Stresa is best known for its grand art deco villas and elegant hotels. Its lakefront promenade gives visitors the perfect location for admiring both the lake and the town. Stresa hosts many international cultural festivals, including cinematic and musical events throughout the year. The Borromean Islands make a wonderful day out. Visitors can discover beautiful villas, gardens and churches. There are regular ferries to the islands from Stresa. For self-catering, Stresa's market (Friday mornings) is a treasure trove for the best local produce. Otherwise, there are many excellent grocery shops and supermarkets close by.
