Cool boutique type hotel in a GREAT location. Rooms are.small but well designed. Really nice roof deck.

Very cute and cozy hotel. Great area just a few minutes Uber to little Italy and gas lamp. Room was small but good enough size and nice design specially the bathroom, bed was comfortable. There’s a coffee machine and microwave in the lobby which was great. My stay was super quiet which was perfect for me.

Very clean except for hair in the shower drain. Because there was no staff I wasn’t worried about my things being taken. Much cheaper than other hotels. I would definitely do this again. It was like staying at a friend’s spare room. Only thing I missed was an ice machine, but the water cooler/coffee maker was right outside my door!

The only downside was not having parking available on property.

Came for Comic Con weekend, location was a bit off the main strip and not the best area, but still walking distance from the convention center and Gaslamp area. I was hesitant because it isn't staffed like typical hotels and we just got the code for the building and room but we had no trouble, towels and extras were available in the hallways and you could reach someone via phone if needed. Our room was one of the larger ones on the first floor. Was a bit noisy at night as we were right on the street but not terrible. The biggest thing was the bathroom shower, there was no curtain or lip so the whole bathroom tended to flood while showering and our AC unit started dripping the last night but we were able to get ahold of someone via phone. We paid for parking in a garage down the road and took an Uber to the hotel to bring our stuff there as there's no onsite parking. Other than that it was a nice little spot with a cute entryway and an elegant moody vibe. Would stay there again.

Frist night smelled of Marijuana, rooms are small not for family. Great building interior. Staff pleasant, parking sucks downtown San Diego. Bed waa nice, shower didn't work.

The room was very small with the AC unit right up against the bed and parking was always a challenge.

This was my third stay at a Sonder property after I stumbled upon the company earlier this year. In all three cities I have stayed (Savannah, Montreal, and now San Diego), the properties have had prime locations and excellent pricing. The rooms are sleek and clean, and the beds are always comfortable. Service/assistance is there if I were to need it. The Sonder model suits my needs perfectly. With the San Diego property, the rooftop space is a nice amenity.

Quit place but the floors were very dirty!

Great value! Loved the easy check-in process and the decor. Location close to restaurants/bars, and Petco park. Only issue we had in our room was the A/C not blowing cold air and was very loud but they provided ear plugs. On our check-out day the A/C finally started to feel like it was working. Cleanliness was good but cleaners missed a questionable food stain. Overall charming hotel but slightly missed a few marks.

Walked in to filthy unclean room. Took while to get thru for help. Assistance was able to get refund only after multiple phone calls and requests.

Not bad for an affordable stay in San Diego. The room we had on the second floor was pretty small but we just needed a place to sleep so that was fine. There were some stains on the bedding that kinda grossed us out, and the fitted sheet didn’t really fit on the mattress at all; the second we got in bed it just snapped off and we struggled to get it back on. No matter how hard we tried, it would come off very quickly, which was pretty annoying. The walls are super thin and you can hear other people in their rooms and all the noise from the busy street outside. The mini fridge was nice and there were cans of water and cookies waiting for us when we entered the room for the first time. The bathroom door was… interesting. I’m not sure why there wasn’t just a normal door, it was a sliding door on a track but it kept getting stuck and took a ton of effort to slide open and shut. The door is also too small for the doorframe, so there is a pretty significant gap on the sides even when the door is shut, so don’t expect bathroom privacy if you’re with someone else. There’s also no shower door, it’s a walk in shower but you are forced to stand in the same place the whole time so water doesn’t spray all over the bathroom. Check in and check out was pretty easy and the luggage storage was very helpful. This is a nice place if you just need an affordable place to sleep on a San Diego vacation but don’t expect anything but the bare minimum.

Very walkable to a lot of downtown and multiple bus/trolley stops. Sometimes gets a little loud; room does not get dark. Suggestion: please put up curtains on top of the blinds, the blinds do not block out the light from outside.

If you stay here ask for a room away from the road or don’t stay here at all. The room I had was too loud to sleep in due to being right by a noisy intersection, even with earplugs and sound machine. With $200 Bose active noise cancellation on top of the other two, I could sleep but they’re not the most comfortable.

Lobby and room were beautiful, very clean and well maintained. I liked the decor, location is excellent. My room was 104 and barely fit one person. Bed was very comfortable. Room needs a rod for clothes and shelves for toiletries and a drop down desk and stool or chair.

Great stay overall, I love Sonder Hotels but room 103 in the San Diego location faces the street so there was alot of noise from cars and people walking by, hard to get a good nights rest.

Sonder The Baker, San Diego Spent two nights in a one bedroom. Smooth check-in, clean lobby. The room was loud from a floor level air conditioner unit mounted in to the wall. The unit is huge and sticks into the room at the base of the bed. When it's turned down to lessen the sound of the blowing fan, all you can hear is the traffic outside. The room came with ear plugs. now I know why. Running the shower – Has no door, so the water gets everywhere. Hot water lasts for a minute consistently. So all soaped up and then it's cold. This didn't matter what time of day it was used, it would drop out and I'd be standing there freezing. No dampening of sound from the floor above or the outside traffic. No consistent sleep, so was a mess for meetings over both days. Would not recommend. Would not stay again.

