This is a beautiful property with super cute cabin rooms and suites. They have a heated pool, hot tub, and basketball court. Parking is free. There's breakfast of bagels, muffins and breads in the check in building. We just stayed one night and it was perfect for us.

It was great! Beautifully redecorated lobby and rooms, with a mid century modern feel. Large TV and comfy bed in the economy suite plus a clean and spacious shower. Easy check in process with nice desk staff and ample parking! Very walkable to the village, many eateries nearby. Only reason for 4 overall stars was noisy guests next door, which is no fault of the lodge. other than that, it was a great experience and would definitely book here again. Pool was wonderfully heated and clean.

Close to Village, walkable dining options, lots of parking. Grill areas, picnic tables. Very comfortable bed. Jackie was very friendly and helpful with recommending activities and dining options. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Great location and service especially Front Desk Venetia who was kind, helpful and professional. Pool is nice but hot tub keys are not working. Ample free parking and strong WiFi. The room is spacious but outdated.

Pros: Big, spacious room. Walking distance to The Village. Cons: Pool was unexpectedly closed- the main reason I picked this location. But the room had an in-room spa which was a good substitute for the kids.

It was a great location and a very relaxing place to be. The check-in clerk Jacqui was amazing as well as the checkout clerk Heather. The decor is something you would step back into the 70s with. Under new management and renovating the place. I would definitely stay again, but would plan on not eating breakfast there, bringing a clock as well as Kleenex. The pool was nice and warm and the Jacuzzi was clean. It’s very dog friendly. they have coffee all day. They also have video games in the lobby to play.

The building had just been painted and paint rags where not removed jacuzzi tub was dirty dead fly in it. paper still on windows from the paint job. table and chairs inside room , not put back on patio. when getting coffee receptionist wasn't friendly, acted bother when I asked her a question. Very unhappy with this property. Obvisously, the room wasn't checked before renting out.

Very nice location but be aware that: No hand towels, bath mat or tissues. Only one wash cloth.Close to highway was very noisy. Only Roku TV, bring your passwords for streaming. Very high bed, hard for old folks to get into. Ants in the room. Breakfast was a couple of bagels. In fareness, we were in the older part that hadn't been upgraded yet.

I liked the cottage setting and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the property is very run down and in a very obvious state of neglect. The bedding was clean, but the chair in the room was full of crumbs and dirt in the seams around the cushion. The hot water was non existent twice during my stay. The room had only one chair to sit on unless you brought patio chairs inside. No table, desk, or other surface for eating or writing, etc. The floor felt sticky and unclean. The jacuzzi tub was lined with some sort of rubberized coating that was full of cracks from aging, and probably impossible to sanitize. The washcloths provided were more like microfiber cloths, but the towels were OK. Our room was on the street side of the building and the road noise was excessive. Sorry for the poor review, but I will probably find somewhere else to stay on my next visit.

The staff was really great they make you feel welcome and always helpful. One thing tho is the room we stay at didn’t have AC so it got pretty hot during the day and during the night we were provided a small fan but didn’t help much, hopefully they change that but overall it was great close to many good diners and places to visit

The walls are VERY THIN. I can hear people next door whispering or low voice. Yep, low volume and I can still hear it . You can hear if the next door unit turn on the faucet or take shower. The water pressure is so loud. You can hear cars passing by too

The room was a little outdated. The hallways were a little outdated with the carpet but the staff was friendly the pool was nice and refreshing. I like that it was outdoors under the big pine trees, but we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The room rate was appropriate for the room condition

Hot tub did not work... Facilites are old and not updated. The room inside was good, no air conditioning (mountain lodge). Overall, it was acceptable and not expensive. Decorated in 1970s vibe. Would stay there again, close to everything.

