Small old fashioned hotel conveniently close to the city centre. Room was comfortable and clean, but the bathroom was a little tired and the door to the room could do with a soft close mechanism, to stop it closing loudly. All staff were great. The bar was well stocked and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. On-site car park is a useful, but £5 a night is a bit cheeky.

Absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Easy to find, car parking on sight and checked in with the friendly and obliging gentleman on reception even though the room wasn't quite ready. Came back to night manager who was frindly and chatty and helped us to a night cap for the room. Room was great, spacious, clean, comfortable beds although we found the room quite hot. The corridors were cool so maybe the afternoon sun (30oc day) had been on the room all afternoon, I'm not sure. They provided a fan and left it on for us and also offered another fan should we need it. We didn't stop for breakfast but the reception and bar were pleasant and as we passed the breakfast room everyone looked content. Would thoroughly recommend it and should we return to Lichfield, wouldn't hesitate to stop again being so handy for town and in a quiet area. Well done folks

Ok stay hotel very tired rooms need some love and attention - breakfast good Distance to town good - few minutes stroll into town which was handy. Parking onsite which you pay for at check in but unfortunately was full when we returned at night so not very convenient. Would not stay again despite the staff being very friendly the facilities are lacking.

Really friendly staff, comfortable rooms, excellent location. The only issue is that the hotel is more or less full and there are not enough spaces in the car park. We got a space but arrived 30 minutes after check in opened. Others were not so lucky.

Reception was welcoming and ever present, also covering the bar for drinks. Breakfast was traditional full English with some extra continental style items on the side, room was fully functional and clean, although we were immediately above the smoking are so had to keep our windows closed. Car park is first come first served and a fiver per day. 5 mins walk to the Cathedral and 8 to town.

Clean, comfortable and very convenient! Attending the Lichfield Arts Festival and hotel was just up the hill from the Cathedral, one of the venues! Great breakfast,very helpful staff! Recommended! 😉 Didn’t bother me, but no lift!

Great hotel on the edge of Lichfield City, either walk 10 minutes down the main hill to get to the centre, or through the little known ally through the park. Well run, clean, great bar and breakfast. Also a surprisingly good event venue. Tops!

This is my second time here so i knew what to expect. It's an older property so showers are in baths but this was not a problem. A spaceous and comfortable bar with entertainment on some nights.

I was told at check in that the heating was broken. Electric oil heaters were in the rooms. The heater was not adequate for the size of the room. No evening meals served this should be more evident on Hotels.com. The building and furniture is old and dated. Large scale refurbishment inside and out required. Mould in the bathroom

On arrival I was a little apprehensive as the building looks dated, not my usual hotel to stay at in Lichfield so did wonder if I had made a mistake in booking.... however, I was greeted warmly by reception and took my bags to my room which was large, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfy and I had no issues at all with a lovely view over the front of the hotel. We used the bar before heading into town - again staff were great. Decor a little dated but not in any way shabby. Breakfast was served - again by helpful staff and was a reasonable standard. Plenty of choice and enough to set you up for any day ahead. Overall I was really pleased with the hotel - yes it is a bit dated but the room and the staff made up for some aged decor. I will stay again.

We had a lovely stay at the Cathedral Hotel. We were travelling with friends and were in Lichfield to visit a restaurant. The hotel is very well placed for a dhott walk into town. The hotel staff were all lovely; very friendly and really couldn't do enough for us. The room was large, clean and comfortable with a good shower. Whilst we were there, the heating was broken, so we were provided with an electric radiator. This made our room perfectly warm and in fact, none of the hotel felt especially cold. In the evening we went to the bar; it also was lovely and warm considering. There was a good selection of drinks and the beer was good. My only criticism was that, as the hotel dont do food in the evening, it would be good to keep a few snacks in, such as crisps. The breakfast was excellent, really plentiful and hot. All in all, we had a great stay and would stay again.

