Hotel V Oosterpark

Das Hotel ist neu und verfügt über grosszügige Zimmer. Es befindet sich etwas ausserhalb vom Zentrum, ist aber mit der Strassenbahh in 20 Minuten sehr gut und ohne Umsteigen erreichbar. Mit dem vom Hotel ausgeliehenen Fahrrad hat die Fahrt ins Zentrum von Amsterdam (Dam und Königspalast) sogar nur 15 Minuten gedauert. Die etwas freakige Dachterasse im ersten Stockwerk lädt nach einer Stadtbesichtigung zu einem kühlen Drink und zum verweilen ein. In direkter Nachbarschaft des Hotels befindet sich ein sehr schöner Park und etliche kleine Restaurants, Biergärten und Kneipen.

What a wonderfully hotel! We really enjoyed our stay as it wasn’t in the city centred but by 12 minutes via tram. Rooms extra clean, wonderful bath and shower and great restaurant and outside bar. We will be returning again very soon.

Terrible customer service. Staff was aloof, condescending, abrupt, and went out of their way to ensure you knew that they did not care. I asked if there was anyone that could help me with getting luggage upstairs and the answer was a flat “no”. The elevators are tiny so it took multiple trips after an 11 hour flight to get our things to our room. Our room was not ready on time and we waited until 4:30pm for one of the rooms and there wasn’t even an apology or offer to at least get us some drinks and make us a little comfortable while we waited. My children fell asleep on random sofas in the lobby and coffee bar, and they didn’t even bother telling us when the room did become ready. I had to keep walking over the front desk to check with them. Asking simple questions prompted answers like, “I gave that to you at check in” and when I asked if it was okay to drink the tap water the answer was, “well I’ve been drinking it all my life and I’m still alive”. A simple yes would have sufficed. The hotel itself is lovely with a beautiful aesthetic. But it doesn’t not make up for the crappy attitude and service. Breakfast was a good value given that it was included in room rate. So if you are okay with rude service to the point where your children even ask you, “why are they so rude”, then book at your own risk. Considering how much we paid for two rooms to accommodate a family of 4, I’m sure there are far better choices in Amsterdam.