Staff is great and helpful, but the room was nothing as advertised. In the picture for double room, the description had a picture of a very modern and bright looking room with two windows and plenty of sun light. In the description it also said kitchenette. I wanted to cook. Turned out it was a very dark looking very old fashioned looking room where I had to turn lights on to not feel like in a cave and a microwave was my kitchenette I guess. The continental breakfast I imaged also something else other than paper plates with scones or croissants, apples, bagels and hard boiled eggs in plastic packaging. That’s it. Also, please put a curtain in front of the door window, that light from the lanterns outside was shining so brightly inside the room at night and at 6 in the morning.

The whole hotel had the same wallpaper that my mom had in our kitchen when I was in high school. I graduated in 1992. I’m pretty sure he carpet hasn’t been touched since then either. On the other hand it was interesting to visit that decade again.

Our initial room was in an area where construction was being done. In addition to the noise there was a strong chemical smell. After informing the front desk she moved us to another room, very old and outdated and very stuffy. The clerk was apologetic and offered us a 3rd room, however when we went there it was not cleaned. Eventually the 3rd room was cleaned. However from 10-11pm some very loud guests could be heard talking nearly the entire hour. Unfortunately it was not the best experience.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The day we checked in we arrived early and asked if our room happen to be ready, it wasn't ready but the woman at the desk gave us towels and invited us to use the pool until our room was clean. When our room was clean, she walked out and told us. My twelve year old son also forgot his cell phone charger and the night desk woman let us borrow one. They both went out of their way for us and it was greatly appreciated.

I choose my room and was not given the room I booked. Yes I let them know. The room was not clean, cob webs with dead bugs, the coffee packs given were old and filthy, stains all over carpet and not vacuumed. I checked out early, I handed over my key and they are trying to deny me a refund saying I didn't check out early. How did you get the room key if I didn't check out early? If you check other sites and their reviews you will see the same problems others have had. Falsely advertised the room, not clean, and refusing people refunds on their hard earned money when they check out early because they can't stay there with this motel the way it is. Yes I let them know, yes I also let this site know and my bank and the better business bureau and my lawyer. The photos I posted are of the room I specifically choose verses what I was given and how filthy it was. I checked out and went to the holiday in. And to lie and say I didn't check out early when I had my daughter waiting in the car and can pick out the man I gave my room key to is disgusting for a business to do.

Absolutely loved our stay here it was very clean and quiet overall. Also very convenient you’re in the center of everything and if you don’t feel like driving everything is close by you could just walk. I would definitely stay here again!

The room was spacious and welcoming. We ended up right on Big bear Boulevard so there was a little traffic noise and car lights until late in the evening, but would definitely stay there again if not in the building on the main street. Parking was very convenient and they had several dog friendly areas.

Great location near near Big Bear central shopping and restaurants. Well maintained older property and friendly folks. Good continental breakfast. Only complaint is that being right on the road the traffic noise is persistent. Perhaps book a cabin a bit off the road there rather than the main lodge.

It was great! Beautifully redecorated lobby and rooms, with a mid century modern feel. Large TV and comfy bed in the economy suite plus a clean and spacious shower. Easy check in process with nice desk staff and ample parking! Very walkable to the village, many eateries nearby. Only reason for 4 overall stars was noisy guests next door, which is no fault of the lodge. other than that, it was a great experience and would definitely book here again. Pool was wonderfully heated and clean.

We stayed in the renovated studio suite. It had a cute French country vibe. Beautiful bed frame and nice balcony over looking town. Our room faced the noisy front road which was busy throughout the night on the weekend. It calmed down on Sunday night. I had to use white noise to sleep through the night. The heat came from a beautiful ambiance fireplace. The price was exceptional per night. It’s a 10 minute walking distance to The Village which is fun and beautiful to visit. The Big Bear Roasting Coffee company was a minute away and we loved going there. There is a yummy Crepe kiosk place close by too. The Black Forest Lodge breakfast consist of juice, coffee, tea, hard boiled eggs, bagels and waffles. Overall experience was good, they allow dogs and we felt that the outside area smelled too much like dog poop. We think they can remedy this by putting out “pick up your dog poop” signs with provided dog poop bags and trash cans.