Booked last minute but not that it should make any difference. Had to have a dog friendly room so an additional £15 for deep clean fully acceptable until we saw the room 218. Dirty, tired and out dated. Asked to be moved now in room 215 which was marginally better. They said breakfast was £10 each if booked tonight but £13 if booked in the morning which seemed odd. Additionally they wanted to charge for parking which I negotiated not too. Overall very disappointed therefore complained in the morning. Had a call later and given a full refund. Shall not stop here again. Which is a shame as it is ideally situated for access to Lichfield.

The staff at this hotel are amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They really make the place. The fabric of the building is getting a little tired. Housekeeping of the rooms is not done daily which I was ok with but it meant the tea tray was not refilled regularly nor the cups changed.

Generally poor condition. Initial impressions weren't good. On arrival we were told we hsd to pay for parking as we'd booked through Expedia. Dirty staircarpet and grubby bathroom.

I needed accommodation for two nights while visiting relatives in the area. Although the exterior, the dining room and the bar are attractive, the staircase and corridors are a little basic. My room was spacious and clean, with black-out lined curtains, a large comfortable bed and a decent bathroom (although the basin plug was broken). Breakfast was cooked to order and of good quality. There are no lifts, but there are only three floors. There's no air conditioning. Weather was hot, so the window was open. Beacon Street is busy, so traffic noise is an issue. Worse, the outdoor smoking area was directly below my window and I was awoken before 6am each day by guests (or staff?) chatting while smoking. No toiletries were provided apart from a bar of soap and a shower cap. There was a dirty towel left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I discovered when I returned late the second evening (by reading a card I had not noticed when I arrived) that rooms are not serviced during one's stay unless requested at reception. In most hotels room service is automatic. Finally, although there is a car park, I doubt whether there would be enough space if the hotel were full. And, according to the card, there's a charge of £5 per night unless you book direct with the hotel. I booked through Expedia but was not in fact charged extra. I doubt I would stay here again.

Tidy older hotel. Night stand was very dusty, so I’m not sure when our room as used last. Shower was fantastic, warning for the hot water should not be ignored! This was a convenient walk into town.

we booked here last minute as the cottage we had was double booked. Reasonably priced, not dinner available, but breakfast very good and freshly cooked with good choice menu. Room was comfortable. When we checked in there was no internet, but it was fixed later that evening. Car parking was charged, and I missed that when I booked.

Lovely hotel. Newly renovated room - very spacious. All staff extremely helpful. Very good breakfast. Car park belonging to hotel. 5 minute walk from Lichfield Cathedral and from town centre.

Comfortable room. Double bed was quite small. Friendly service. Shower was rubbish. Only had about 3 streams of water and sprayed in all directions (needs a new shower head), took a while to warm up too. Basic room but get what paid for

Decent hotel. Room was nice- good bed, great shower. The public areas were a bit dated. ‘Fallen grander’ sort of thing but not too bad. The were quite helpful in thinking where could i store my cycle overnight. In the end we agree in my room was the easiest place.

I needed accommodation for two nights while visiting relatives in the area. Although the exterior, the dining room and the bar are attractive, the staircase and corridors are a little basic. My room was spacious and clean, with black-out lined curtains, a large comfortable bed and a decent bathroom (although the basin plug was broken). Breakfast was cooked to order and of good quality. There are no lifts, but there are only three floors. There's no air conditioning. Weather was hot, so the window was open. Beacon Street is busy, so traffic noise is an issue. Worse, the outdoor smoking area was directly below my window and I was awoken before 6am each day by guests (or staff?) chatting while smoking. No toiletries were provided apart from a bar of soap and a shower cap. There was a dirty towel left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I discovered when I returned late the second evening (by reading a card I had not noticed when I arrived) that rooms are not serviced during one's stay unless requested at reception. In most hotels room service is automatic. Finally, although there is a car park, I doubt whether there would be enough space if the hotel were full. And, according to the card, there's a charge of £5 per night unless you book direct with the hotel. I booked through Expedia but was not in fact charged extra. I doubt I would stay here again.

Check-in was speedy. The room was comfortable and the shower worked well. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was fab. Really enjoyed our two night stay. Easy walking distance to the town.

