumbs everywhere but better than the first room. They did refund me one nights stay, which was very decent. Apparently they are aware of the housekeeping situation and are working on it - there are signs in the property saying such and the checkout clerk said the same thing.

The grim appearance of the property was brightened up considerably by the cheerful woman who checked us in. The mattress was a bit old and tilted, the lighting near top of walls seemed dirty…however this was a pretty good price for the room and the shower water pressure was excellent. I would actually stay here again.

Overall, this was a decent one-night stay. I generally don’t enjoy staying in properties like this, but we don’t have much of an option on this trip. After getting up to our original room after a last minute emergency booking, we found that the room had never been cleaned from the previous guest. We went back down to get a new room and it was easily remedied—plus we were given a room on the first floor, which I prefer when I am somewhere with no elevator. The room was clean, and I appreciated the lack of gross carpet with hard floors instead which feel like a much cleaner option. The water pressure and hot water in the bathroom was honestly the best hotel shower I’ve ever had and that is saying something. Bed was comfortable enough and the room was quiet, even facing the main parking lot. No frills, no breakfast and nothing special but I would stay again if I needed to. Took off one star for the price because I don’t understand why a red roof with no extras should cost $165 for a night. Seemed very overpriced for what we got.

Staff were good when check in. Floors were so sticky and there was an envelope to leave a tip for the staff that cleaned the room. Walls are thin could here people taking showers and listening to music next door. Was good for just the night would not stay longer

Great value for the price. Nice folks. Comfy room with shower-only for mobility-impaired. Only complaint: it took a very long time to get the room warm enough to use the shower--nearly 4 hours to get to 72° but otherwise, great.

We booked this property as it was the only place with vacancy. We were visiting Utica for the Boilermaker road race and thus were charged a premium rate for the room being a “captive” audience. The general condition of the property was in disrepair. We were given a room on the second level. We went to bed early (9pm) in attempt to get rest for race day. We listened to people running the hallway, banging on doors, jumping, and screaming all night. There were a couple of people sitting outside our doorway chain smoking and the smell of cigarette smoke never left our area. At 11:30pm I approached front desk staff in attempt to get things quieted down. They appeared to be not surprised about the happenings and thus made no effort to help. We may have got 3 or 4 hours of sleep. The beds had stains on the covers and the toilet seat was broken and falling off. We considered sleeping in the car but decided to tough it out for the night. It’s shameful that this is how the hotel represents their city to visiting g guests that attend Utica for such an amazing event that draws people from all over the world. Do not book this hotel. There is a very good reason that there are rooms available when everything else is booked!

Always a great stay and they never disappoint ever I'm always impressed with my treatment and how friendly and attentive the staff is to my needs The Utica NewYork, Red Roof always delivers on the accommodations but where they excel is in customer service in this review come from someone who spent 45 years in the hospitality industry

Staff at front desk would not modify my reservation to one night when I did not have enough credit to pay for 2 nights. .They REFUSED to accept cash. The lobby looked like a WAR ZONE and was partially boarded up due to a person having recently driven their car THROUGH the front desk area. Due the staff's lack of flexibility and creative solutions I was unable to stay at Red Roof and had to find another hotel in the middle of the night. INCREDIBLY POOR SERVICE. I WILL NEVER STAY AT RED ROOF INNS AGAIN!!!!!

we had to complain about the lack of cleaning for our room . they didnt even bring towels after they said they would . we where told because we stayed from wenesday night to sunday they decided that they dont have to clean the rooms only on wenesdays . they said its so they can save money . we didint get any refunds on the room or a lower price wont be staying there ever again

They don't have any roll aways for and extra daughter that showed up and the office staff gave a key to someone else a few minutes after she gave one to me! A stranger was able to unlock the door and walked into our room! I am not happy! What if it had been in the middle of the night?

I stopped here after visiting the baseball Hall of Fame. It was much as I expected. No frills but everything clean and in good repair. The room was a bit small but the beds might have been the most comfortable that we slept on in a week of touring. Good location too.

This is a pretty basic motel. Room came with refrigerator, microwave, and safe. A/C was a bit loud, but I didn’t spend a whole lot of time there. Willie’s Bagel Cafe was right out front. Easy access to the turnpike and other highways. Delmonico’s is just down the road.

It was very quiet on Memorial Day Evening. Parking was right at the door. Convenient to the Thruway without the noise. Will stay there on our next trip to Utica.

Overall, this was a decent one-night stay. I generally don’t enjoy staying in properties like this, but we don’t have much of an option on this trip. After getting up to our original room after a last minute emergency booking, we found that the room had never been cleaned from the previous guest. We went back down to get a new room and it was easily remedied—plus we were given a room on the first floor, which I prefer when I am somewhere with no elevator. The room was clean, and I appreciated the lack of gross carpet with hard floors instead which feel like a much cleaner option. The water pressure and hot water in the bathroom was honestly the best hotel shower I’ve ever had and that is saying something. Bed was comfortable enough and the room was quiet, even facing the main parking lot. No frills, no breakfast and nothing special but I would stay again if I needed to. Took off one star for the price because I don’t understand why a red roof with no extras should cost $165 for a night. Seemed very overpriced for what we got.

I expected a bare bones no frills experience, because the rate was so cheap. Yes, it did not have a blowdryer, fridge or microwave, but it was comfortable, clean, perfect temperature, good coffee, and very friendly and helpful staff. There was no surprise fee for bringing our rescue pitty, and they loved on her as if she was theirs. Very positive experience! I will definitely stay at a Red Roof again!

Ive stayed here many times on my drives to and from Canada. Normally I am traveling with a dog and RR makes that easy. This is an excellent place for a dog. Rooms are totally adequate at this price point. Bed is comfortable. Everything very clean. No coffee maker but lobby has coffee/hot water 24/7

The hotel is old, and needs updating, but the staff were very nice, and the room was clean, including the bathroom. The nearby bagel shop was terrific! For the price, it is good value for a one night stopover.

Great staff and perfect location. My only complaint is that despite having a non smoking room, my room still smelled terribly of smoke. At one point it may have been a room for smoking but other than that, the stay was great.

Nice hotel for an overnight during trip. Clean room and comfortable bed. No breakfast but that can be gotten at nearby options. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a good place to stop for the night.

The room was ok, but could definitely be cleaner. The front office staff were all very friendly and helpful. This was the only place that was available for all of the days that we needed because of the Boilermaker so it isn't somewhere that we would normally stay. Overall it wasn't worth the money, but it wasn't horrible either. It was quiet, felt safe, and had friendly staff.
The room was ok, but could definitely be cleaner. The front office staff were all very friendly and helpful. This was the only place that was available for all of the days that we needed because of the Boilermaker so it isn't somewhere that we would normally stay. Overall it wasn't worth the money, but it wasn't horrible either. It was quiet, felt safe, and had friendly staff.

We had 3 rooms reserved. Of those 3, one smelled like cigarette smoke and the other smelled like marijuana. The staff came and smelled the rooms and agreed, they then moved us to 2 new rooms and in those rooms, under the mattress pad there were stains and small black hairs on the beds. Upon further inspection the 3rd room also had stains on the side of the mattress pad and under it. This was supposed to be a family trip to see grandparents and a terminally ill family friend, To have to find somewhere else to stay in Utica, NY on Boilermaker weekend is next to impossible and extremely expensive, especially for 8 people. Through all of this, the front desk staff were amazing and were able to refund our payment. This did cost us over $1500 due to having to find alternative lodging.