The location is wonderful. Close to bars, restaurants, convenience stores, and the trolley system. The hotel itself is clean and the staff were great. Unfortunately, the room was the smallest hotel room I’ve ever had. Didn’t think they could make one this small. Also, there is no storage space. No drawers, dressers, shelves, etc. Can’t even slide something under the bed. Either upgrade to a larger room or make this a one night stay.

Microscopic room size. Road noise the entire night. Got literally no sleep due to the road noise out the window.

The property is well managed and it looks great, my only issue was the room was a lot smaller than it looks in the online photos. No chairs in the room either

Nice little boutique hotel. 10 minute walk to Gaslamp District. The room was very clean & the bed was comfortable. There is no one at the front desk, so all communication is via text but it was run very well; any questions or concerns were answered almost immediately.

I had a pretty serious issue with my stay here. The team that communicated with me was very helpful & professional. My problems were all resolved and I left happy at the end of the day

The property is located close to the Gaslamp district with all the restaurants and night life. As with other Sonder locations, easy check-in and out, has a good list of recommendations of the neighborhood and on the app. When needed, a staff member replied promptly on the chat within their app. The hand written welcome note was a very nice touch from Susie and the team!

The pre-check in process was excruciating. We booked this room for my mother-in-law which created quite a debacle for the pre-check in system. I tried at least 6 times. My husband tried at least 6 times. We forwarded it to his mother and she did same yet still we were stuck outside the lobby trying to get code to get in. Although the property was nice I would probably never stay at a Sonder hotel nor would I recommend to anyone nor would I book my mother-in-law there again.

We went to San Diego to celebrate our anniversary and my husband’s birthday, Paris made a few very creative & sweet cards and gave us some treats! It was a great experience, I’d definitely recommend & would stay there again.

The location was good; about a 15 minute walk from the convention center. The room was very clean and the area was quiet overall. I spent some time on the rooftop lounge which was done nicely. I think the only thing I would have personally preferred would be having someone at the front desk. Not that the virtual front desk was bad at all; it was perfectly fine and convenient when you want to be an introvert. All of my questions were answered right away by the virtual front desk. I think I just like the idea of having someone there. I have no complaints, honestly, and would stay here again.

No front desk staff until 1pm. It says there is a virtual front desk but that’s. It much use if you need help on the property. Stay elsewhere.

Terrible experience checking in. No information emailed prior to arrival. I did the pre verification on line several months ago before change of ownership. We couldn’t get in to the property, online kept saying reservation could not be found. No staff available to ask, tel no provided said not taking calls. After 3 hours on phone to Expedia we finally got into the room

The staff were very kind and amazingly friendly and helpful. The Sonder had everything we needed to have a great stay including coffee, water, microwave, ice etc. Watching the city night lights come on from the rooftop was the perfect way to end the day. We felt safe inside the hotel the whole time and it began to feel homey and comfortable and the staff were like seeing friends every time we came through the door. Yea it’s noisy, that comes with a city. Yes there are unhoused people, that also comes with being in a large city. Unfortunately this is true for any hotel located downtown. However I would gladly stay at the Sonder again.

The location was great for getting around downtown. However, we could hear every noise the neighbors and outside made along with the air conditioning. There is barely enough room to walk around the edge of the bed. It took us an hour and three people over the phone to check in because of it being booked from a third party site. The people who work on site are super nice and attentive.

This was in an excellent location in San Diego! Right outside the Gas Lamp District and with walking distance of many others. The building is an old refinished building with tons of charm and a great outdoor roof space. We really enjoyed our stay!

5 minute walk to Petco park. 7 minute walk to Gaslamp. So much more!!!!! Train was 6 minutes away. Everything was super close!!!!!

Everything about the property is amazing. The only thing it suffers from was the amount of homeless people but being in downtown San Diego that’s a given. 10/10 would stay again

Room was clean and big. My room was next to a busy street and it was very difficult for to sleep because of cars noise. I felt unsafe because of homeless people that was just next front entrance day and night.

I stayed in Sonder spaces in 2019/2020 and had an excellent experience. The staff were always available and helpful; I really loved the units! My stay at Sonder Baker was the same excellent customer quality and care. The room was cozy and well appointed, and there is a comfortable common area on the first floor with a coffee bar, frig, and cubby for any needed extra linens.

The room was clean and well maintained. I would suggest that provisions are made for bottled water to be included in the room cost and some kind of cup. The absence of either made me lean over the sink and drink from the tap.

The room itself, while minimalist in furnishings and amenities, was clean and comfortable. The lobby was gorgeous and we loved the patterns and decor, give the designer a raise! We were also thankful for the water cooler and coffee station. We’d recommend any Sonder location after this experience! The only knock on the place (and by no means is this a fault on the Sonder team per se, but worth mentioning) is the external noise. Not only is the street noise basically heard at full volume (there is very little, if no sound proofing), and every little step and coin drop is enough to startle you out of a restful sleep. Even with the graciously provided earplugs jammed into my ears and white noise machine cranked to max, it still couldn’t drown out the honking, revving and shouting outside that goes into the wee hours. Just something to note for guests!