Good location for getting into the City centre. Easy, safe parking. Hotel is staffed by really friendly but professional staff. Delays in the bar as the poor lady was also working the reception. Hotel is clean and tidy but very dated. Does need a overhaul as it's looking it age. Outdoor sitting area is very limited and also the smoking area. Not nice. Breakfast room was nice and clean. Good selection of cereals, fruits etc and order taken at the table for hot food. Full English was piping hot and well presented. Very good value for the price.

Absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Easy to find, car parking on sight and checked in with the friendly and obliging gentleman on reception even though the room wasn't quite ready. Came back to night manager who was frindly and chatty and helped us to a night cap for the room. Room was great, spacious, clean, comfortable beds although we found the room quite hot. The corridors were cool so maybe the afternoon sun (30oc day) had been on the room all afternoon, I'm not sure. They provided a fan and left it on for us and also offered another fan should we need it. We didn't stop for breakfast but the reception and bar were pleasant and as we passed the breakfast room everyone looked content. Would thoroughly recommend it and should we return to Lichfield, wouldn't hesitate to stop again being so handy for town and in a quiet area. Well done folks

Even though this hotel is part of a group it has the feel of a family owned hotel, the staff cannot do enough for you and are very welcoming and friendly!!!! If you decide to have breakfast it is of very good quality and a good variety of choices with excellent service. I have been coming here for the past 3 years and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is in a great location if you want to walk around the centre of Lichfield and go for a drink or food.

The staff at this hotel are amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They really make the place. The fabric of the building is getting a little tired. Housekeeping of the rooms is not done daily which I was ok with but it meant the tea tray was not refilled regularly nor the cups changed.

Hotel was nice. Big room with double and a single bed which were comfortable. Clean and had amenities such as tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Friendly staff good breakfast and location 3 min taxi ride to centre or a 9 min walk. Parking was 5.00 which i thought was good price. Bar drinks expensive.

Small old fashioned hotel conveniently close to the city centre. Room was comfortable and clean, but the bathroom was a little tired and the door to the room could do with a soft close mechanism, to stop it closing loudly. All staff were great. The bar was well stocked and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. On-site car park is a useful, but £5 a night is a bit cheeky.

Great staff who helped with baggage (there’s a narrow staircase) on arrival and departure. Good breakfast is included, and the stay was a very reasonable price overall. There is a fan in the room which cooled it down well. The location is on the Main Street 7 minutes walk from the cathedral

This hotel is fantastic value for money in a great location. We stayed for the weekend to attend Lichfield Festival at Beacon park, which the hotel is perfectly located for. The hotel staff were fully booked and worked their socks off. They had sufficient parking with an attendant on the entrance to ensure that hotel guests could get a space. Check in was easy at the end of the evening and breakfast was superb. The only tip I would have which is not a criticism, is to close the window at night as the rooms either are on a main road or you can hear noise from breakfast being set up on from the carpark from 6am. No aircon but a fan was in the room and was fine. A great team who made our stay really comfortable land will definitely return.

we booked here last minute as the cottage we had was double booked. Reasonably priced, not dinner available, but breakfast very good and freshly cooked with good choice menu. Room was comfortable. When we checked in there was no internet, but it was fixed later that evening. Car parking was charged, and I missed that when I booked.

Very good, well maintained hotel. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Used the discount to have evening meal in the sister hotel’s restaurant in the centre of Lichfield which was also good.

Think Faulty Towers!! This hotel has charm, character and staff bursting with personalities of all types! It is all the more endearing as it needs updating most everywhere but we will have fond memories of our stay (mainly due to the staff!) and was a great location for the Beacon Park Festival.

Bathroom needed some maintenance. Smelt damp skirting board rotting. Shower curtain didn’t appear clean. Other wise room bedding clean but needs refurbished. Also strange stayed for 3 nights and only if requested would room /toilet be cleaned.

Stayed here during the summer, as the hotel doesn’t have any air condition it becomes very hot during warm days. Worth to say is that it was 30+ outside but the top-floor was terrible hot during the night. If you have a trouble to sleep in 30+ degrees, I would avoid this hotel. Otherwise it was ok.