Check in was quick, the rooms are perfectly what you would expect in a mountain town, clean, great views, everything is walking distance. This is right by the village and there was so much to do, so many shops, places to eat, places to drink, tattoo shops, we did it all.

The hotel is located in a great area. You can walk to several restaurants and coffee shops. The downtown area is also about a 15 minute walk away. The room was simple but very clean and it had a fire place and a balcony. The beds were comfortable. We were happy with our choice and would stay again. The only negative is that breakfast options are very limited. We decided to eat out after seeing what they had.

Although the overall stay was good I think they should supply coffee in the room since it has a coffee maker. The coffee maker needs to be cleaned there was calcium buildup. Add a storage rack in the bathroom for extra towels. Right now they pile the extra towels on the bed. Maybe add a couple of disposable plastic cups for water. Just keeping it honest. My wife and I travel and have stayed at many facilities that are within the same price range as the Black Forest Lodge and Cabins.

Staff is great and helpful, but the room was nothing as advertised. In the picture for double room, the description had a picture of a very modern and bright looking room with two windows and plenty of sun light. In the description it also said kitchenette. I wanted to cook. Turned out it was a very dark looking very old fashioned looking room where I had to turn lights on to not feel like in a cave and a microwave was my kitchenette I guess. The continental breakfast I imaged also something else other than paper plates with scones or croissants, apples, bagels and hard boiled eggs in plastic packaging. That’s it. Also, please put a curtain in front of the door window, that light from the lanterns outside was shining so brightly inside the room at night and at 6 in the morning.

TL;DR: Average room, non-existent Continental breakfast, decent location, affordable price. Overall, it was okay. Traveled to Big Bear for a weekend trip with my gf. The first night, the shower has no hot water, even after running for a few minutes. There was no table in the room and no set-aside closet, but since it was a short trip, it was bearable. The heater in the room worked thankfully. Like other reviews have noted, the walls are thin so you can hear other guests. The listing on the hotel states that there is a hot tub and pool. The pool was closed given that it was winter. The hot tub was small and didn't looked very appealing. We didn't try it. The main gripe I had was the Continental breakfast. It says that breakfast was provided which is one of the reasons why we ended up staying here. In short, there is effectively NO breakfast, more like a few snacks. There was no hot food, only a few small prepackaged muffins, hard-boiled eggs, and some coffee. Oddly, given the poor selection, the breakfast hours are still restricted to 8-10 am. We decided to instead go to a local cafe (I strongly recommend just not bothering with the breakfast or at least know what you're getting which isn't much).

It was a great location and a very relaxing place to be. The check-in clerk Jacqui was amazing as well as the checkout clerk Heather. The decor is something you would step back into the 70s with. Under new management and renovating the place. I would definitely stay again, but would plan on not eating breakfast there, bringing a clock as well as Kleenex. The pool was nice and warm and the Jacuzzi was clean. It’s very dog friendly. they have coffee all day. They also have video games in the lobby to play.

Staff was amazing. I called the night before asking about extending and found out we got upgraded because there was a booking issue ! super sweet staff. only used the spa in the room once , shower water pressure wasn’t good but that’s to be expected at a hotel! bed was comfortable. i love the fact its a keyless entry door. walls are thin but that’s to be expected. Husband and i will definitely be back! so glad we were able to spend our honeymoon here!

Not impressed. We rented the Casanova cabin and it left much to be desired. It had lamps that didn't work, an old jet tub that took up half the room and took an hour to fill, no bath mat, sketchy water fixtures that were loose and flimsy, windows with out screens, no where to put our luggage, no closet, and the fireplace was black from soot that left a smell in the room. The decore is bad. The bed sheets are scratchy and the blankets old polyester material from who knows when. I regret staying here. I think some rooms are renovated but this cabin is definitely not new and needs a lot of TLC.
